  1. In the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, the books appearance can be enhanced greatly.
  2. I’m going to do a few tests using peroxide and UV light and it’s affects on books. I can’t imagine anything good will come of it other than it looks pretty.
  3. Remember that at one point in time Jason Ewert had many following him and his uncanny ability to consistently get Uber high grades on his books. He was king of the hill for a little while, until it all unraveled around him.
  4. Looks like CGC is getting educated on what they need to look for (think micro-trimming) when it comes to blue Light and peroxide treatments.
  5. And this is going to become a bigger issue in the future, when many of these doctored books finally get sent in for grading. Not everyone slabs books, so many of these HOP’ED up books may already be circulating and changing hands, without any of the new owners knowing the books have had more than a dry cleaning and press done to them.
  6. My favorite cover is also issue 5. Lots going on and you are not overwhelmed by color alone.
  7. The poly bag is not the same as bagged and boarded. In many cases the poly bag is detrimental to the comic, especially the ones with very prominent seams. The seam acts like a saw blade slowly digging into the books cover. In some cases it can remove ink and paper. Always, always, always remove books from poly bags ASAP and send them to get properly pressed.
  8. If they don’t misplace them. Voldy has been really good at losing books.
  9. I press books for a living and I do not press every book I submit. You just have to develop a good eye, which takes time.
  10. And it is on very heavy. That amount of grease because it has been on the book a very long time will have eaten into some of the ink. Even if it were removed there would be telltale signs that grease pencil had been applied.
  11. You have to consider shipping times back to CGC, especially if they send it ground.
  12. Another book damaged by following the advice from the good captain.
  13. Looks like distributor ink. I also see dust shadows, some tanning and what appears to be an aggressive dry cleaning (it has telltale signs).
  14. 👍 I assumed it had to do with whatever a HOP treatment is.
