  1. Their response, as I remember (it may be in the CG thread), was that these indentations have always been there. But, as noted, they seem to have been much worse last year leading to speculation that they had received a bad batch of inner wells. With luck, they have now used up that batch and we are back to the previous situation of intermittent, small indentations. It is disappointing that they never gave a full explanation. You can speculate that to have admitted that they were indeed dealing with a bad batch of inner wells would have left them liable to a very costly situation with many people returning books to be reslabbed. Yeah, likely this is the case and they just created this "puddling" term and said it's been around forever. Uh huh.
  2. Thanks for gathering the info Nick. I want to preface the upcoming tirade by saying his isn't directed at you in any way. He's mistaken on a couple of points. One as Schmidt said, he wasn't holding anyone to proper grades. If he was, when he sold the books he'd sell them at lower grades than when bought, not higher. Two, the bold section above, it's not because of this situation that he's banned. This forum is for adults, 18 and over, and children do not have the legal capacity to enter in to contracts and transactions. The only way he was able to gain access to this forum was by lying, when he signed up, and stating he was 18. This "horrible situation" would have never happened had he been honest enough in those first minutes of signing up and realizing this is not a place for a 12 year old. The father may be on the up and up in this, but the child created some of the most intricately detailed lies to conceal himself and (in some cases) for no reason at all. The first moment of sign up was a lie. Who he held himself out to be was a lie. His hay bailing business? A lie. His children? A lie. 40 years old? Lie Frankly, the "solid transactions" we're supposed to dwell upon were all based on a lie. From their most basic origins people believed they were dealing with someone else entirely. How can a transaction be "solid" when it's built on a foundation of pure balderdash? His argument for leniency and what he wants people to remember when thinking of their interactions sounds a lot like...."Cool Books"....as if all that deception, and the deceptions heaped upon deceptions don't matter because "I got my cool books". Much of what I'm hearing sounds like "not my kid", which is unfortunate given the length and breadth of the prevarications perpetrated across the entirety of these boards. I think you make some solid points here. No offense on you, Nick, but I call BS on the father. Anyone can sound sincere on the phone. His father wasn't saying this on his Facebook posts, when he was commenting on how great his son was by having everyone on the site thinking he was an adult. Also he stated he monitored the email activity, so he knew what BS his son was flinging. This whole thing is making me so angry I can feel my testes starting to tort. I'm going to go bale some hay before I pass the point of no return.
  3. If anyone does. make sure security is at their farthest point from you when you start. Huh? What are you going to do or what are you thinking? I imagine accosting convention-goers is frowned upon, so if you want maximum time to yell at the guy, make sure security is well off in the distance. What did you think I meant?? -slym Well, not yelling. What would you yell at him?

  5. I've only read the first page and last page of this thread, so I may have missed something. Does anyone think that this is just the latest batch (a bad batch) of inner wells that they've received and we'll continue to see this problem until they've used up every last one? Then, after they get their next allotment, the issue will likely be over?
  6. I've seen a dual accounter mispost under the wrong ID before, but that was quite awhile ago, and I did not record the userID for posterity. He locked a thread and posted what was wrong with it in the final post. TFL
  7. I was going to buy these but after reading this thread I've decided not to move forward with the deal and save myself a potential headache down the road. FWIW GIJoe was understanding and didn't give me any grief over dropping out. You agree to a deal, you should fulfill your end of the commitment. Andy, I agreed to buy books before any of these troubling instances came to light. If you think I am wrong then you or anybody else including GIJoe are free to add me to the probation list if you think I am some how less then honourable and good intentioned when it comes completing board purchases. Lawrence Hey Lawrence, I've dealt with you on a few occasions and you have been nothing less than perfect. I don't believe that going forward, your dealings with people here will be any different. That being said, the issues that have cropped up from GIJOEISAWESOME's behaviour all stem from him buying from other people. Nothing appears to be an issue with his selling, heh, other than potentially over-grading. He isn't on the Probation List (yet) and I really don't know if he could be, as he hasn't backed out of any deals. I'm probably thinking along the same lines as you and everyone else here, ie. he doesn't need to be on any list, I know that I will avoid doing any kind of business with him in the future. However, I was just mentioning that to you because he would now have cause to nominate you for not following through on an agreement. It seems like a lot less of a potential headache to pay and get this deal over with, then avoid him afterwards. The best case scenario would be for him to allow you to back out without any of that PL talk. Just talking out loud. (thumbs u Andy There are two things that I would change about what you said: 1) This seller already let him out of the deal voluntarily. So he can't put him on any list. 2) If it can be proved in one instance (or a half dozen it seems) that he claimed (for illustration purposes) that a book he bought as 6.0 was a 5.0 in order to get a partial refund from the buyer and then resold it here as a 7.0, I think we've got some serious list material. That's fraud. He defrauded the person he bought it from by inducing a refund from them by lying about the grade and it is proven to be a lie when the books are resold at a higher grade immediately thereafter. If any of that can be shown an corroborated you've got MORE than enough to list him. WAY more. I'm glad he let him out of the deal. (thumbs u Yeah, I didn't consider the number of cases where he's done the same thing. Definitely a pattern.

