  1. Well I hit a small con and one of the vendors I'm friendly with had this. If anyone was wondering this is what a flat $20 gets you when we're talking about early ASM The interior is complete though so another reader down for the collection
  2. Convention find this weekend. Marvel Science Fiction May 1951. Love the "beauty" and the detail all around in "the eye of the beholder".
  3. They have another 5 mandarake stores all along the main JR rail tokyo loop (green line I think). The biggest and most impressive with the best variety is definitely the one in Nakano. You could spend a whole day there without even trying. Some of the things they have are incredible. They have others locations in Akihabara and Shibuya that are good. Akihabara is also full of arcades which is really fun. It all really depends on how much time you have
  4. Looks like a Mandarake store if I'm not mistaken? They're the best, the one in Nakano is super massive it's like its own city.
  5. It's like you could read my mind. I was just thinking with all these horror and war books that this thread needed a little western. How about a Maneely to go with your Severin?
  6. This is the appropriate place to fancast right? Richard Armitage gets my vote to play Victor Von Doom. I know he was Erskines assassin in CA:TFA but that's such a bit part its torally negligible. His work as Thorin in The Hobbit and the new Netflix show The Stranger show off his dramatic range, and he's the right combination of aesthetics to pull off Doom well.
  7. Bought this in October so I guess that make me an honorary member of this here secret society? Only has the bottom staple (manufacturing error) but it looks pretty decent for living a life like that...
  8. Jim Steranko is doing a signing next weekend at a local comic convention here in Michigan. I hear he's pretty chatty about anything and everything, so you could get in-person insight or maybe even a recorded interview. If you're up for the drive or staying the weekend it's about 8 hours from you if google maps is to be believed.
  9. So much Lizard love! Mine definitely isnt that high of a grade it's probably a 2.5 or a 3.0 but it was the price of a .5 so it has that going for it
  10. Finally cracked the single digits thanks to a fellow boardie! Definitely my favorite early issue, I love the dynamics and the colors really pop.
  11. Actually it's a Nintendo Vs. model from '84 affectionately known as a "Red Tent" plays up to 4 players and has monitors on both sides. I just bought it last weekend, that's why it's in my living room, and not with the rest of the games upstairs. It's a broader "Nintendo" collection, not only the arcades. Everything from the NES up until today, including the arcades, and imported stuff from their pre video game days in Japan.
  12. Pencil Points is fantastic, I have a handful of issues in my magazine rack. One of my other favorite designers, George Nelson, wrote a handful of articles for them in the 30's talking to some of the great architects of the era Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, they're a great read. The curtains in the background here are a screenprint by George Nelson. My wife managed to make it on to Antiques Roadshow with them. Oh and I suppose I collect arcades too since it happens to be in this picture
  13. Designer atomic era furniture. This set was produced in 1958 and is quite rare. I have almost all the pieces from the line in the ad, and even more that aren't featured. This piece just happens to be my favorite because it was my first, and I pulled it from a thrift store for a steal.
  14. This thread is about horror comics not comic horror
  15. A guy this weekend with a rock and roll/horror movie booth had a small box of comics and this happened to be inside for $3. Hopefully I didnt miss a #10 for the same price earlier in the day...
  16. I found this Astonishing yellow cover at a small show over the weekend.
  17. I know it's not high grade, but I couldnt turn down a Ditko Spiderman for $30 at a small sale this weekend. Both staples firm, no missing pieces, and it's one I don't have yet so I'm pretty happy.
  18. 1947's All-Negro Comics #1 featured a story of a character by the name of Lion Man. I would say say it hugs the border of Jungle and Super. The comic also has the distinction of being the first written and drawn by an all black team.
