  1. This is an instance where I'd prefer a higher grade copy but bought this one anyway.
  2. More Bronze first issue goodness, Sgt. Stryker's Death Squad.
  3. This wasn't from the show, picked it up at the LCS last week though. Possibly the dullest Severin cover ever? Lead story is by Bill Everett.
  4. Came across 3 copies of Fast Willie Jackson #1. I opted for the cheapest copy.

  6. No big books or uber high grade gems this time around, mostly nice run fillers.
  7. It's later! Here's a few low grade Kirby Westerns:
  8. I'll try and post some funnybook pictures later.
  9. Speaking of questions, I didn’t field as many crazy ones as usual and was mostly reciting the prices of the two AF #15s that were available. The one that stuck with me was the fellow holding some generic ‘90s or beyond book who asked what size bags he needed. Me: “For books like that, you’d want either Modern or Current sized bags.” Him: “Which boards should I use?” Me: “These boards designed to fit Modern or Current sized bags.” Him: “What’s the disadvantage of using Silver boards?” Me: “They won’t fit into the Modern or Current sized bags.”
  10. This was probably my least favorite BCC since it’s inception. Perhaps “Boston Comic Con” is destined for the scrap heap, to be replaced by “Fan Expo,” with a focus on celebrity meet-and-greets and impulse-buy tchotchkes. There were a lot less comic dealers than usual. I only made purchases from my regular go-to guys; other guys who set up either had more modern stuff or books priced to the moon way over FMV. One dealer had a nice batch of wall books, but with prices such as $1900 for a 1.8 TTA #27. Or you had guys with astronomical prices on low-to-midgrade run fillers in nasty old bags. You’ll see those at every show but here they were in overabundance. There was no OA this year except for Ted who brought a few Kirby pages with him. No Anthony Snyder, no Bechara. Overall it didn’t have the fun vibe it has had in the past. I’m no fan of getting stuck in an aisle amidst a cosplay photo-op, but I have to say I was even disappointed in the amount of cosplay I saw this year! Maybe it was a layout issue and they were hanging out in the CosplayPen? Usually folks parade up and down the aisles and I’m snapping photos right and left as they walk past the booth; all I got this year was mostly from Saturday and have been posted already, maybe about a dozen. On the plus side, I did see lots of women and young folks, always a good thing. Whether it will lead to long-term comic buying is another question.
  11. I think within the first 30 minutes we managed to annoy both Don Rosa and Neal Adams.
  12. I feel like an a-- to admit this, but I saw an obese man walk by in a Flash lighting bolt t-shirt and the first thing I thought of was Flash #115. I don't think I posted the WonderCar yet.
  13. It was sarcasm. Everyone knows you're the most funniest.
  14. Those are some of the same thoughts I had. It did seem too big and the aisles were too small. At the Seaport, there were several wide aisles leading through the hall. This years' were set up much narrower. There was TONS of unlicensed merch as described. An overwhelming amount, can't even hazard a guess as to how much more of this drek there was rather than comics. There was also endless Funko Pop figures and various tchotchkes. (BTW, I did see one booth at least with bootleg DVDs.) However, people seemed to be buying it. I want shows to be successful and not badmouth them, but this wasn't much of a comic con, it was more of a giant flea market for "fans." The bathroom situation wasn’t as dire as I initially expected; it was a great improvement over the prior location. Food also seemed to be easier accessible. Gotta stop here for now, more to follow.
  15. I think I've run into more boardies in the past than at this show This time around it was junkdrawer, underthebigw, ckb42, Beachbum, Kevlar, GACollectibles and of course America's Favorite Funnyman, Ryan. I missed junkdrawer's wall with my camera, but he posted some pix over in Events.
  16. Artist alley was slim pickins for me since I don't care so much about modern artists. More and more of the older generation is passing away, and I presume since those remaining don't pull in the crowds the same way programmers for this show didn't seek them out. I did get Arthur Adams to sign my Godzilla Special #1 and my son's Godzilla Compendium. Don't have a scan of the comic but here's the book:
  17. I couldn't post anything last night because when i got home it was time to make popcorn for the missus and son, who were watching a movie, do the laundry, make the dinner and best of all, fix the toilet.
  18. It's a good thing he was occupied talking to somebody or else that shot might've cost me $30. (Sigs were $50.) A few shots up on the catwalk:
