  1. CGC holder. Top issue could be bindery related and the rest looks like it could be a combination of dirt and a scratch
  2. I have had this happen to me a few times, and while I was not happy about it while it was happening, CGC eventually found all the misplaced books. In some cases a considerable amount of time passed.
  3. I’ll be driving to the show. This means I can take back book is anyone wants me to take some back to Florida with me for a little TLC.
  4. Someone had to be looking at it when it was encapsulated. This is the equivalent of subway leaving a cutting board in your sandwich.
  5. Some books have loose staples from production. Do you have a picture of the book? That would be the easiest way to determine if would get a grade reduction due to the staples.
  6. Everyone is just a HOP, CHIP (bindery) and a BUMP from being a restoration/pressing professional.
  7. All too true these days. I would be more upset with myself than the seller if I sent a book in to CGC or put it into my personal collection raw without properly inspecting it first. Part of any hobby/ business venture/investment is to be informed and educated, and even with possessing that knowledge things happen. Usually I absorb any mistakes unless I know I was purposefully deceived, so any compensation on a sellers part is appreciated, especially if a significant period of time has passed since the transaction.
  8. That’s a question for CGC. But past experiences says if CGC didn’t have a contract with the artist for mail away sketches they will not fall under the SS umbrella and be downgraded or given green labels.
  9. If they would be unwitnessed sketches, it doesn’t really matter who he sends them to. The owner of the books should keep in mind there are some, other than CCS who have worked on thousands of SS books before CGC changed their policies. The whole educated consumer thing.
  10. My guess would be impact damage from hitting the bottom of the inner well with some force.
  11. Do you have the book in-hand? Run your finger over the area, or hold it up to the light at an angle. Do you see any indents, raised areas or dullness?
  12. I am getting my comic torture setup completed this weekend. Lights, camera, peroxide. Will post before and after pictures and observations.
