  1. You realize this is the Modern Newsstands thread, right?
  2. Modern Newsstands is this threads title, correct? You may want to move those to the copper age newsstand thread.
  3. I’ve sent a few books bought off eBay that I’ve been able to get reholdered for free if it was within 2 weeks of it being received back from being graded.
  4. In regards to whether Cables first is actually an ad. Generally ads don’t appear in the panels of the story itself. They appear separately on ad pages. I’d argue that it’s part of the story since it appears in story and it makes sense to show the next antagonist in one panel and the next protagonist in the following.
  5. Only if its within 2 weeks of being received back from CGC.
  6. This is exactly why I look closely at pics, request more and ask questions if necessary. Ever since I bought a 9.8 that had 5-6 prominent color breaking spine tics. I have a 9.2 that has no less than 16 color breaking spine tics & fingerprints.
  7. Yes, it’s unfortunate, poor Stryfe never caught on. You’ll see right below Stryfe is Cables first appearance which is in NM86. So CGC labeling NM88 as his second appearance isn’t correct.
  8. I agree that a cameo should be used to describe when a character makes an appearance in another characters book. However it’s now used to describe a brief appearance of a character as well.
  9. So this isn’t him in NM86? Or are you to proud to admit you’re wrong?
  10. I’m trying to complete a set of newsstands of Jason Aaron’s run on Ghost Rider and I don’t see them often.
  11. That’s not at all what almost anyone I speak to online is experiencing. I know most who have posted in threads I follow have complained that CGC has had their books are close to a year. That after 3 or 6 months the books drop out of CGC’s system and you can’t check them online. I won’t even get into how poor CGC’s grading and quality control are currently. It’s bad and I can show dozens of examples of severe over grading. It’s why I don’t submit to CGC and have only submitted one book to CBCS. I was looking for an accurate grade and a case with no debris or Newton Rings. It’s effecting the hobby in a bad way as well. Now people are thinking that a book with dozens of horrible color breaking spine tics, fingerprints and stains qualify for grades of 9.0 and above. People also refer to CGC’s labels as the end all on any info on a given book. I can tell you that Cable (excluding his baby appearance) first appears in NM86, NM87 & NM88. Somehow though NM88 is his second appearance according to them. Sorry, rant over. But look at this beautiful 9.2 and it’s wonderful spine tics.
  12. With regular turnaround times of about a year good luck with it still being worth anything at that point. I’d sell it if you have it.
  13. Dinesh from Bad Idea sold a CGC 9.8 UF4 for $25,000. He bought it off a forum member @comics heating up for under $10,000. So it’s sold for much much more.
