Oblivion Song just got picked up by Universal for a movie. Probably explains the uptick. I started a little late to the series but was able to back fill 1-5 at cover price just a couple months ago. Now I notice #1's price is already 2x-3x the price. Ive personally loved the series.

For weekly pull lists, Ive only ever used Midtown Comics due to their great selection and price. I have ordered from many many comic shops and ebay sellers. My main gripe with midtown is they take about a week or more before your items ship, but they do have great prices and I love their site to see the major variants.

Orly? Nice to hear. Im a huge scifi fan and ive been loving this series. I have them all. The art is solid and imaginative. The premise is intriguing and fun to follow. And the characters keep me interested (while im in complete disagreement with them) This last issue broke some new ground, quite alot of action and a good cliff hanger as we see some old characters return, but different. Of course thats me. I do not like his the walking dead but cant say ive read much else of kirkman

Well that makes sense. First 10 i ever saw was this one sitting at my LCS. They want $200. Thought i might have been lucky just to see one >.<

Wow! Did i read that right? The max fee is Five GRAND!? Holy €%£¥! Yea these tier’d fees make no sense to me. Maybe if they could guarantee it wouldn’t be damaged. But I suppose its all because people will pay it, like anything else.

Isnt the grading process the same for every book? Curious how a more expensive book cost CGC more $$ to grade?

Agreed on this. He did make it, but why he published at 227? Should have waited til 300. Maybe he thought he wouldnt make it? Was there some other related milestone for 227 that I dont know about?

I also enjoyed the read on this. Im usually have a hard time getting into the DC universe and hate zombies. But I was pleasantly surprised on this one. Shannon Maer(Edit: and Mattina) are making some amazing covers for this.

It does seem that you can find a lot of the old variants for cheaper then the newer ones. But its just hard to pass them up sometimes. Would have never seen some of my favorite artists without them (Kirkham Venoms, SKAN, Maer, Del'Otto). But yes I do agree it can create a cluster of false value.

Agreed. Ive seen several for hundreds of $$ that really weren’t all that special. But I dont mind spending $10 for some decent art. Does seem to be a slippery slope tho and creates problems.

Greetings Friends, I am back to collecting for the first time since I was a teenager in the 90s. One of the first things I noticed is just how many variants are available now. My LCS told me to get the Previews catalog to see whats available and order them 2months in advance(Ex. DCeased #1 Mattina variant). I did that, ordered the variants I liked and all was well for a bit. Fast forward a few weeks, I start to see all kinds of beautiful "exclusive" variants from companies Ive ordered from before (Ex. The Comic Mint DCeased #1 Shannon Maer variant). These are not in previews and I am trying to find a way to see whats available BEFORE my previews order is due. How do exclusive variants work? Are they all sanctioned by diamond/publisher (or some authority)? Are these variants printed along with the regular comics or are these not related and basically people just replacing the cover on their own (I hope not)? Is there any ways to see WHATS available for a particular issue before my LCS is on my case about not getting my previews order in on time? Ive had some success with midtown publishing the cover image before I see it other places, but only have their exclusives and its hit or miss. Can any company that is willing to pay for 5000 cover printings and commission an artist do this? Or only some approved "partner" by some "authority"? Im guessing they do this on purpose to try and drive more sales and I am probably out of luck, but I would like to stop ordering multiples of an issue just because I didnt see it on time. How do YOU find the variants available? Thanks!

Hi Comic friends! Found my old box of comics from Jr high and decided to check out my LCS. Been HOOKED ever since. Been looking into having some comics graded and neat stuff. Seems this is the place to be. Spent the afternoon in the sun with a beer in my hand reading my most recent acquisition (Venom #3). Think i could get quite use to this! Thanks for having me
