  1. I guess I shouldn't be surprised especially in this day of paying outrageous multiples of guide for slabbed 9.6 and 9.8 books. Personally, I think Andy (thirdgreeham) got some of the best deals. Did you pay 10X guide for your books? Are you crazy??? No way, buddy! I bought a lot of nice 5.5 to 7.5's for $50 to $150 bucks a piece. Very happy, yes I am! Andy

  3. First off, great books, Scrooge! That War one is a cover that I'd love to have. The Fight comics are nice too. Secondly, ant, those Wrightson Toe Tag covers are amazing! Next, I don't blame you, kingofwhales, cool cover! After that, very nice 9.8 Xmen's, kc120us! Decent FF, alwaysbronze!
  4. Oooh, I really wanted that GIC #80, and didn't think my $250 would hold up very long. I was going to up my bid to try to win it, but I pretty much put a bid in on every one of those comics, so I was scared that I'd win too much. $700 is pricey, but that book is damned scarce, and yes, the guide is too low. MUCH TOO LOW on the high grade, and maybe a little high on the low grade books. I came out of last night's auction with quite a few books and a good deal of perfectly fine mid grade to high grade books, and at fairly reasonable prices. That's where the value is for me. I had every single one of those books, but nearly every one was an upgrade. Also, if you follow these books, as I know you all do, the high grade books rarely appear for sale, so it's not too much of a surprise to see these realised prices. I got this one for much less than I thought I'd have to pay: OAAW #43 CGC 8.0 $107 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17397 Here's an example of a good deal: OFF #10 CGC 4.0 $37.00 (it'd cost me $30 to CGC it!) http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17423 A nice high grade book at a good price: OFF #18 CGC 7.5 $95 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17425 Highest graded: OFF #75 CGC 9.2 $131 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17441 Granted, there are 3 of these in 9.4, but I'm happy to be the owner of one of them: OFF #123 First Losers CGC 9.4 $155 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17082&Lot_No=17447 That was a fun auction. I would've loved any of those high grade GIC's, but as Quality Comix was saying, the big 2 are selling for many multiples, and that's just a little out of my league. Geez, I spent enough, but I'll sure be happy for a long, long time. (thumbs u Andy
  5. Just picked up a copy of this book at a small local show. Is that guy drinking coffee with a dead guy in the snow nearby? War is grim, boy! Andy
  6. That War #23 is amazing, and I feel that Battle Action #8 is pretty wicked too! Navy Action #16 doesn't do much for me, but I do have a Beavis and Butthead #1 if you want to trade for it. Andy
  7. Can I get a woop woop for lookwhoitis ? A great job of packing and sending of a complete run of Preacher. Thanks bud, I'll enjoy re-reading this series. Andy
  8. Wow, what a great book! Thanks for posting!! (thumbs u Andy
  9. Great job, Troop! Nice books as well! Andy
  10. Nope, haven't seen this one. Great book! Thanks for posting!! Andy
  11. Well it's definitely not 9.2 so, since you've been outed, howazbout posting yours? Oooh, I never get tired of seeing that one! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!!!!!!!!!! Andy
  12. I just want to say I own one, and for $50 why not? The guy probably has High hopes for this book, or looking for a sucker. Bingo! We have a weiner!!!
  13. $50 to $100 is the max for this book. Unless someone knows something I don't.... Andy
  14. Be careful if buying this book: http://cgi.ebay.com/G-I-Combat-87-DC-1961_W0QQitemZ160145468329QQihZ006QQcategoryZ14213QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Yikes! Andy
  15. yes indeed! Awesome book, AS!!! Andy
  16. Maybe you should see a chiropracter? definitely! I just shook my head again and it hurt my back....
  17. My guess is #1, First Haunted Tank cover. Although it's an Ultra-person_without_enough_empathyin' Heath Greytone, I don't think that'll drive that book to those heights. I think that the rarity of the grade will definitely add to it, it wouldn't be the only reason to propel it to where it ended. Great, great books, Keith, but sad I'm sure to see them go. Athough I was only able to acquire a handful, I am very thankful to have that chance. Thank you, and cheers to a good sale! (thumbs u Andy
  18. Thanks Shep, I picked up some others throughout these different sales, but mostly mid grade stuff. I found that the 5.0's 6.0's were selling in my price range. I would love to have a chance again at some of those books, but we both know that they'll be in a dark place for a long time. Probably, anyway. Congrats to qualitycomix for the cajones to pick up as many as he did. (thumbs u Nice! And lastly, Haunted Tank, who knew? I did. Well, I guess I didn't... Andy
  19. Here's 3 that I picked up. http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=825&Lot_No=44025 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=825&Lot_No=44026 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=825&Lot_No=44027 There were about 60 other lots that I was bidding on, just didn't have the smarts to bid high enough. Sometimes I wish I didn't have my Overstreet beside me, and then I'd be more able to buy these books. I look at the prices that these books are selling for, look at the guide, then shake my head. Then I look at the books and look at the prices, and wonder why I didn't bid more, then I shake my head again. I have a thought though. I know that these books are going for 3-6 times guide, which sometimes I think is crazy and sometimes I don't. How are these prices realized in comparison to GPA prices? Are they multiples of GPA, or just slightly higher? Andy
  20. I was your small-time competition for those books, but in no way your serious competition. I would've loved many of those books for sale, but unfortunately you can't buy everything. Andy
  21. I actually won 3 books from that auction, I'll post the links when I finally get off of this insane dial up! Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Andy
  22. I saw that book and nearly fell out of my chair. Keith's getting some fantastic prices on a lot of those books. I have a question though. I through a lot of bids on a lot of books, expecting the auction to be over. Now it's still on through internet bidding? WTF is that? Now I feel that my slim chance of winning any of these books just got a hell of a lot slimmer. Am I correct here, or is there something I'm missing? Andy
