  1. Before I liked superheroes, I loved Kung Fu! So this cover's one of my favs. Brings back memories of great TV on the weekends.
  2. Interestingly, this issue varies significantly from book to book with respect to how well the inking remains within its designated areas, like Joker's eyebrows (on some books yellow eyebrows), eyes (on some books blue from eyelid extends to white of eyes), and mouth (red and even yellow encroaches face), and Batman's body (some migrating yellows and blues). On some books, the red and/or yellow encroaches quite a bit into the white text area of "The Joker in 'Batman's Arabian Nights.'" I also noticed that this issue often has the staples going through the front cover along the left edge, which are visible from the front cover. Normal for GA, I expect. Luckily, this book's staples are centered on the spine, which helps the eye appeal a bit too. This all just reminds me that sometimes old-school, in-hand evaluations remain worthwhile in this virtual marketplace, if one has the time and opportunity. Makes me appreciate the sellers who allow for returns on slabs.
  3. Agreed. After pouring over hi-res pix of this issue on Heritage, ComicLink, anywhere really, this appears to be a great looking 7.0. That is why I wondered whether the grader evaluated this book as if it were a BA or SA book, or perhaps didn't know how to addess printer creases.
  4. Hi. Is it better to crack out the book yourself before submitting a slabbed book for crossover or regrade, or should you just send CGC the slab as is with the request for CGC and/or CSS services? Relatedly, if you send a CGC slab to CGC for services requiring a new slab/certification, I am assuming CGC will void/remove its old certification. But what if the slab is from CBCS--does CGC inform CBCS that it should void the certification? And if you crack it out yourself before sending the book to CGC, is there is a way to inform CGC, CBCS, etc. that the old certification should be cancelled?
  5. Ah. But that lower right front corner crease is less than 3/4", so I figured possibly max of 9.0, or 8.5 since less than an inch?
  6. Thanks for everyone's estimates. Leaving out the outliers, looks like the consensus is 7.5-8.0, closer to 8.0. The book was graded 7.0. Perhaps not woefully undergraded, but enough to suggest that this non-CGC grader lacked either experience with Golden Age books, experience with printer creases (i.e., should not have discounted for them), or both. A potential reason for sticking with CGC for older books? If any of you counted the printer creases to lower the technical grade, and assuming that is a no-no here, could you be so kind to restate your estimate of the technical grade without that deduction?
  7. Okay, playtime is over. Now give me a serious evaluation. Or Hulk smash!
  8. There now should be four pix above. Also, please let me know if it would be appropriate to disclose the identity of the slabber (assuming it was not CGC) with the grade reveal, in case the overwhelming consensus is that the book was misgraded.
  9. Was it graded too low or too high? Inquiring minds want to know! Here is the pix of the book (in a slab). What do you think is the appropriate technical grade for this book? For what it's worth, assume the book was not pressed. There will be a grade reveal in a day or two. Just to make sure all potentially important things are considered, there appear to be the following non-color-breaking printer creases (see the close-up pix): (1) on the top-right front cover, the line over "THRILLS" and the line under "The Joker"; and (2) on the left-mid back cover, the line over "Amazing 4 Way". If I am mistaken about one or all three being printer creases, please let me know when you comment.
  10. Wow. Nice book. 7.5? Just because of back because front looke 8.5. Clean/press?
  11. Hey folks. Hope all of you are well. Came across this a while back. What do you think? FYI, water issue was limited to what you can see on lower cover and the bit on splash page. And on the interior back cover, that is a 1" tear from "no cost!" to right edge (the rest is a crease). Please, if you can also comment on the quality of interior pages that would be appreciated.
  12. Thanks all. I was in the ballpark. Yay. What about the interior pages?
  13. Good morning. Hope you are all well. How about this book? And the interior pages? Hopefully my guess is on the money.
  14. I'm gonna go out on a shaky, weathered limb and say 2.5.
  15. Or this one. The color on this book is amazing to behold up close. Reminds me of All Star Comics 17.
  16. Bump. GoCollect says last sale was recently $1,300 in September.
  17. Nice book! I have an earlier Supe issue graded 6.0 and it looks like this, for what it's worth.
  18. Eternals #1 CGC 9.8 White pages, nicely centered, for $1250. 90-day GPA is $1283 based on 23 sales.
  19. Good afternoon. Just one more for today. Rules: Nobody on the hall of shame list please. No returns on slabbed books. Payment via PayPal. First “take” wins it. $10 US domestic shipping; to Canada at actual cost. PM’s welcome, but a take on the thread wins out over PM negotiations.
  20. On the SS#11, GPA says most recent $560 last month, and $599 in 2019, while GoCollect says $675 last month. Accounting for the scuff on the case front, I figured $550 is a good deal? On the IM#66, most recent GPA was $534 in June 2019, with $467 average in 2019. GoCollect has $375 as most recent sale in mid-2019. Just lowered the ask to $450.
