  1. $25k-$35k range I believe...Leroy's copy is exceptional for the grade....but this is the Cap 1 thread
  2. It’s easier to get on the app and peruse but I’ll post a few of Gator’s pics he posted on IG
  3. True and a cap 1 in 1.0 sold privately three months ago for $50k. That 53k marvel 1 sale was an October copy too.
  4. thanks for the summary Rick. Happy the auction yielded decent results for you despite your circumstances.
  5. Did anyone win this tonight? https://www.hakes.com/Auction/ItemDetail/229962/ALL-WINNERS-COMICS-11-WINTER-1943-44-CGC-35-VG
  6. With increased price points my grades have actually decreased I’m fine with it.
  7. How many Marvel 1s have you owned?
  8. Sold it. Bought a Bat 1. Then sold the Bat 1 to get another Cap 1.
  9. I remember buying a 3.0 from you for 14k about 9 years ago.
  10. Hey Steve. I remember when F/VF was a very nice looking book. Not so much now it seems. VG/F seems to be the best middle ground as far as price point affordability and eye appeal. I get whatever is available that has the best eye appeal. With Gold, as you know, we often aren’t given that choice, but I like books that look 3.0-4.0 but have a large spine split or some defect. If I can save money for other books and pay for the low grade/higher eye appeal, that works for me.
  11. Post some pics up first if you want some quick prelim thoughts. When was your dad a kid? I ask because Marvel Comics 1 is 1939 and Amazing Fantasy 15 is 1962...quite some years apart unless he bought them all second hand....Does the Marvel 1 have OCT or NOV in the upper right corner? Certainly CGC is a good option if your sole intent is to sell the book(s)....
  12. Berk's CGC 3.5 brittle copy sold through CC in June 2017 for $27,500.
  13. I owned the Cap 34 in the 1990s when it was known as the D copy and not Crippen. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it, but it was a 9.0 with a bindery chip out, and had the trade mark serial number penciled at the top of the splash page. The paper was tanning which I believe is a common trait amongst Crippen books. I traded a vg X-men 1, a Cap 4 in G/VG, and $150 to the late John Verzyl (RIP) for it at SDCC 1997.
  14. The books (and characters for that matter) are not even close to comparable from my standpoint. The Aquaman movie has pushed up curiosity, demand, and FMV for MF73 but it's still a 2nd/3rd tier book/character for me. I did enjoy the Aquaman movie but that hasn't peaked my interest to acquire the book. Cap and Cap 1, on the other hand, I am a fan of both.