  10. To me if a book being sent is as expensive as a Hulk 181 I would of definitely added Signature Confirmation. But that's just me. Sorry Jimmy The book was $250. I mention the hulk181 only because why would you trade a hulk 181 for a DC Presents 47 CGC 9.8? Jimmy $250 is enough to add Signature. PayPal encourages it. I don't know what DC presents 47 is. Sorry. Not much of a DC fan When did paypal demand signature protection for purchases of $250 USD or above or $330 Canadian? They gave him a refund within 20 minutes of me providing the tracking information. This is wildly_fanciful_statement. Money has been taken out of my account. Tracking: CX508239617CA It's not over yet, Jimmy. Call up PayPal and complain your case. You'll very likely get someone who will tell you that because you didn't get a signature, they cannot side with you. Then you will ask to speak to a manager. Insist on it if they give you any grief. Then you tell them your whole story and that you're very surprised that the guy can get the item and get his money back. Complain, say it makes no sense, say you think they made their decision in haste and that this needs to be investigated further. If this person still isn't helping, you will ask for her manager. Insist on it, because you have just been the victim of fraud and that they are supporting it by giving this guy his money back. Remind them about how long you have been a faithful supporter of PayPal. Anyway, keep at it. If they tell you that they'll look into it further, they very likely will. You should be able to get a portion of your money back, or (hopefully) the full amount. Good luck.
  11. Should be fine as long as there's no nudity. (thumbs u Welcome to the boards!
  12. Yup. You got me all figured out. I'm glad you agree. Whether you think you are being sarcastic, or you really are being sarcastic, or you a revese sarcascising your self and all of us using sarcastic, or you are legit, it's true. Uh bleh blachh feh mef tunneh peh puh
  13. Are you saying "comics are a commodity, thank God"? You are officially on notice that "Comics are a commodity, thank God"TM is the sole intellectual property of SpiderMan-On-Tilt, Inc. You are hereby ordered to cease and desist from any further unauthorized use. Thank you. Too bad, too, cause I like it. I like it a lot!
  14. Doesn't look good. Dale, If you don't mind me asking, how long ago was the transaction? He got caught shilling (great job Joe) and then reset his bids and someone won a cgc'd book for .99+shipping and he refused to send so he got negged. Got raked over in General for it and has been gone ever since. I REALLY don't want to see you get burned, you're always so nice to me at NYCC I think I sent the invoice about January 8th. He has been pretty straight forward all along, that he needed to sell some stuff before he sent payment, and that's fine. He asked me to give him a couple of weeks and that's fine too. Just hope he comes through. I intend to give him every shot to make it right. So, (@ Dale) has HusTruck paid this invoice yet? If not, when are the 30 days up for purposes of PL nomination? I'm going to go ahead and say, that I've had a very high $$$ transaction with HusTruck (in the $1k range) and it went smooth as butter. I think some of the reason he is coming across as a flake, is because he is a noob trying to act like a pro. I don't think he is truly dishonest. I don't. Made a few mistakes, misjudged his money, YES>Dishonest? No Was your transaction a trade or a $1,000 sale? If you know me, you know I rarely buy and sell. Or trade equal value. Sometimes trades are even, sometimes not. It's called making money. The comic industry supplies about 50% of my families money. It puts the food on the table for my sons. It's awesome. Are you saying "comics are a commodity, thank God"?
