  1. I'm not a regular advance order guy but want to put in a spec order soon. DCBS or Midtown at this point? Mainly looking to not get shorted (books are not variants) and for the books to arrive in nice condition. As far as condition is it a must to pay for the bagged & boarded upcharge? Appreciate any guidance.
  2. Yeah, I agree. The X-Men #171 was new to me, by her displaying her powers (using the soulsword) it kind of threw off my opinion that the Magik mini was the "obvious" 1st appearance. I still consider it her 1st, but there is debate that #171 could be considered somewhat a cameo.
  3. Loved his work. When I was a kid I first saw his art on the Sons of the Tiger series in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu. He was the first artist that I actively followed to any series he went on. The Avengers was my favorite title and I just about died when he took over that book. I still consider it the highlight of the Avengers run.
  4. There's talk that Professor Hulk (Hulk with Banner's brain) will be in Avengers #4. As far as Mister Miracle, I'd be watching issue #9 (along with the previously mentioned Mister Miracle #1, 2, 4 & 6). It just makes too much sense that they would be adapting that story to start off the New Gods Universe.
  5. More Mighty World of Marvel silliness. Remove Iron Man, insert Spider-Man, presto new cover!
  6. Just a small update on the Magik 1st appearance mess. In Uncanny X-Men 171, Illyana has a sequence where she attacks Kitty and pulls the Soul Sword from limbo for the 1st time. This is the 1st time she has shown her new powers. When Kitty subdues her Illyana snaps out of her trance and cries "I remember" (in reference to her time in limbo). Soul Sword is not named (but cuts Kitty while in her unsolid form) and term Magik has still not been used. Published months before the mini series Magik, which was published months before New Mutants 14. Uncanny X-Men 160 (1st teen Illyana) Uncanny X-Men 171 (1st and only Soulsword before Magik mini) Magik 1-4 (Storyline of how Illyana became Magik from 6 years in limbo) New Mutants 14 (1st time Magik shown with New Mutants) Take your pick.
  7. Overstreet #47 $5 *Saga Vol 1 $5 *Batman: Night of the Owls $10 Spaceman HC $10 Joker: Death of the Family $10
  8. That's him!! Couldn't remember the first name and butchered the last, but that's who I meant.
  9. Obviously he doesn't know how to grade and sent it into CGC for their professional opinion. You would think CGC would be libel for something in this situation.
  10. That looks like what happened. The same seller sold a CGC 4.5 last month and it looks much closer to a 7.5. It went for $655, so no doubt whoever bought it has already cracked it out and sent it back to CGC for a new grading.
  11. I always thought Mark Schultz was very Frazetta influenced, but doesn't look like a knock off. The Kelley Jones comparison to Wrightson was a good one also. I believe Wrightson actually contacted Jones about finishing up his Frankenstein series for IDW when he could no longer do it. Holtz was another artist I thought had some of Wrightson's qualities.
  12. I believe that is the War is Hell #1 lot that was offered on the boards awhile back, the stories are all reprints. The pages are stats made from the original stories printed in the 1950s (either from films or original art) that were reformatted to fit bronze age comic sizing, I think the seller mentioned that some panels had to be extended on the edges and there was probably some touch up ink added as needed on the stats. Possible some wording was edited if there was anything offensive for the 1970s market. These were the pages the comic was printed from, the color guides would be done off of copies of these pages.
