  1. Nice books Trooper! Too bad you couldn't get the scans a decent size.
  2. I spaced out and forgot to bid on last Sunday's auctions. A couple of books went pretty cheaply. Ah well, probably for the best. I've spent wayyyyyyyyy too much lately. Andy
  3. I just politely asked him some questions as well. I encourage everyone to do so. I just did as well. Hmmm!!! I guess he'll be spending a LOT of time answers questions!!! Hmmm...well, I thought I was being polite...hmmmm....apparently not.
  4. Speaking of G.I. Combat #87... There's one on eBay right now, if anyone wants it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230201018513&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=013 I looked at the pictures posted and asked him if he if he could send me larger pictures or scans. I mentioned that it looked as though the cover had a large piece missing and that is something that his potential buyers should be aware of. I asked if he could please describe the book to me, looking for any faults. example: is the cover loose from the staples, any writing anywhere in/on the book, and tears or creases, etc. Then I thanked him very much and was looking forward to his reply. Here's his reply.... Hi, Hmm, you should be able to zoom into the pictures to get a better look. I thought I'd leave the judgement of condition up to you based on what you see in the pictures. The minimum bid is $1.00 and you want me to count the number of possible tears? Hmm.. 1/2 hour of my time for $1.00? Hmm, I don't think so, especially since I'm doing this as a favor for a friend who was too lazy to list it himself. IF YOU WANT THE ITEM BID ON IT, IF YOU DON'T WANT IT, DON'T BID! - allaucts eBay is a scary place filled with scary people. Caveat emptor Andy
  5. No can do, Shep. That'll lower the value of my 2.5 copy.
  6. Great books Blind Owl! Nice to see you posting some war books!!! Andy
  7. Thanks bud, glad you like it! (thumbs u Andy
  8. It's really getting out of hand. Four years ago, I got a very nice GIC #97 in CGC 7.0 for... wait for it.... $50. Sigh.... Those are beautiful books just the same. Shep Wanna double your money, Shep?
  9. I have no succession plan in place as of now. I'm married with no children and now you've made me decide to get a will drawn up. Actually, long overdue... I'm guessing that everything would go to my wife. She knows that my books have value, and I've told her before not to take them to the local comic store. She always threatens to do that if she's mad. She's only kidding though.....I hope. I'll probably have to grade everything and have them properly labeled.....sheesh, I guess I should do that anyway, no? I'll have to bag and board them too. After all of that work, I'll leave instructions on perhaps getting in touch with Heritage. Dunno. EBay is fine, but a lot of work for the young lady. Grim, but we all go at some point. Andy
  10. That's an interesting question I never thought of before and I have no kids and a small family. Since I'm so old I'd probably give instructions to my better half for him to send the books to one of the young war collectors on the boards if they wouldn't mind my mostly VF/NM or lower collection of war books. Either that or donate them to the Canadian Armed Forces and that way each Soldier could have one book.
  11. Don't you dare put that thing in the casket with you! At least let your boy bring it in and sell it to me....
  12. I, as many others do, love high grade books. But it's hard to not like a run of books in Fine 6.0 condition. Oooh boy! If I could ever get my early DC war books all up to the Fine grade, that would be just Getting an uber-high-grade book gives me two feelings. One, a supreme feeling of achievement and satisfaction. Two, a strong feeing of nervousness. I love the feel of a great book, but I'm also scared that my handling it will lower the grade. I love to hold 8.0's and flip through them, but I start to get nervous with anything higher. Heheh....I guess that's what the reading copies are for. Andy
  13. Real cool story, that one. DC war from all periods are chalked full of great stories. Don't be afraid to pick any of them up, especially readers as they can be found relatively cheaply. (thumbs u Andy
  14. $250? Worth every penny. You could probably double your money on that. Nice score! (thumbs u Andy
  15. Excellent books, boys! I'm drooling right now, so have to go grab a napkin...'scuse me.....
  16. I did! But I have not received an email from Josh. It shows up in my orders.
  17. Nice book, Canickus! Looking forward to many more posts from you!!! (thumbs u Andy
