  1. Yeah, I cringe every time someone mentions it as a movie property. That series was made for Showtime or Netflix as a series where you could introduce the Minute Men at the pace the comic book did.
  2. Is it really that much different than having a book mutilated to remove color touch? They are both removing chunks of the book in order to go from restored to a blue label.
  3. I think I might like the 8.0 better than the 8.5
  4. It's just my opinion, but I believe that the market that is buying up these "preview" books are a different market than the ones made up of collectors/readers. The Modern Spec market has been able to create a pocket market off of these type books with collectors/investors that do not read the books. There is a bit of dishonesty when these type books are marketed as 1st appearances, when most readers understand that these are advertisements or promo material sent out by the publisher to promote the true titles. I've listened to people characterize DC Comics Presents 26 with the promo story of the New Teen Titans as the same thing as the promotional advertising done in the Marvel Age title. One being a first story specifically created for that book and the other being promotional pages of the upcoming new title. It's either dishonesty by someone pumping a spec book they are holding or ignorance of the difference between a 1st appearance, and promotional material put out.
  5. One of my favorites from the Werewolf by Night series.
  6. I used them about a month or 2 ago and books arrived in really nice shape. My order did not have the wrap or the rubber band. I think my order was for around 35 books, so maybe they do it differently for larger/smaller orders. I was very happy with the service, pretty much flawless books.
  7. It's a 1 panel cameo by Circe, the Greek Goddess from classic literature. Everyone knows this character has nothing to do with the Sersi character Kirby created in the Eternals, just like all the other Eternals and their Greek Literature counterparts that have appeared in comics. But yeah, it is an interesting curiosity, and in todays market it is easy enough to take advantage of insufficiently_thoughtful_person ebay buyers.
  8. Doh!! I think Bill Robinson is a Board Member. Yes, it was the criminally underrated James Robinson who was the writer.
  9. Both "Marvels" by Busiek and Ross & "Kingdom Come" by Waid & Ross were excellent books. I guess Marvels ranked a little higher because it was the 1st time I really saw Alex Ross and his amazing paintings. I also really enjoyed the Elseworlds "The Golden Age" by Bill Robinson & Paul Smith. Goes without saying but "Dark Knight Returns" was also a fav.
  10. This is just sooo great!! Jason Goodman resurrected this company about 10 years ago with the sole purpose being for it to get some type of tv/movie/media deal before he ran out of money. He managed to keep it going for about 3 or 4 issues before it then sunk into the ground. Good for him that 10 years later Comic Book Movie Hysteria has taken off to the point that even Atlas was able to snag a deal! Who in the world would throw good money at these characters with the thoughts of sinking 60 million into a movie??? And yes, I say all this as a true Atlas fanboy.
  11. Picked up the Chris Bachalo Death piece this month and the Scott McDaniel Deathstroke/Batman piece awhile back.
  12. That looks like an Advanced Preview Copy that was sent to comic book shops. Most of the major publishers would send these out to drum up sales. I've never seen a copy with that particular type of cover letter. I picked up a "100 Bullets #1" on ebay for around $25. Most of these type items sell for $10 -$30, although you will see people listing them for some obscene prices.
  13. At that price I would just cherry pick the heck out the series and leave the mass of junk behind. Once you've pulled all the decent 10 cent series stuff he will have to give away the other 45 long boxes.
  14. I've heard he is an acquired taste, but the one time I met him he was great to my wife, talked and posed for pictures with my young son and did his best McFleagle Brothers Yosemite Sam imitation for me. What's not to like?
  15. I bought a 100 copies of the Cerebus 0 just to get the Gold copy . To make matters worse when shipped the Gold copy was mangled. When I call Aardvark Vanheim Dave answered the phone and he told me to speak with Diamond. I explained I was just a fanboy & had ordered them directly from him. He seemed to be somewhat shocked that a collector would order that many copies for the gold edition
  16. Those are printers creases on the front and back covers. The paper they printed that book on is the worst I have ever seen. The mask is missing a strip of white cardboard on the perforated side. The white card board had a bead of glue on it that adhered it to the newsprint for a week or two before it came loose. Doubt it gets a NM either, but it is a nice copy.
  17. I've always loved that Magazine, it was an out of reach key to a young collector back in the 1970's. Back in the day (mid 1970s) it was one of the more expensive books around and then it just kept becoming less and less important. It seems over the last few years it has started climbing again. I've mentioned this before but back in the late 70s/early 80s my older brother took some original comic art to trade to the local flea market guy. He ended up getting to choose between a high grade Savage Tales #1 or a lower grade Amazing Fantasy 15. Yep, he took home that Savage Tales #1.
  18. I wouldn't spend too much time detailing each issue. MyComic Shop has buy pricing online for you to see and after the first dozen issues prices drop off dramatically. By the early 1960s issues they have little value in the condition that they will grade them at, Past that time period they aren't offering anything.
