  1. I added to my collection of obscure villains from The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition series with Kiber the Cruel by Bob Wiacek and Josef Rubinstein, a D-List Black Panther adversary who only lasted 3 issues before getting killed: As it appears in issue #18:
  2. Thanks. Well, it’s been a few days and nothing from ComicConnect so I just printed their invoice and included it with my check that I mailed to them. I’ll wait and see if there are any issues. They say 3-4 weeks for shipping so I hope to get the art by then.
  3. Thanks for the breakdown! I appreciate it. This being my first interaction with ComicConnect, I elected to pay via check (since they wanted to charge 3% extra for PayPal or credit card payments) and when I received the invoice, there was no charge for shipping or taxes…just the actual amount for my winning bid. Is this normal for ComicConnect auctions?
  4. Well, that’s on top of the 15% buyer’s premium soooo 35% total?
  5. I purchased my first auction win (besides Ebay) in this series and I felt I overpaid by 20% for the particular piece. But I justified it by saying I only purchase a piece maybe 2-3 times a year and my collecting field is so specific and narrow that I could afford this specific indulgence. So hopefully the art transfer will be smooth and without incident.
  6. I got in this 10 1/2” x 12 1/2” Baroness commission by Stefano Cardoselli:
  7. I got in this 8” x 10” Vega commission by Dan Brereton:
  8. I had to buy a new vehicle for sister last month so my finances will be severely limited for the next 5 years (but I hope to cut it down to 4). Thus, I will have to drastically cut back on my commission collecting for the foreseeable future (unless it is too good to pass by). Otherwise, I hope to add some more Official handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition villain pages to my collection. Keeping it simple…for now.
  9. …just re-read the contest rules and participation ended last night. Oh, well. I guess there’s always next year…
  10. Published: 1986 Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #8 Page 57 Mr. Hyde (Urinating) by John Romita Jr. and Joe Rubinstein
  11. I also never knew the man nor got to meet him but I greatly admire his willingness to still meet with and greet as many fans as he given his limited time. As an artist, he was undoubtedly great but as a person, he will be immeasurable. I only wish I had gotten in the art commission game sooner to be able to get my usual Vega/Baroness requests from him.
  12. I got in this 12” x 18” Baroness commission by Eddie Nunez today:
  13. I got in this 8” x 11 1/2” Vega and Baroness commission by Paul Davidson:
  14. I broke my original art dry spell recently with the purchase of The Interloper by Don Perlin and Josef Rubinstein at Comic Art Live last week: As it appears in The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition issue # 6: It is not a villain per my usual collecting habit but it is obscure. This is the first piece I’ve purchased with the intent to trade for another (OHOTMU villain) should it arise.
  15. My recent dry spell of commissions ended today with the arrival of this 11” x 14” Vega commission by Steve Rude:
  16. It's been a while since I got in a commission but I just got this 7 1/2" x 9" Vega by Tim Tyler:
  17. I got this 11” x 17” acrylic paint commission by Giancarlo Caracuzzo as a birthday gift for a friend of mine. It’s an homage to the motivational cat poster featuring a couple of her favorite characters, Grogu and Wonder Woman:
  18. I got in a few items in today. First I got in an 8” x 10” Baroness commission by Sorah Suhng: Then I received this 11” x 17” Baroness and Vega sketch by Karl Janot as a “thank you” for my patience: Patience for waiting for my latest 11” x 17” cover homage commission of Thor #359 featuring Vega and The Baroness: The original cover as it appears:
  19. I got in this 8” x 10” watercolor commission by Dan Brereton. It’s not quite The Baroness but a reasonable facsimile:
  20. I got in this 9” x 12” Vega commission today by Alexis Ziritt:
