  1. Had a great time both days! Sold a good amount of the X-men books in my "Nothing But X-men" box during the Comic swap, happy to share the love of mutants with others!

@Robot Man I didn't get a chance to say "Hi" and introduce myself at your table, as you were busy with quite a large amount of pulps and Golden Age that Felipe (aka Flipmode Comics along with Jamie) was picking up from you. I did pick-up some nice Silver Age Green Lantern and a nice Dave Stevens cover from some of your boxes though!

@loboagain I realized now that you were right next to me during the swap! I had my eyes on that HOS 92 the whole night

Purchased a large stack of Bronze Age Horror from Terry Stroud, always great seeing him and digging through those boxes. All in all I left the event with more comics and more money than I started with, so it was a good one! Hope to do it all again next year.

Sadly this was before I started taking my collecting seriously (or having a job to support that), though I can say that I've always heard that the prior Cal Comic Con shows were things of legend here in Southern California. Really excited for this weekend, especially getting to say "Hello" and connect with everyone

This will be my first time doing the comic swap and I couldn't be more delighted. I'm torn between doing more trading, offering for sale, or a combo, but will be excited to bring everything from my personal collection.

just approach it as one big hangout and you’ll be be fine. I set up in 2020, and only attended/bought during the 2023 one, but enjoyed myself on either side of the table. I’d say focus more on your “for sale” inventory, but definitely bring some trade stuff. Just remember it’s a small table space, so don’t have too much room! Only bringing the top stuff to sell, and a few of those slabs to trade.

  4. With a little more than a week away, figured it would be worth a shot to post this...

Although I'll be bringing books to sell at the Comic Swap, I'll also be bringing a few books from my personal collection for the strict purpose of hopefully upgrading to higher copy via trade (i.e. I'm only getting rid of my copy if I can find the grade I'm looking for during the show). That being said, if anyone is looking to downgrade their copy from the list of books below AND get some cash out of it, come see me! My name is Aaron Perez, and I'll most definitely be wearing a hat, glasses, and an X-men t-shirt (not that any of that narrows it down in a room full of nerds).

    Giant Size X-men CGC 8.5 -> ISO CG 9.2
    Werewolf by Night 32 CGC 8.5 > ISO CGC 9.2 - 9.4
X-men 1 CGC 3.5 with unverified/unwitnessed "Stan Lee" signature on the cover > ISO CGC 4.5
    X-men 50 CGC 8.5  > ISO CGC 9.2 - 9.4

I've been saving up and I'm ready to deal! Looking forward to seeing every one at the show

  5. I only went Saturday, but I can definitely say the room didn't feel crowded/busy. I was able to walk around and browse freely in the two rooms. The hallway where the signings were going on got little hectic. Got there around 10:15am and found parking without issue. Some great books on display and great vendor line-up!, I picked-up some great looking X-men books to fill the gaps in my Bronze Age run or upgrade my existing copies.

As a pure comic collector with no interest in the massive event that is SDCC, this show was perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Will gladly go to the next event if they have one!

Every time, CGC increased the prices on all tiers an services. The chain reaction started.  Someone will send 25 books to save $25 dollars.

And these are the same people that have griped after every price increase and said "I'm done", yet still make a mad rush to submit when it happens

So with Paypal goods and services......Does Paypal keep the money from the seller until you verify that you received the item?.....asking as a rookie

No. Seller still gets paid instantaneously in their Paypal account as soon as you pay. The only difference is that in the even you don't receive the item/something happens to it, you are able to request a return of the funds you paid through paypal. Think of it as a 3rd party insurance/guarantee in the event you never receive it/etc.

    Where was this originally posted?

I'm assuming its in the US?

It is. I know who posted this (follow them on social media), and from what I understand they'll be selling these via another seller/dealer on social media (consignment i think?).

I think posting it was to drum up excitement/anticipation for the sale really. That's the way to go on social media really....

And still waiting on the Walkthrough that was shipped on 3/3...

I received my first shipment back and a few of the comics were graded a 9.6. I was wondering if there is somewhere I can view the reasoning behind the lower grade than expected, like comments or something from whomever reviewed the comic and gave it a lower grade. I wasn't expecting 10's on all 6 I submitted as I know each had minor defects on the outer cover bottom corners, however I didn't think the 3 9.6's would have been graded as such. Again, seeing if there is somewhere I can review why it received such grade? Thanks!

Grader's Notes are sometimes provided for your submission. If they are available, you should see them when you click the submission in question in your My Submissions > Submission Tracking portion of your account (see blue circle below):

If they are not provided, then there is nothing for you to reference. If you are certain they deserve more than a 9.6, crack them out and resend them. Though it sounds like you are acknowledging there was a minor defect present on these, so a 9.6 would not be surprising.

Fedex can be the wildest of wild cards in this process.

On that note: did anyone else have something shipped out, but get stuck in Ocala, FL? Or not have any updates on transit up until deliver? (like maybe package wasn't scanned throughout the trip prior to delivery)

Trying to tell myself I'm just being paranoid since this is my first Walkthrough submission, but JEEZE does this suck :makepoint:

I have a Walkthrough Submission that is almost exactly the same as your timeline however it has been GEI since 3/2/23 with no update...

Just goes to show there is no rhyme or reason to any of this, despite our best efforts to track things here. Fingers crossed for you

If it makes you feel any better, although it was shipped on 3/3/23 and I was informed it would be delivered early today (3/7/23), it shows no movement after arriving in Ocala, FL.

    Thanks, Fedex.
