Loving these Happy Birthday threads to the artist.

My copy was 3.5 and may have been only slightly better. 3.0 for me.

I posted this story over on the STL Comics boards years ago.
In 1977, as a young, penny-conscious comic collector, I was dismayed with the 5 cent price increase on Spectacular Spider-Man Issue #8. I was living in Georgia at the time, but my grandmother was in the hospital in Memphis, TN. I am sure that this is where this issue was bought, probably by my older brother. In buying the next issue in Georgia, I was relieved that the prices had came back down to 30 cents. It always struck me as odd at the time. It took me nearly 30 years later to figure out what it was all about.

Wow ! Literally looked at that cover a thousand times and never noticed something that glaringly obvious. Embarrassing...
No idea when I first noticed it, but have never liked it, just made the cover seem incomplete for me.

First thought was 6.5 but probably closer to 7.0.

5.5 for me.

Wow that is quite a haul do you live near one of the test markets?
Hi Cosmic!

I have Avengers 147 variant as a 3 on my 1-5 rarity scale so it is about middle of the road scarce. In that condition however it is desirable and should sell quickly.
Thanks for the information, and a very accurate prediction. Listed and sold in 10 minutes!
That's because Metarog is the man!

Been a while since a post in this thread!
Great editions NP_Gresham.
I have always thought the blue shades of ASM 148 really make that cover pop! One of the first ASMs I remember buying as a kid.

I have never seen this one before either.

My wife and I finished the series last night. I wouldn't say that we hated it, but just felt it was... . It had a few good moments, but over all it was fairly boring and poorly written/acted.
I thought there was NO chemistry between Jessica and Luke.
I'm really worried about the Luke Cage series because I thought he was a very weak character.
I think they could have edited out 90% of the weird neighbor lady. Talk about annoying! She added nothing to the show.
The final scene with Kilgrave's dad was eye-rolling bad.
I agree with many people who think it would have played better as a 7 or 8 episode series. The pacing simply felt off at 13 episodes.
My wife and I just finished it last night as well. I actually thought it was very good. Some of the violence was over the top for me, but understand the need to set the tone for grittiness.

Thanks everyone. It's great to be done and finally be a member of this club.
Congrats, now on to the 35 cent variant set!

Roger is the man!
Thanks Reg... we have to help each other out when we can.
I have to start looking for the rest of these in earnest as I'm only about half way through.
I miss the chase sometimes myself.
(but then I look at all the new Spider-Man variants and am glad I hung up my web shooters.)

My favorite possession that I bought off the rack is my 1978 Amazing Spider-Man calendar. I loved flipping through the pages of that thing each month.
Some tremendous artwork in these things.

Sold Dave a sweet ASM 121. We literally made a deal within 30 minutes and Dave paid within minutes of the deal being done. Great communications.

Would this be the right place to bring up "sticker" variants?I remember some one bringing it up years ago but...that was years ago.
Jimmers
We used to joke about them over at stlcomics. Think Roger had some examples posted over there as well.

Hi Robert
No I did not get to go this time, maybe next year.
