Those are BCW plastic cases- they have short boxes for both graded and ungraded comics as well as long boxes for ungraded comics. I really like them for eliminating the cardboard. I can get about 25 new CGC cases in a graded box, more of the older style. Amount of raw comics will depend on your backing board thickness. They stack well, are easy to move, and I like that you can slide a trading card size label in on the sides. There's a slight learning curve on putting them together but be patient and you'll have no issues. You can get them at various online retailers. I've bought them from Amazon.

Thanks! I'll have to check those out.

FedEx just royally screwed up a delivery yesterday. I'm pissed.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Seems there's no good options for avoiding these issues with shipping. I hope that buyers are understanding this. There's not much a seller can do once the shipper takes a package.

  3. Most of the folks on here have a lot more experience than I do, but in the bit of trading I've done, I'd say don't neglect building relationships - with local comic stores, other collectors, estate sale folks, etc. Almost all of the books I've gotten that were great deals, unique opportunities, or cool collections were because I knew someone. It was the comic store owner who I constantly chatted GA with who had a collection walk in the door, or a friendly neighbor I'd known for years who one day heard me talk about collecting. Or it was the estate sale manager who already had a friend who got first dibs on collections. With the comic shop, I wasn't looking to get keys, but I was always talking to the owner about his wall books and bringing in new finds I picked up. So when he got collections or was in talks with a seller, he would let me know first. This is just my humble opinion being very small-time and very new, but in my experience, those relationships built around the hobby have been really valuable - financially and otherwise.

I'm sure it has to do with what's in their database for a particular issue. I wouldn't think it'd be hard to update that, but I don't actually know if it is or not.

It would seem like it wouldn't be that hard, but also that it would be really important. This is good information to have, to make sure the label is as accurate as current knowledge would allow.

  5. Interesting question. The books that come to mind are over-the-top stuff like some of the Grimm Fairy Tales and a few other newer series.  I wouldn't go so far as to call them "great." Some of the stories were decent, but the covers always looked like a dang adult mag. There were many that I skipped over solely because the covers were too salacious to have laying around for my kids to find.

  6. Strange Tales 28 in 5.0+. I've been trying to put together the Senate Hearing set, and you can imagine the other key that's missing. My budget is not super high, so this one is just enough to make me skittish spending, especially nowadays. Unfortunately, that means waiting for the day when it will be totally out of reach.
