  1. Rawhide Kid #35, G/VG, $15. Kirby cover, two interior stories by Jack Davis (!) and one by Gene Colan.
  2. Romance comics of course; Jack was happily married to Roz Kirby for over 50 years. Just a small thread. Sales details are as follow: I can ship up to 3-4 books in the Priority Envelope for $7.00; boxed a little higher and at cost (around at $8-$10) but will also cheerfully ship via First Class (starts at $4.50) to keep the costs down. PM for international shipping quotes or questions. As usual, drop the if you'd like the book in the thread or via PM. In the event more than one person would like a book, the first by timestamp gets it regardless whether via PM or in the thread. Payment is expected within 7 days of invoice; payment accepted via PayPal; checks or postal money orders are fine, too. And of course, if you're not happy, return the books for your money back.
  3. If I'm lucky enough to live until old age and die of natural causes, then I will have gotten rid of it already. I want any surviving relatives to have the least amount of burden possible. The death of an immediate family is difficult enough; having to deal with disposing of and disseminating a lifetime’s worth of possessions can make it overwhelming. If I go suddenly and unexpectedly, I’ve spoken to the missus about what to do. Its not written into a will, but she knows who to call.
  4. Blowie, you’re the Bad Luck Shleprock of comic shows. Keep up the photo shoots and thanks for the report! I would not have been happy dropping $30+ for that. A few years ago Marky Ramone was at a small local show. I brought a few records from one of his pre-Ramones bands (Dust) thinking I’d get them signed, but could not wrap my head around his fee and didn’t bother.
  5. FWIW, I sometimes have trouble highlighting text in a way that brings up the "quote selection" button, for some reason it won't function.
  6. That's a scam. These guys talk about it here on youtube. here There's been several threads over in Comics General as well.
  7. No. It's a made-up "pedigree" by an ebay seller. You can read up on some established legitimate and recognized peds here, along with the criteria to be considered a pedigree: http://comicpedigrees.com/
  8. Defenders? I don’t know what Shad has been smoking, but Defenders #1 isn’t what I’d call hot. Prices in most grades are trending down. 12 month average on an 8.0 is $127, 8.5 is $130, 9.0 is $209 and a 9.2 is $210. Prices for Marvel Feature #1, their first proper appearance, excepting their loose teaming in Sub-Mariner #34 and #35, are a bit better. Choose the ASM #50. Even in low grades it takes the Defenders to the mat. 12 month on a 4.0 is $298, a 5.0 is $396 and up and up for higher grades. And if your motivations are mostly financial, swap out the ASM #122 for ASM #101. It's currently selling for about double of either #121 or #122.
  9. Well, there's multiple ways. After you've typed in your search term, say "Tales to Astonish #1", click on the "Advanced" button right next to the "Search" button. That will give you a whole page of various filters and descriptors. Scroll down to "Sellers." Click on "Only include items from" and then pick "Exclude" from the drop down menu, and enter "mycomicsshop" in the box. Voila, MCS will not be included in your search. You can also use a search operator like the + or - sign. After you've typed in your search term, say "Tales to Astonish #1", leave a space then type "-series". Voila, MCS will not be included in your search. You can further refine your search by adding other terms. I don't know if I would use "-1st" since you may be deleting sellers who write redundant things like "TALES OF SUSPENSE #1 CGC 5.5 FN- 1959, Scarce 1st Issue" You can also refine it by choosing where you want to search under "Categories" in the left column on the search page. FWIW, I brought the MCS use of "1st series" up in Comics General. Conan responded and is aware of it but didn't see any issues with it. Getting back to TOS #1, a 1.0 just sold on the boards.
  10. The current topic prompted me to see what's doing on ebay. I'm counting 11 TOS #1 and 12 TTA #1! Seems like an unusually high amount. Of course at a glance it looks like a fair amount are priced on the aggressive side.
  11. Same here. The one I use is designed for LPs; I use a couple of beater records as reinforcement. It's easier to maneuver and less bulky than a backpack. Looks sort of like these:
  12. He already has a handful of negs and neutrals, too.
  13. I can't. Once upon a time there was no fee. However, when everybody and his brother began calling for grader's notes, management realized they had another potential revenue stream and the fee was imposed.
  14. If several CGC members are pals, does that make them friends with benefits?
  15. Nice blues, lots of copies have that slight fade towards gray.
  16. I think if you look and are patient, you can get a Sig Series book for much less than $200. Here are the first 3 I found in recent completed listings, and there’s plenty more. 17. This isn't new either, think I picked it up in 2012.
