  1. HotFlips is moving on up. They finally got a piece of the pie. Fish don't fry in the kitchen, beans don't burn on the grill...
  2. Almost forgot: Here's some garden flowers in a shot especially composed for @chromium.
  3. Took a brief spin of the room after I arrived but haven't bought anything yet. There seems to be a surfeit of impulse-buy tchotchkes and less funnybook dealers, but I'm sure I'll find some nice books. After I wade through aisles of displays from T-Mobile, Geiko, Chevy....
  4. Vegetables have been doing great overall. Cucumbers and zucchini are rockin', more than we can keep up with eating. Tomatoes are mostly coming in nicely; the heirlooms are growing like crazy but the Early Girl hybrids are pooping out this year.
  5. The wishing well has seen better days and needs rebuilding, but the bees and butterflies love the liatris!
  6. It was a beautiful summer day here in MA, and the flower garden out front is looking quite nice.
  7. This is going to be short. I had to cut out early and was busy before I left. Long-windedness will follow tomorrow. For some reason, I think I left out my traditional Garden Report last year so I will correct that this time around.
  8. Now I've just started "All the Things That You Are: The Life of Tony Bennett" by David Evanier.
  9. Earlier this summer I read "Roman Candle: The Life of Bobby Darin" by David Evanier.
  10. Forget the beer, I’m packing bourbon. I’ll need some after hearing this ad infinitum: “That’s the first Spider-man? How much is it?” “XXX dollars” “What!? Why is it so much?"
  11. So it's not OA, but some of you folks might be interested. The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem MA is putting 90 of Kirk Hammett's classic Sci-Fi and horror movie posters on exhibit. It opens in a few days. https://www.pem.org/exhibitions/its-alive-classic-horror-and-sci-fi-art-from-the-kirk-hammett-collection
  12. If anybody's in the area, this show might be of interest. The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem MA is putting 90 of Kirk Hammett's classic Sci-Fi and horror movie posters on exhibit. 13. If 3 guys jumped on your back, would you leave them there or beat them off?
  14. 5. Seems to be a glitch. I started a thread this morning in the movie forum with several responses but showing zero views.
  15. Just be sure not to look at the staff directly in the eyes.
  16. No, I didn't make a scan or photo and I don't have any notes about it either. The majority of pence copies of any books I've had over the years have been Thorpe and Porter, but I can't recall for this particular issue.
  17. Cool! I should’ve been more aggressive about getting one when he was at a CA con several years back. He made a very rare appearance in Boston a few years ago as well, but it was an Anime con and tickets were sky high. I couldn’t justify the cost just to shake hands and get an autograph. I did manage to get a signed photo from a local dealer, though I do wish I could have met him. He wrote an autobiography years ago, but its in Japanese.
  18. Original Godzilla suit actor Haruo Nakajimi has passed away at 88. He was not only the original Godzilla, but the majority of monsters in all of Toho Studios kaiju eiga films from '54 to '72. He did an amazing job of infusing each monster with a different personality and brought joy to generations of kids. My personal favorite was probably the frenzied, flesh eating Gaira. 19. Numerically it's not but conceptually it is. Pretty much only thing he has in common with the Atom Age Rawhide Kid is the name, he's completely revamped as a new character, sort of like Showcase #4 Flash vs. the GA Flash.
  20. No. There's tons of pre-hero monster books with both their names on cover and/or splash page.
