Exactly, it blew my mind when I realized Marvel printed all copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 in the United States at the same time, shipped a relative few to the U.K. with a "9d" on the cover instead of "12 ¢", and THEN finding out collectors/dealers shunned/discounted the 9d copies for decades.  That's like if you discovered filet mignon was cheaper than hamburger at restaurants in London. lol

I can just see myself If I was that old back then... "Uh Oh, this has this 9d on the front cover...don't want this junk in my collection"....  My early retirement out the window...LOL!

What you have there is the pack reprint of Batman 415.   We believe the stickers were placed over the bar codes so that the clerk at stores like  "Toys R Us" or "Kaybee Toys" would not scan the bar code when they sold the pack.  Attached is a photo of the Batman 414/415/416 pack.  Each comic book in that pack had the sticker (even though the comic book in the middle of the pack did not need a sticker... lol).

When you try to track down all the variants of Batman 414 thru 416, you will go a little batty.  For example, Batman 415 was produced in a direct sales edition, newsstand edition, and 5 other subsequent variations including the variant shown above.

Why did they make these pack reprints?   My theory is that the demand was there.  In the late 1980s and early 1990s there was huge demand for comic books. A lot of people thought they could buy comic books and then sell them later for a huge profit.  Of course, most comics from that era are worthless.

As for the pack reprint of Batman 415, I'm guessing it might sell for $10 in high grade.  Mile High Comics has them on sale for approx $24 in FN if you include the 50% off the price that is almost always offered through their newsletters.  Even at their sales prices of $24 for a FN copy, I beleive Mile High is at least asking double (if not quadruple) the price that it should sell for.

And you also have shown one of the many Batman Whitman reprints as the last photo in your post.  Most are fairly common, but if you find the Batman 324 Whitman in high grade, contact me first to make an offer.  I would gladly pay $400 for a copy in high grade!

Until now, I had no clue what this was about.  Thank You for the info on these comics.  Fantastic!

WARNING: to any of you using Pirateship or Shippo for sending books insured to CGC for grading.  I was about to purchase a label for my latest shipment when I decided to read the fine print on the Exclusions.  This is the excerpt from the Pirate Ship and Shippo insurance exclusions pages.  Both use ShipShurance as their insurer.

"Additionally, collectible coins, comic books, sports cards and similar that are being shipped to be graded and have their value established are excluded. Collectible coins, comic books, sports cards, and similar are not excluded if they have already been graded and have their value established or if they were sold under a paid, Recent Invoice or have a Recent Appraisal. "

So you can't ship them to CGC if they are raw to be graded but if they are already graded it's ok.  Does anyone know of a non-subscription discount shipping service that provides coverage for USPS/UPS/FedEx shipping that will insure comics being sent to CGC?  I'm currently looking into EasyShip's free option as it doesn't appear to use shipshurance or have these exclusions.

Good info on shipping using Pirateship or Shippo.  Thanks for the clarity on this.

This was the first time that I bought a movie from the "cloud". I don't actually own a physical unit, but if I'm streaming I can pull t up, presumably, wherever. I trusted it to be good and have yet to be disappointed in a Cameron movie. My only regret was not catching it in IMAX 3-D. GOD BLESS ...

If I buy the Avatar blu-ray (or DVD) from Amazon, I can stream it from Amazon as well so that will help.  I did get to see it in IMAX-3D and loved it.

  5. Unless profits start being affected negatively, CGC has no incentive to change ANYTHING in favor of the submitter or be fair about.  It's all about the bottom line.  Don't like what they are doing, you can go elsewhere, or try to create your own
grading company to compete against them.  Do I like all these changes..  H*** No! but I will simply have to deal with it as best I can...(less submissions, more picky on what books get sent in..etc..)
Things will only change if it starts to affect the bottom line...Plain and simple!  Foolkiller summed it up best.

Ikr it's the same with the dkr, punisher limited, and others that are just great stories, but slow in acquisition haha Congrats on making the goal once, cause there are many but it was yours. 9.6 made some :flipbait: for a while. I'd be satisfied with VF NM myself.

Now that I think about it I had the complete set of Wolvie limited but they were all fvf with raw sigs.

#1 by Claremont first ever comic con I went to, and #2-4 raw sig by Len Wein that I picked up at LCS before that when back into collecting. It was about the memories made with those issues! :x

So cool you had the Wolvie Ltd set signed.  I only have a few signed books.

Lol I'm in the same boat on Wolverine Limited lol

I just thought #2 from Reece site, and now hope to pick up #4 eventually. I went 9,4 on #2, but my #1&#3 are onky cgc vf lol

    No shame ^^

    At all!

Funny thing Wolverine Limited issues are everywhere.  I'm so slow to complete it.  I "had" all four in 9.6 white but sold them.  I do have the TPB though..lol
