Hoarder! Tell your Grandma I want my variants back!

  2. Or could there be some definite softening of the market for at least some ASM titles...granted ASM 64 in 9.4 is a VERY prevalent book, but it's been a $250 book pretty solid for at least 2-3 years...

I've always assumed ASM 64 was a warehouse find issue.

Based on the cgc census numbers

    Near Mint/Mint 9.8 23

    Near Mint + 9.6 81

    Near Mint 9.4 105

    Near Mint - 9.2 94

These blow the issue right above and below it out of the water.

  3. I don't know why so many people ridicule this sale. I'm sure there are plenty of things that this group of people have bought, that others would get a side-grabbing laugh out of. While I would not pay $12,250 for this book, I am glad to see it sell strong. I would much rather see the book sell for $12,250, than to see it go for $50. If it went cheap, than everyone would be saying "DOOM is upon us".

Yes, I wouldn't have paid it, but if someone wants to throw down that many clams for it, hey go for it.

That's what makes this country great, we can all waste our money however we choose.

  4. I think I might actually have this book :o . The sticker is what stands out in my memory. Time to start digging

There is an All Detergent Spider-Man give away from 1979 with a yellow cover that has this same wording. The wording is part of the cover and not a sticker. It is pretty common.

If it does turn out to be a ASM 184, please post a pic, or at least know you found it. Good Luck! (thumbs u

  5.

It's a hard book to find. I traded one of the only known copies that still had the sticker on it. Doubt I'll ever find another.

:baiting: Yea but just think about what you got for it. :cloud9:

    Yeah, I'm not complaining. :cloud9:

what did terry give you for it? :baiting:

you can PM me if you dont want the world to know.

    or I can ask Terry

:) I was not involved in that trade but I think Reggie got a great deal for it. (thumbs u

    :roflmao:

    my bad.

(guess what forum charity auction I won?)

  6. Yeah.. well the All Detergent 184 no price variant, was the only one I spotted on Ebay for years. The slabbed comic went all the way to England. (thumbs u

I sold a beat up copy for $45. I ran it on eBay as the All Detergent variant. I have tried a couple of time to have CGC change the description to All Detergent Variant, but to no avail.

Do you still have a scan of it?

  8. I agree that price is a bit stiff but that is a ridiculously tough book, especially given the demand. Are there any other bronze-age beaters that would command that price? Along with Star Wars 1, the Iron Fist 14 35 cent price variant has been known the longest. It is a key book and too date after years of searching, there are still only 24 price variants certified (compared to 1456 of the regular issue).

According to GPA and my STLcomics price variant mafia notes of sales of that issue, here is EVERY CGC sale of that book. Since CGC started, the book has never been cheap and Overstreet has never really had a full grip on price variant prices. In my opinion, the best deal recently was the 7.0 that sold in April on ComicLink for $1100 and is not on the CGC census.

As you can see, I don't think that this book will ever be cheap.

    2.5 sold in Jan 2009 for $475.

    3.5 sold in May 2008 for $351.

    3.5 sold in May 2009 for $400.

    6.0 sold in Nov 2003 for $345.

    6.0 sold in Mar 2006 for $735.

7.0 sold in Jan 2004 for $1100. (different book than ComicLink sale)

    7.5 sold in Jun 2004 for $1025.

    7.5 sold in Apr 2005 for $1325.

    8.0 sold in Jan 2005 for $1225.

8.0 sold in Oct 2006 for $600 (bargain).

    8.0 sold in Oct 2008 for $1729.

    8.5 sold in Feb 2005 for $1601.

    9.0 sold in Jun 2004 for $1100.

    9.0 sold in Sep 2007 for $1975.

9.0 sold in Nov 2007 for $2500. (private treaty sale not in GPA)

    9.2 sold in Jul 2002 for $1500.

    9.2 sold in Oct 2008 for $4100.

9.4 sold in Sep 2006 for $5100. (this is still the one and only highest graded on the census, followed by three 9.2s and two 9.0s)

If a 9.2 sold for $4100 in Oct 2008 what would the 9.4 go for now. Would it do as good as the GL #76 9.6 or better?

Keldog, I guess you lost me.

Who are you responding to about the price being stiff?

Those prices are for what book? I'm assuming IF #14 (shrug)

  9. :) Just got this in, now only two away from a complete low grade set. (thumbs u

pm me your last two Terry.

I have three 35's to go.

Anyone want to bet who will be the first to have both price variant sets first?

My money would be on Cosmic.

That's a tough one. Both of you have keen eyes when finding variants.

But Tery has the easier path with just needing 30 centers and not 35 centers.

I'm still laughing at that last All Detergent Spider-Man mix -up. I'm not Reggie, I'm Harry. lollol
