  1. With all these 26’s and 28’s, 27 was starting to feel left out.
  2. That's a sweet balance on a beautiful book Jason! You didn't lose any letters on the left, and got the full code on the right, well done!
  3. 25 is similar to 24 in that you have to decide what you want, everything on the left side or the right. I decided I wanted the left perfect and was willing to settle for losing part of the code box on the right. The left side is perfectly centered on the spine and I just barely got the full issue number box. I can live with the edge of the code missing. Let’s see those 25’s!
  4. Beautiful books MGsimba77, 67 looks incredible for the grade
  5. I have to agree with what others have said, I'd leave them raw. I'm a bit biased on that topic though, as I have bought many graded books and cracked them all out. For me it's about recapturing childhood memories, and raw books were what I had as a child. I'd love to see some pics of the set, I'm sure others would as well. As far as selling advice goes, I never sell anything so I'm not the one to ask, but perhaps getting the sigs authenticated and selling 1-10 as a lot through a reputable seller/auction house might be a good approach (I only say that because I like the idea of getting all the matching sigs together in one swing, they would probably bring in more sold individually though, but what do I know).
  6. Here’s mine. Another book I was lucky enough to get years before the movie and crazy price increases.
  7. If not for the slightly rusty staples this would be a great copy. The centering and everything else is wonderful. Oh well, I love it anyway.
  8. Repost pic. That glare and bag ripple was more than my OCD could handle.
  9. Here's the pride of my collection. It’s a cracked out CGC 2.5 I’m really happy with it, well centered, no chipping. Sorry for the horrible phone pic. Glad to be part of the club.
  10. Are you speaking to/about me? If so you have absolutely no idea what I am saying as I never once mentioned the virus or anything else specifically for that matter. I'm a little pressed for time at the moment, but if it is my post you are taking issue with just say so, and I'm happy to come back later and expand on it. I'll give you hint for now, social influence the vehicles used to drive it
  11. Imagine going back in time and walking into his shop when the video was recorded. "Hi, what can I get you?" I'll take everything you have "What"? Every copy of everything you have in the store
  12. Very interesting thread, always nice to get both sides of the story. Could use a little less turbo posting from a certain individual, but otherwise a good thread.
  13. Lol, I was just going to put my initial bid in at $1.00 and set my max bid for Tree fiddy
  14. There are people on here with way more money then taste (IMO) and the only criteria they seem to have for buying books is the grade and page color. They will proudly post high grade mis-wrapped nightmares (think arvel omics roup) and books that have half shrunken covers from being pressed a thousand times, but hey, WP and 9.8. To each his own though, if that's what makes them happy, then more power to them. I don't have a single currently graded comic in my collection, but I have 100's that used to be graded, and I cracked them all out. That right there might irritate people as much as buying only the number/PQ irritates me. As you can see I'm well on my way to becoming a complete curmudgeon in my advancing age.
  15. I've thought about this many times and I don't have a clue what the first comic I bought was, or even what my initial introduction to comics was. From the time I was a baby my mother always read to me, and as soon as I could read on my own, she started taking me to the library every week to pick out new books, so I'm assuming somewhere along that journey comic books came into the mix. If I had to guess it would probably be a three pack from Kmart, as those are the earliest comic buying memories I can recall.
  16. There are some excellent, heartfelt, and thought provoking posts in this thread. I think of my own situation. I collected as a kid, sold everything at 16, and then in my early 40's was browsing Ebay, saw a Fantastic Four lot, and in a fit of nostalgia, bought them. That reignited my passion for comics. Now as an adult I had some decent disposable income and in about 2 years I had a complete set of FF from issue 1 to current (books I used to stare at on the walls of comic shops as a kid and dream of owning). The next two years was spent upgrading 95% of the books I had bought in the previous two years. Along the way I grabbed a few other titles and various books. Now it's been probably three years since I have bought anything (There was a time when I was getting five plus boxes in the mail a day), and the thought of selling crosses my mind from time to time. I recently returned to the boards so I could immerse myself in the comic world again and truly explore whether or not I really want to sell them. The plan is now to wait till the new FF movie comes out and decide what I want to do based on any movie bumps in prices. Like others have said, there is not another generation of kids like we were following behind us, and I believe one day prices will tank, and I don't want to be left holding the hot potato that is now cold. I may just sell the upgraded collection where the real money is and keep the under copies for myself as that will allow me to free up some significant money for whatever else I want, but still have a nice collection of midgrade books. I'm setting aside a few hours tomorrow to go through all my boxes and look, touch, smell, and read a few of them again and see what that does for me (Plus take some pics so I can post them here).
  17. I played the line of needing to protect each new container out to it's final conclusion. At some point I will need to bag and board the Earth itself to feel truly secure about how my comics are stored.
  18. Yeah but then I'm going to feel the need to put that long box into something so it's protected. I've got my eye on some old stock Hefty Cinch sacks that I think might just do the trick
  19. I saw the recent thread, what a shame. 3000 comics and the person said they had no choice but to put them in a storage locker. 3000 comics bagged, boarded and long boxed will fit in a small closet with room to spare, ask me how I know. Tell the wife to put her 50 pairs of shoes and 30 purses in a storage locker, the comics are staying right here at home.
  20. Well, in that case I will quote the great Ted Knight (Judge Smails) from Caddyshack. "You'll get nothing and like it"
