  1. I'm not personally into the whole sig thing Brian...but I gotta admit your sig-books are an awesome compilation!! Gourgous cover.
  2. I love that cover ! Pumping up a FLAt tire. Maybe Superman also belives he can blow up a ballon with a hole in it.
  3. Great run. Congrats. BTW, your fabvorite issues from this run? Mine are Adventure's #369 and 370. Best story from the run.
  4. Who knows, time will tell. Regardless, I can't see this book being worth near the ask price, not now, and maybe never, or not for a very, very long time.
  5. The 9.9's are hard to come by, no doubt. But you can't deny that pressing is probably being applied to books in multiples of, something around 5-6 times more then it was done 8-9-10 years ago. A 9.9 book will always be a freak of nature, as you said, but it only takes a handful to bring down the value of the one, and I just think, due to in no small part to the fact that there are scores of this book exisitng, we are going to have a handful eventually.
  6. It's just that pressing was not nearly as prevelant 9 years ago as it is today, thats why I think there will be more 9.9 copies. It seems like every third BA key or semi key 9.0/9.2 and up has been subject to a press job the last few years. As far as this sale having virtually nothing to do current or near-term future of the market, if it's not real time sales that drive the market, what does? We have seen it over and over again, to name a few recent examples: Action #1, Detective #27, GL #76, etc.
  7. Anything over 60K is to much for this book. I might add it is my firm conviction that it's spectacles like this that are going to contribute to the eventual, inetivible, huge price downturn in this hobby. Thanks to a ever seemingly infinite increasing number of pressed and super pressed books, subbed and re-subbed, pimped up and hyped out to the point that the stories in the comics themsleves are more credible then the descriptions that some sellers would have us belive, as they slither about for the next sucker/buyer. . What makes this more alarming, and its becoming more evident as time marches on, is that books like the Hulk 181, of relative recent vintage, are not rare, or even scarce in higher grades, again thanks in part to the press and re-sub game. I would not be surprised to see another 3 or 4 CGC 9.9's in the next 5-7 years, and God knows how many more 9.8's. And someone is asking 150K for this book, with a straight face, knowing full well that the chances of more in like-same grades in the near future are a pretty good bet. I would ask them, if they HAD to tell me the truth, would THEY ever fork out that kind of money for a book like that? Shell game anyone? Greed and hypocrisy, I'll say it, human nature is consistent.. When the crash does happen, and many of the current power brokers/opportunists fall like shooting stars, you won't find me shedding any tears for them. Too many dealers and collectors today seem to revel in trickery, and even have a perverse arroagance and pride in doing so. There are many good and honest and concientious people in this hobby, both dealers and collectors. But eventually, like a brood of magggots devouring the dead, the moving stench and rot are going to contaminate every living thing they touch.
  8. Pre Hero marvels are some of the most fascinating comics ever. For me they are kind of acomic history analogy to a period after dinosaurs, but before man. I own the OA splash of TOS #11, ( http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=520048&GSub=82294 ) a scene somewhat similiar to the cover, and will probably never sell it. Great stuff guys, thanks for posting them. Joe
  9. I like that FF 98 page. Wish I had the cover to that book. What are the other from?
  10. In fact he had quite a few cgc Baker St; John romance issues.
  11. Wasn't that copy on ebay with tan pages?
  12. I saw a copy at metro the other day, I think it was a cgc 5.5 copy.
  13. And DC romance are probably even tougher then the mystery/horror books in high grade.
  14. It's hard to belive there is only one HOM 175 in 9.4, one HOS 83 in 9.4, and not more 9.6's and 9.8's of some of these DC horror books. Maybe all those years in the .25/.50/dollar boxe's has made them relatively scarce in high grade?
  15. Two great cover's on those DC's Sinister House's. Great grades also, they are nicely centered, present real well.
  16. Stat art, or a faithful re-creation, especially if it's by the original artist, either would be fine with me if the original was not available, or did not exisit, or was priced out of my reach. The only factor for me would be if the cost was reasonable. It would still look great framed and hanging up on my wall.
  17. It was on ebay last week...I don't have a scanner anymore, sold it to buy comics
  18. I just picked up a Detective 18. I love that cover...been looking for one at a reasonable price for a while.
  19. Great site Mike, from a long, long time DC collector. It's fabulous and I and use it quite a bit. Joe S.
  20. The story in #68 was used in one of the episodes of the Superman TV series at the time. Superman flew into space right into a meteor storm mixed with kryptonite, fell back down to earth, and he had amnesia. It is one of the best episodes of the TV series, on of the most fondly remembered. The story in the comic itself is not to bad either, but I am partial to the TV version.
