  1. When my wife stepped out to run an errand today, she came across this. I have archived this photo. Does it count as original art in my collection? I guess the COVID-19 diet spares no one. It managed to add at least 19 pounds to Stan and these heroes! Stan is quoted as saying, "There's just something that feels nice about holding a comic book." Damn right. RIP
  2. And of course, don't forget Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck, before the yella fella. Or is that the BOOM you are about to unload on us?
  3. Take Batman 47 and Avengers 55 per PM.
  4. Hi. Fascinating stuff. Joining discussion late so trying to understand how to identify these pedigree books. If a handwritten alphanumeric notation such as this one appears on the top left front cover of a 1943 comic book, does that indicate Okajima pedigree, despite "Okajima" not being written in cursive on front cover? Or is it necessarily the case that ALL Okajima books were notated in one specific way depending on issue date of book, e.g., with at least "Okajima" on front cover before 1944 and with no "Okajima" but a date stamp and/or camp-specific alphanumeric info after that? I ask because it seems possible that Ms. Okajima could have obtained a 1943 book from the same source in a subsequent year (say 1946?), because the back issue caught her eye, etc., when just the alphanumeric notation was being used.
  5. Hi. I just wanted to say, actually felt compelled to note that your book looks better than a 3.0, whether or not it has been restored. If it’s restored, it will get an apparent grade, and this books looks more structurally sound than a 3.0. Further, my understanding is that Marvel chipping is considered a manufacturing defect that will NOT necessarily reduce the grade (putting aside the extent to which it affects eye appeal and thus the price it could fetch). I would urge you to have it slabbed by CGC if you are about to lowball yourself! Even a half grade up (and here could be as much as 1 or 1.5!) makes a HUGE difference. Grrr!
  6. OMG. Very well put. That was so true for me! My college-age son introduced me to it, and there was the initial culture shock for me, having grown up with BTTF. But then we couldn’t help but binge-watch it (with the necessary breaks to allow our gut to heal after all the laughter)! I still can’t help smiling thinking about that pickle Rick episode. Genius!
  7. You haven’t seen R&M yet? Do yourself a solid and reserve a couple of hours soon to watch the first five episodes. It’s a crazy, sci-if-on-steroids spin on Back to the Future. Relatively new (around few years) and has a growing cult following.
  8. GPA and GoCollect need to start reflecting TOTAL price paid less shipping, to include sales tax where paid. It's a no brainer. THAT is the price that was paid, i.e., what the buyer was willing pay and what should be reflected on those websites. Does anyone know if they are incapable of reflecting that, or simply haven't to this point because it was such a minority of purchases that were subject to sales tax (b/c folks were better able before, than now, to avoid sales tax venues)? In the end, all should expect sales tax anyway so prices will be adjusting upward to absorb that, because folks still want the books. It may soon not be practical to wait for a non-tax venue to offer the book you want...that could be a long wait, in vain in the case of some hard to find books. For me as a collector, a long wait could prove unbearable! Woops, RedGiant sry for jumping on this hijacking of your sales thread. But my last point is saying, if someone WANTS that ASM 129 the tax shouldn't be a long-term concern. For the flipper, whatever. But not for the collector so much. If I had cash (I'm waiting to hear on particular different title/book in another sales thread), an ASM129 would be something I happen to need.
