  1. I rescued 4 short boxes from an in-law's attic. Lot includes complete 1-70 Spawn, a bunch of late 80s early 90s X-books, Infinity War, some indies, and what's pictured. They were literally a day away from being tossed when I was called. Makes me wonder just how many books actually get thrown out even in 2017.
  2. Haven't been to that one yet. Hopefully I'll be dug out by summer and check it out!
  3. Never know, there could be some great pieces there today!
  4. I live in "The Icebox of Connecticut" which is always 5 to 15 degrees colder than the coldest spot in the state. The only thing wrong with this storm is that the pub 200 yards away closed for the day. First time all winter.
  5. From NW CT right at the Mass border in the Berkshires. Blizzard conditions with 2 ft snow drifts already. Glad I hadn't put my snow shoes in the attic yet.
  6. Compared to other apps on my phone with which I read news article I really like the new boards. It's great for a 5-10 minute distraction. My only complaint is the size restriction on images. If I can't simply click and post from my phone I'm less likely to share. That won't be a problem for me until I have another sales thread, but I'll deal. So far so good!
  7. Paul is a fantastic addition to the community and I look forward to doing more business and trading collecting stories in the future. It's people like him who make me want to conduct all my comic sales here on the boards. Good luck on your Astonishing Tales run!
  8. Chris is a stand up collector and an asset to the community. He's got passion for comics and transact them with a keen eye for them. Looking forward to working with you again soon!
  9. Sorry, its a Buck-ten for Bucky-Gwen. For decades it was a constant truth that in the Marvel Universe Bucky, Gwen, and Uncle Ben stay dead. With so many meaningless deaths and resurrections we at least could collectively feel the impact of these three deaths. Nothing is sacred, except the dollar. That said, and to get back on topic, I'm loving Paper Girls and wonder if we'll see any uptick when slabs hit the market. Especially without any variant covers (bravo to this!)
  10. Quite frankly, with Bucky and Gwen everywhere I'm surprised Marvel hasn't pulled a trifecta and propped up Uncle Ben in a "Weekend at Bernie's" themed variant cover cavalcade. I'd buy that for a dollar!
  11. OMG, Marvel Tales #257 is ON. FIRE. You guys, this reprint of ASM #238 is the one to get. Stock up on this one fast. Forget the drek Copper Age original and its pesky tattooz. ok that was snarky...but jeez!
  12. It was a real pleasure doing business with Michael, who recently made an Amazing Spider-Man purchase from me. He's definitely one of the many reasons this community is so great, a true asset. I'm glad to know him and look forward to working with him again in the future. Thank you for helping to make the boards my favorite place to fund and invest in my comic passion. Thanks once again! Ben
  13. Further to that I'll add that in my own case I lurked and never created an account for months, the only reason I signed up was because I was seriously considering buying something. I ended up not doing it but I was real close to being a first post/takeit guy so I can understand why it might happen. Valid point. Although I have been here 10 years I only recently started contributing to the chatter. I lurked for almost a year before registering and it only took 9 years to start "building a rep." Patience is a virtue. Worst case scenario I have to cancel a $20 order Thanks for the input!
  14. Was this purchase less than 24 hours ago? That's what it looks like to me. I would wait at least a few more days before getting worried. I appreciate the advice and was planning on doing just that. I'll give it a week. I'd rather not have to add more boring rules to my sales threads because of one (potential) bad apple. I like the casual camaraderie of so many sales threads here. Thanks once again!
  15. Hi All, I have a few questions about a purchase someone made on my CA/Modern sales thread. Someone posted that they'll take a specific book and I responded with a thank you and a PM was on its way. PM went out within 15 mins of the buyer's post with a WTTB and instructions on how I can invoice via PP. Hasn't been read yet. I raised an eyebrow initially because the buyer's 1st post was in my thread. But after looking at his/hers profile I find that the acct was registered at 11:00pm and the 1st (and still only) post was at 11:01pm. I sent a second PM this evening expressing my mild concern and asked when I can expect to receive an email so I can invoice. Nothing. I know there's a 30 day window to resolve issues, but I'm curious to know how I can back out of this transaction if it comes to that. Is this likely a shill? And if so, for what purpose? To tie up a $20 book? It's no big deal for me to hold the book for a month, but it's a shame to hold it up as it's a part of a 3 book run that some other buyer may want. Anyone come across this kind of (potential) shenanigans before? Thanks in advance
  16. -slym Walter White did it and the RV was fine. ...until he and Jesse went for another cook way out in the high dessert.
  17. Ugly old things can be worth money though. What is a Hummel ? Ever hear about the Frog who needed a bank loan and all he had for collateral was a bunch of hummels?
  18. Don't know if it's hot or not but I picked up Skottie Young's "I Hate Fairyland" and its more adorably vulgar "Eff Fairyland" variant. They were selling like crazy in my LCS. It's a fun 5 minute read.
  19. Would you PLEASE do so? I long for the days of newsstand issues bought at the local drug store. Wait. What? Am I in the wrong thread? Who are you people? Where's my teeth?
  20. I would too. Retailer variants depreciate the day after release. If I were you, I'd sell the NYCC set. At the moment, they seem REALLY rare. My favorite is the Emerald City CC version (Milo Goes to College cover swipe). I've only seen 2 sold on ebay since July. All the other covers seem to be plentiful by comparison.
  21. Good idea It is. I enjoy seeing those types of lists. Probably best it gets thrown in the WCNGH thread. I'm quite happy having found every punk album cover swipe (to date). Now to backfill my old record collection with the original albums to match each book. I only have a handful that survived my teen and college years. Collecting is hard. And fun.
