  1. I'm sorry Sharon. I did not. I figured since the same rules have been in place since 2006 at this link... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1460472#Post1460472 ...that everyone should know them. It's not a big deal and it has been addressed openly, so you really need not worry about it. It's all cool. (thumbs u
  2. Whoa! That's about as bad as it gets. +1 not cool. 1000% inappropriate, particularly because ThirdH PAID HIS FULL ASK!! It's not like he haggled him down to that price and now he's irritated his arm got twisted, that's what he asked for?!??!?!? (Did he even sell it for the $3,000 sought?) I see the OP realized the error of his ways. What goes around comes around. Maybe he'll be making a huge profit on something he bought here 6 months earlier one of these days? It happens to all of us who regularly sell here. Do you think I was thrilled when I sold 10 copies of Saga 1 for $30 a pop and the guy who bought them was selling them (successfully) for $80+ a pop 2-3 weeks later? I was only irritated with myself for not timing it right, not the seller. I don't think he even haggled with me either. People should be more upset that it's a Mixed Age thread with Moderns listed for sale that hasn't been appropriately moved by moderation to the Mixed section. Ah, I'm very sorry about that, Rupp, I honestly didn't consider them when I posted my list. I've now edited them out of the sale. My apologies. It was a tragedy. I just checked and can see that the "Notify" button was hit on my post with the list of books for sale. It's hard for me to figure out who would be upset enough to notify the moderators to move the thread. I only wish that they had PM'd me first, I would have been happy to make those adjustments.

  4. I'm going to have a sale today. Actually, fairly soon, I imagine. They will all be CGC graded books. Once it's up, I'll post a link to it in this thread. Thanks folks! Andy
  5. Spirit of the boards is also up to interpretation as many people find comfort in following rules exactly, even their own. And for what it's worth, I would have given the book to Mike if it was me but I understand why Mike also didn't get it. So that is why I think we need a standard, community set of rules...so that if all else fails, those rules act like a catch-all. Because ultimately, the point of this conversation is not to draw lines and choose sides but to eliminate the problem. I think the better question is, would you have stepped aside if you were in the other "buyer's" shoes? Depends. What's a 9.0 DD#1 selling for these days?
  6. Thanks to all of you guys! Sure wish I could have been there. Hopefully next year.
  7. So, how was the forum banquet? Did Russ go? Was there an auction? Any items remain that you could auction here? How was the attendance for the banquet?
  8. BINGO! And you regret wording your response to him the way you did because now you won't get your book. I would suggest a PM to the guy, apologizing for your tone and asking nicely to have him complete this transaction for you. I would also expect the seller to apologize to you for overreacting and offer to move your order to first priority. These things often get heated for really stoopid reasons and should easily be able to be worked out.
  9. A: Where the hell is my book? B: It hasn't been released yet. We will automatically mail it to you once it's in our possession.
  10. Oh wow!! Congratulations on having such a great book! :headband: I'm glad that you didn't see it raw to that dealer. This will be a good example of having a book CGC-graded. (thumbs u Andy
  11. My favourite run in all the DC Big 5.
  12. There is, John. It was a good read. You'll be happy to hear that OAAW 168 gets a little recognition.
  13. Did Russ Heath make the dinner? Any pictures or report?
  14. Don't think that is your ebay id... It might be http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=FeedbackLeftForOthers&userid=aznhotsauce&iid=-1&de=off&items=200 I don't know Jimmy. The id doesn't have any comic purchase/sales. It's shoes etc. Kind of weird for a comics buyer/seller. His winning bid on the item had different feedback # than the user he gave us not the same person or has multiple profiles. PhoKing is lying to the community? Just made baby Greenham cry....
  15. Hey Mick, have a slice of pizza for me, please. Easy on the red wine vinegar.
  16. Hey Mick, has the eagle landed yet? Alan
  17. I'm just a guy, with a very good reputation on the boards and in the hobby in general. The non condescending type who can actually grade a book. Don't worry about me though, I'm not the issue here. A half dozen people have already said the book ain't even close to a 9.8 and this has been a very enlightening excerise. Jim Your raw 9.8s are 9.8s. Now, the hamster bedding that comes in the package is another story. Oh I know Sean  I'm still 100% on 9.8's for WD books too...never had one come back a 9.6 yet In Chicago last year I did screw up on a regular copper on site submission of 100 books. Only 96 came back 9.8's, the other two were 9.6's and the other two were 9.9's. Jim What a looser!
  18. The number 4 is considered bad luck by the Chinese. The number "four" in Chinese sounds like the word "death". They don't sound the same at all. One is 3rd tone and the other is 4th. But yeah, you're right. They don't like it.
