Then maybe "everyone" shouldn't post stupid things that suggest they have no idea what they're talking about (and no, not everybody knows). :eyeroll:

I just saw your posts in the Hulk 181 thread, which show that you actually do know what a warehouse book is, but I never would have guessed that from your posts in this thread. Your posts in this thread paint you as one of the clueless newbs who recently became involved with comics because they're hot.

Posting like you're an insufficiently_thoughtful_person will likely make people assume you're an insufficiently_thoughtful_person, whether it's true or not. If you're intelligent and knowledgeable, show it. Some people will dislike you for it, but it's worth it.

What does "known supply" mean? We have rough estimates of how many copies of many issues were both printed and distributed. We know that while copies distributed is generally supposed to be the cap for extant copies, it actually isn't. But nobody can actually know the number of extant copies of the vast majority of issues.

The often-false perceptions that some people have do affect how they value things, but available, visible supply does matter if you want to buy something right now.

What a tedious, miserable comment. Looks like you need a good warehouse find.

The story goes that around here, Northern Virginia to be exact, a prominent dealer walked into a show with an unopened bundle of Hulk 1 .... normally this would go in the "grain of salt" file... but the story came from someone who has never lied to me, and the dealer in question certainly had the means to unearth something like that. GOD BLESS....

I would like nothing more than for the market to be flooded with a ton of Hulk #1.

I'm in my late 20's too.

As I get older and wiser I will put the $ before everything else.

It actually makes sense to have the $ sign after the number, because that's how you say it -- 100 dollars. In fact every other measurement symbol comes after the number (such as 20° and 50km) so I'm all for it! AND I'm old!

I don't believe Marvel had anything to do with those replicas.  The recent official Marvel facsimile releases are easily distinguishable from the originals.

Kav meant he wishes that Marvel would take action to stop the guy who's counterfeiting their comics. I wish Marvel was publishing exact reprints, that were clearly marked as such in the indicia.

That looks like a bulletproof sales strategy!

What this tells us is that the price needs to come down to the point where they DO sell. Will that happen? I think Tom101 was saying this book was not a good buy, as there are boxes of them around.

Classic "if you don't like something then why are you here in a thread celebrating that something to comment your extreme dislike as if anyone cares" syndrome  :D

This thread isn't 'We all love Gil Kane's covers' so it's perfectly valid to express my opinion as to why I do not.

Corner damage like that will get 9+ range. It's a tiny corner bend that doesn't break any colour, and it only looks big because of magnification. If that's the only defect, then 9.2 makes sense. Logically, this didnt happen during encapsulation, but before. As written elsewhere, there is no record for CGC ever admitting to be wrong on a grade, and unless the book currently shifts a lot while shaking the slab around, then it would be more logical to think this happened before.

Anyways, we've all seen worse on 9.2s before.

That Spidey isn't as bad as the Spawn by any means. It's not bulging or misshapen, more like slight wear with minor colour loss.

ALL of those seller's books are color printouts of existing scans. There are even some of this books that are printouts of microfiche scans (like his Red Raven #1).

His Strange Tales 89 is a print of my scan of that comic I did back in 2007.

I knew he must be using scans, which are generally acessible online for pretty much everything. The Silver Age scans I've seen are not hi-res however, and I'm sure a side-by-side comparison would reveal his replicas to be noticeably inferior.

Microfiche looks like garbage, crazy he would use that as a source.

what are the differences between those reprints and orig-surely there must be something.  Wish Marvel would stop with this.

It looks like some of them are poorly trimmed, with white space at the top or bottom. And I guess the fact that they look (and are) brand new should be a red flag. But I suspect these are going to fool a LOT of non-experts in the near future.

Just so that I'm clear - I'm not trying to defend this guy in any way, shape or form.  Without the caveat printed on them, this whole scenario lends itself to someone getting burned at some point in time with these...

No problem, I agree with what you're saying.
