  1. You might get more traction if you re-name the thread "Florida Man Creates Comics, Belittles CGC Boards."
  2. I will resist my impulse to Let Me Google That For You. https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/4084/ https://www.cgccomics.com/pdf/restoration-grading-scale-handout.pdf
  3. Just picked up a couple of low grade but good 'uns:
  4. Ye olde dichotomy: Give a man a fish vs. teaching him to fish. It's a regular 36th Chamber here in the Newbie forum!
  5. After being told it was for the buyer's personal collection.
  6. By how much was the book underpriced? Did you mean to price it higher when first listed, or did the book heat up and you hadn't gotten around to changing the price?
  7. http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=How+do+I+get+CGC+grader's+notes%3F
  8. I can’t add much to the previous handful of posts. Nik was a great guy, funny, kind and generous to a fault. He was a mentor who helped get me up to speed on current grading, buying and selling but also offered sage advice and insights into family life for a new dad. He had a sharp wit and always told it like it is, ready with a zinger if you were a buddy and especially if you were an a-hole. Those were fun times to be collecting and on the Boards; they never have been the same since he passed. R.I.P. Nik.
  9. Unfortunately, yes, it will still be there. Thanos has legs, folks of all ages know him as a major character. One of my few regrets is selling my copy early on when the price was rising, expecting another MCU villain bump and drop after the film came out. Oops!
  10. Yes, it is very possible in the '50s and '60s, Marvels especially. It does not look trimmed to me from those pictures, but its hard to tell. If it was trimmed in order to approve the appearance and grade, it is a particularly inept job. That said, this is a very common book. There's almost 100 copies for sale right now on ebay. Whether it is trimmed or not, since the edge bothers you, why not just look for another copy with a nicer, cleaner edge?
  11. Here's my three cents: 1. Good luck with the new venture! 2. As a customer, a store designed like a labyrinth would turn me away. I don't think that's a good idea. 3. What's the provenance of the building?
  12. I would recommend checking out these threads.
  13. Sure do! I find the dealer reports pretty entertaining. Although the percentage of reports that contain some thoughtful insights is in the minority, the thinly veiled ploys to get rid of overstock are always a hoot. I’ve only read a few in the latest edition, but so far my favorite is the one touting religious comics, books with autos on the cover or covers with Hawaiian shirts as on the move up. They may have also said generic, late-run, post-code Gleason crime and 9th printing Classics llustrated are going through the roof.
  14. Selling Forum Guidelines Rule #1: 1. Books must be CGC or raw only, or items directly related to comics.
  15. It'll be worth it. FWIW, I still have 3 separate groupings of boxes organized A-Z (around 40 short boxes total) that at some point need to be combined and interfiled.
