  1. Joey just bought a plethora of Spideys from me and the transaction could not have been smoother. From the negotiation to delivery he was amiable, professional, and an all around good guy to work with. I look forward to doing more business with him in the future. He's definitely a rock star boardie!
  2. I know I've left a few notes about Randall already, but it cannot be said enough how much of a stand-up guy he is. He has made a number of purchases from me in the recent past and each and every one of them as been more seamless than the last. Again, a great example of why this community works and I'd work with him anytime. (thumbs u
  3. I just got back a 9.8 & a 9.6 of the color-cover. -slym Argh! I hate when that happens. I rarely submit moderns for that reason. If it's not 9.8 it's . With a BA and older if I'm off my estimate by as much as a point I don't sweat it.
  4. I got these two back from CGC today. I had a hunch the sketch copy was a 9.9 candidate. 9.8 is no slouch, though. I didn't press either book. Now the question is whether I part with them, wait until a possible movie bump, or hoard them like all my other books?
  5. Mike is a stand up guy. I look forward to doing more business with him in the future. He's definitely good people. (thumbs u
  6. Randall is an absolute pleasure to work with. He makes doing business here on the boards my preferred method of dealing in books. Each transaction we've conducted has been better than the previous. Once again he is an asset to the community. (thumbs u
  7. I have all the album cover parodies and love them all. It is interesting they aren't going up in price, I agree. I see some of the "microprint" books (the greyed out Big Black and Bad Brains albums) going for a bit more, but those are the only ones I didn't buy. They kind of remind me of the B&W Luke Star Wars book. Why bother.
  8. Randall is absolutely good people. The comic transaction we had is the reason I prefer doing business here over other venues. It was seamless. He's a friendly and amiable guy and an asset to the boards. Hope to chat again soon.

  10. Just imagine what would happen if AF15 had the origin of Dr Strange as well? I know, right?!
  11. Was flipping through a box of old train magazines at a flea market by myself this weekend when for a nanosecond I thought I'd hit the lottery. But for the cost of a lottery ticket I was able to sit in the sun and relive a happy childhood memory.
  12. Jeff is an asset to the boards and one of the many reasons conducting business here trumps other venues. He's affable and easy going and a pleasure to do business with. I'm looking forward to selling and buying more from him again. (thumbs u
  13. Meeklo, I got the same email about an hour ago. He must be burning the midnight oil.
  14. I don't normally collect moderns but this title caught my eye. I just completed the set with the Milo Goes To College cover today. Who can resist classic punk comics? And the story is awesome!
  15. Justin's efforts to help fellow boardie, Stormsurge, are monumental. He is to be commended for being a valuable asset to this community. Thank you for helping me to make my first sale here while at the same time helping a stranger with tragic circumstances. Thank you very much!
  16. Sharon is a wonderful person with a heart of gold. Anyone who spends any time here knows this. She deserves sainthood for orchestrating the Stormsurge cause. The boards are a better place becausd of people like her. Thanks you for everything
  17. Wayne is a stand up guy and a credit to the boards. He bought a Silver Surfer 14 from me that I had donated to the Stormsurge cause. He couldn't have made my first sale go smoother. Hope to work with him again in the future!
  18. Kind of shocked this is only 7.5, but there are some significant stains on the back cover top and bottom. Stil presents very well, though. Looking for SS #4 now. Love that Thor cover.
  19. Made it 3 mins into this clip and had to stop. His voice was giving me a headache. This guy needs a girlfriend. Badly.
  20. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the movie. It was fun AND smart. And the Bond producers have their work cut out for them. 007 has nothing on Fury. Few favorite moments. Spoiler warning, do not open if you haven't seen it. Minor nitpick. Again, spoiler. I'll be seeing it again in the theater and again and again at home when it is released. As far as Batman vs Avengers vs Iron Man vs Cap vs Super Man vs Squirrel Girl goes, I'm just happy I'm alive to realize my childhood heroes on the big screen at all. Some movies are better than others, but I appreciate any comic book movie I see. Are X3 and Wolverine:Origins considered comic book movies, though? Maybe I'll just say I didn't watch them.
  21. Picked this up in last night's HA auction. I'm not well versed in the nuances of pedigree collecting, but does the notation of the "Don/Maggie collection" denote a pedigree? Or is it just that, a collecton (of non-homgenous books collected from multilple sources and presented as one impressive gathering of books)? I love the book either way. Happy to have bought it.
  22. For about the 12,000th time, that book was not published in November, 1969. That book was published/onsale in August, 1969. If you want the Spider-Man book that was on sale in November, 1969, you'd need to buy Spider-Man 81. This book, for example, has a cover date of December, 1969, yet has a date stamp received of October 29. I'm not sure why this doesn't compute for people. For posterity, especially when purchasing a slabbed copy, some people prefer to own something with their own birth month in black and white. From wikipedia LINK : "The general practice of most mainstream comic book companies since the creation of the comic book in the 1930s was to date individual issues putting the name of a month (and much later the year as well) on the cover which was generally two months after the actual release date. For example, a 1951 issue of Superman which had the cover date of July would have been published two months earlier from that date in the month of May, generally speaking. In 1973 the discrepancy between the cover date and the publishing date went from two months to three months.[2] In 1989 the cover date and publishing date discrepancy was changed back to two months, though generally each comic book company now uses its own system. Of the two major American comic book publishers, DC Comics continues to put cover dates on the cover. Marvel Comics stopped putting cover dates on the cover in October 1999; instead, the "cover" date was moved to the indicia on an interior page." The inconsistencies between publishers and time periods just makes me feel even more "meh" about the argument. I want something that says MY birth month on it. And seeing as I couldn't have read any comics when I was only a few weeks old, and I certainly couldn't have read the "true published month" issue while in the womb, I am perfectly happy to display my birth month books that display my birth month. Just my two cent
