  1. I answered this question a few times on the boards already, Fawcett comics did indeed not make all their books in multiples of four. There are many instances of there just being one leave stapled instead of 2.
  2. Ah, color markers, that's another thing Dylan (the person who started this thread that we are all commenting on) said should not affect a book being labeled as restored or not:
  3. I am in Canada and the best place price wise was buying them on e-bay
  4. Then why didn't you note the trimming on the books you sold on e-bay. What the hell Dylan?!
  5. Got this at the mycomicshop auction along with a voldy copy of batman 609
  6. Low grade Fawcett books went for record prices on last night's Heritage Auction, but one was not as crazy as the rest and it's the one I got.
  7. Seems like things may be changing. Heritage had an auction last night and some books went for crazy money (comparing to previous sales and GPA). Master Comics 48 in GD+ raw went for over $200 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/master-comics-48-fawcett-publications-1944-condition-gd-/a/122045-13302.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 By comparison, I had purchased the same issue as a slabbed 3.5 a few month ago on comiclink for less than $100 https://comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fbids.asp%3Fpg%3D2&id=1394448 Master Comics 25 in GD+ went for over $400 (highest price ever achieved for that grade) https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/master-comics-25-fawcett-publications-1942-condition-gd-/a/122045-13300.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 The craziest one though is a Master Comics 41 VG that is trimmed and sold for a whopping $312, so double guide and higher than the GPA on non trimmed https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/master-comics-41-fawcett-publications-1943-condition-apparent-vg/a/122045-13301.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 It could be people didn't realize it was trimmed and bid on the fly, don't know. Other really high new records are for early Master Comics which include #8 and #18 in VG- for $840 and $600 respectively. https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/master-comics-8-fawcett-publications-1940-condition-vg-/a/122045-13296.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/master-comics-18-fawcett-publications-1941-condition-vg-/a/122045-13297.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116
  8. Really love these comics that just came in. Affordable keys are so fun.
  9. Well, that's a comic I didn't know I wanted. Thanks man and Cheers!
  10. Don't, that money will be wasted on a book that offers no value graded. If you want a graded signed book, then you have to wait to have an opportunity where CGC can witness the signature. The certificate means nothing and won't count for CGC. If you want to do this for yourself and never ever sell it, then go for it. But if you want to be the owner of a collectible that is worth something on the comic market, then avoid.
  11. You are missing nothing. I have built a wonderful collection without ever buying from Chuck.
  12. Big difference, buying these gives CGC money. Buying the others does not.
  13. Of course you got it for cheaper, books from the 70s and up with restoration are avoided like the plague since non restored copies are in huge supply. If anyone thought they could get a better valued book by scraping off the colour touch, that would have been done long ago. No matter how small it is, restoration removal would keep this book far away from the high grade range. Grading notes will not be specific, but it doesn't really matter for the reasons I mentioned.
  14. Scraping off a comic? For sure it would drop. Do comics with tape pull gets 8.0s often? Because it would be the same defect.
  15. It was most definitely a tongue in cheek comment.
  16. Action Comics 1, Detective Comics 27, Amazing Fantasy 15, Batman 1, Captain America 1. Choose any of those and you should be good. Anything else, and your money is better spent elsewhere since investing in comics has been a sure fire way for many to lose money. Ask anyone who "invested" in Marvel Premier 15.
  17. If it hasnt been clear with the answers by now, there's no actual answer to this. If you have a 9.9 and you want to sell it, best put it up for auction to see what people are willing to spend on that particular book.
  18. I have a job, how else can I buy all my sweet GA Fawcetts.
  19. It all depends on what kind of comics you like and if you want to read them or collect the highest grades.
