  1. Absolutely this can happen, does happen, and will happen again. Allowing I'll take it pending scan gives the buyer his way out, for whatever reason he wants. It's exactly like buying a house on condition of a home inspection. As that guy can get out of buying the house (for whatever reason he chooses), so can the comic buyer get out of buying this comic (for whatever reason he chooses). Every seller should also consider their two options, if they allow pending scans. 1. placing the book on hold until the buyer decides (this is what I do) 2. having the book still available for anyone who wants to buy it outright without any conditions In scenario #1, if the buyer passes, that could influence others watching that they also don't really need it that badly either. In scenario #2, if someone jumps in and grabs it after someone said they'll take it pending scans, the guy who bought it outright may be considered an A-Hole for screwing over the first guy, even though he's well within his rights (or the rules) to do so. I've seen a book that I really wanted, and passed because someone already took it "pending scans". I didn't want to be the jerk. So, best case scenario, as mentioned before: scan your books when having a sales thread.
  2. I had one person here do that. Took it pending scan and then tried to negotiate the price, not because of anything in the scan, but because the price didn't leave them enough profit margin. And thus, ended all possible buyers from buying it outright. The was used as a placeholder. This is my fear. Dan Couldn't the seller end the end by simply posting in the thread: "book is stil available"? end the end?
  3. I think you mean GIC 87. As I recall, it was excluded on purpose for consideration, since one of the prior cover contests (that wasn't exclusive to just Heath covers) had already placed it at (or near) the top. But maybe I am not recalling this correctly .... Andy? Actually, because I had run a few war cover contests previously, and GIC 80, 87, and AAMOW 94 had been retired, due to their constant 1-2-3 placements. However, in this particular contest, we were looking for Russ Heath's best covers. It wouldn't be fair to exclude those, so they were all candidates right from the start. In the end, GIC didn't make the top 10. Now, I would say that it is probably my personal favorite, followed by AAMOW 94, but this contest doesn't just takes votes on people's favorite choices. This contest asks for viewers at home to vote for their least favorite, and the books with the most votes against them, get voted off. It's similar to the TV show "Survivor". This method may not get you the same results as polling everyone for their favorite cover, but I like the process and it is still fun. Do I feel GIC should be in the top 10? Absolutely! But, by chance, it didn't happen this time.
  4. Yep. Preaches the greatest deals ever, then sells all he needs to via PM without even listing them. Lots of unhappy faces.

  10. You don't have to rebuild the collection the same as it once was. Typically, people's collecting interests change and given a second chance, they would end up buying something a bit different, or perhaps focusing more. Think of this time around on a positive note. You can choose exactly what you'd like to collect this time around. That will save you some money by not spending cash on secondary interests. Focus on what you really enjoy and head that way. Andy
  11. that could be it. I guess you've had a lot? Are you serious? I guess you've never seen Jeff. He gets a lot! a LOT!

  15. Well, 4 days ago I notified him of the damage and sent photos. He replied we will take care of it. 2 days ago, I did a follow up asking what the procedure is. I mentioned that I was not interested in a refund, but needed to have nice replacement copies. Still waiting for a reply. Did you return the damaged copies back to him? No, as I have not been asked to. I did ask what the procedure was. On a positive note, I received my shipping credit for having 2 separate orders. He also sent a note saying that they will still look after me. I still believe that these are good folks and they truly will do their best to make everything right.
