Just snagged a copy of Sgt. Rock #329 - THE WHITMAN VARIANT.
It's the last book I need to complete my Bronze Age war set.
I'll post it when it comes in. Been looking for nearly three years. I don't care if a coupon is missing... it'll just be nice to have that book!
Shep
Just an amazing accomplishment Shep!
Out of curiosity, just how many books is that, or have you ever bothered to count?
-
At one point I had 6 or 7 copies (got them cheap at the War Summit Dinner back in 2002 or 2003) but over time I've sold them all off. I think I even gave a couple of copies away!
Shep
Indeed you did. You gave me one for which I am eternally grateful! (thumbs u

I've never read any of the reprints. My first exposure to these books was seeing the covers here and there and my first experience reading them was when I actually bought them. I've always had a thing about reading the original article when I can.
As much as I love the Big 5 and Sgt Fury and the like, these EC books are just amazing from cover to cover. My only regret is that i didn't get into them sooner.

Same here Shep! There are SO many amazing FLC and TFT covers it's hard to choose, but this one always blows me away.
-
Pre-Silver, but I don't think anyone will mind.

Thanks! I don't think I'll read it to pieces though
The first story, with the Severin art is just fanatsic. I've been completely blown away by how good the stories and artwork are in all the EC war books.

Found a couple of books today, thanks to Dale Roberts .
This was one the first Rock books that i remember reading...read it to pieces actually.
And although this isn't SA, I'm sure you guys will appreciate it. This was a long sought after book for me.

Great cover, Larry, who's the artist?
Gil Kane, of all people, with Severin inks.

I'll throw out one of my favorite BA Fury covers. Hopefully, I'll have something new to add tomorrow. There's a show here, and you never know what'll turn up!

Holy Andy, those shirts are fantastic!

Many thanks to October for this nice lil upgrade of a favorite book!

I think I can find a couple more...

War Books you say? I think I may have some of those...let's see:

Man, I've never been into pedigrees but boy are those sweet. Can't believe the colors on these books,
I love the cover of that OAAW #40.
Thanks for letting us browse your collection Mick!

Indeed, and many thanks again to Andy! heck it was fun just to SEE the artwork, much less have an opportunity to own some.

Thanks man! Very generous!
How about 159 p. 12 and 182 p. 2?I appreciate it very much--Glanzman HT is one of my absolute faves.
GIC 184 page 2 still available?Or am I late again?
GIC 184 page 2 goes to you, Karma. You are welcome to choose another, if you like. (thumbs u
I hate to be a glutton but 171, page 4 would be wonderful as well.
This goes beyond generosity Andy. I never thought I;d be able to own a piece of Mr. Glanzman's art. he is a childhood favorite and always will be.
I can't thank you enough.

Very sorry to hear that Fay.

Nice books Fay, looks like you've been pretty busy collecting lately!

I was finally able to add this classic cover to the collection, thanks to October.

Damn, the colors are sharp on that one! Great looking book!

Oh, I'd say Enemy Ace. An interesting look from the enemy's point of view. Something never tried before, at least as far as a main character was concerned.
I've always wondered if the original intention was to show a WW II German pilot, but perhaps the wounds of the war were still a little too fresh? It was almost another decade before Blitzkrieg came along and even that didn't last very long.
The Unknown Soldier is a great character with a lot of great, under appreciated stories, but he is essentially a secret agent, a 007 of his era. As intriguing a character as he is, I think the other side of the coin aspect of Enemy Ace make him the significant character.

I remember going to The Great Escape in Nashville for the first time in '77. I'm not sure how long it was open prior to that.
Pretty much the happiest place on Earth for me for many years.
