  1. for my money, I'd want more separation between 31/29 and 35...I think a 5.0 #31 and 29 is worth more than $2-$3k than a #35 in the same grade. just the facts mister...just the facts... (thumbs u yes sir
  2. $4500-$5000 on the low end IMO... Stop bumping price up Ben..... sorry, didn't know you were in the market.
  3. $4-5K easy if it presents nicely for a 1.0 $4500-$5000 on the low end IMO... Thanks for the answers, and impressive synchronicity! yah, that was cool Everytime you throw prices up , books become more expensive...... do it after I own them Gator normally does the price "bumping". this is my first one

  6. $4-5K easy if it presents nicely for a 1.0 how about that? I was "on par" with your estimate.
  7. if only that were more "31s coming your way than 29s" I have had 5 tec 31's come my way in the last few months and only 2 tec 29's... I think I've mentioned this to you before, but when I was putting the run together for the first time in the early 1990's, and attending EVERY convention worth going to, every year for a decade, this is what I observed in terms of most commonly found for sale. List is ordered most common to least common: 34 36 37 30 32 35 27 31 33 29 28 The 33 was the most elusive for me back in those days, but the bottom three I would go a year or two without seeing a single copy at a show and if you recall, about 2-3 years ago, there was like 15 copies of 33 available...market has finally absorbed many of them... but it was the "scarceness" of 33 that drove the price up so much that 33 starting coming out to capture the $momentum Rick, what do you project market prices will be when comparing 29s, 31s, and 33s in the next 10 years? Do you see the 33 stabilizing and the 29 and 31 passing it? I hope 33 plummets like a meteorite I respect 33 for it being the origin but the Batman adventure following it in 33 is for sure not my favorite. I like 29 and 31 much more because the stories are better and they are earlier Batman!! i have never liked the 33 Bat story too much either...

I was collecting SA Marvels at the time
  10. you might have posted/thought of this already, but how about comparing this with Action 1-13 and Marvel 1-10? what would the Gator "toughness" scale say about those 3 titles in one list?
  11. if only that were more "31s coming your way than 29s" I have had 5 tec 31's come my way in the last few months and only 2 tec 29's... there you have it Yannis Where are gettin these 31s from Rick?
  12. if only that were more "31s coming your way than 29s"
  13. how about a "most desired" ranking? #1 most, #11 "least" This would be my order: 11. #34 10. #32 09. #30 08. #28 07. #36 06. #37 05. #33 04. #35 03. #29 02. #31 01. #27
  14. that has been my experience too--I've seen more 37s than 36s, but I've only been in the Pre Robin hunt for 3 years...Gator has a much better feel for the scarcity...
  15. Really? What about 36? generally not as tough as 37... I think I have seen about a dozen copies for sale of the years, and maybe only 5-6 (half) of 37... 37 is certainly the "cheapest" of the "rolling-fog" covers
  16. You really would put 27 that far down the list Rick? and 36 a slot above 29?
  17. I have to admit - Batman #1 has got some of the best stories in it of all time. I love Batman #1. The whole book is incredible, you are correct! My personal favorite part is the end of the last story where Joker "dies." The classic line by Batman. Batman to Robin when Joker "dies." - "he delt his last hand and lost. And when the flesh rots from the bones the smile on his face will still echo on into eternity." Don't think I have the wording just right. But man that last line gave me chills when I first read it. An absolute classic book with stories that deserve to be in Batman #1. I also love the story in Batman #1 that was meant originally for Tec #38 but got bumped. I like that its the final GA solo Batman and he kills giants in it! Man I need to get myself a real copy of Batman #1 someday and stop reading my DC archives reprints! Obviously sir, you are a man of taste and distinction. Your stock is soaring in my eyes right now!! As you've learned, I read my GA comics, and Batman #1 is the best read of the GA. You get so much more bang for your buck than with Tec 27, Action 1, AA 16, Adventure 40, etc First appearance of the most important villain in comics history, Joker. First appearance of, in all likelihood, the most important female villain in comics history, Catwoman. Add that to the fact that it is the #1 issue of one of the three most recognized superhero characters in the world and you have quite a bit of comic book and pop culture history all rolled into one issue! The Timely equivalent is Cap #1, a book I am very, very fond of. But Cap is Cap. We all love him, but most people in the world have no idea who he is. Everyone knows who Batman is. Superman #1? Not even close. Only new ground mined there was the single superhero theme in one comic (inevitable with the sales on Action Comics), and pin-up back cover. Otherwise it is pretty much a reprint with a couple new pages tossed in for ballast. So while I love Tec 27 - 40 very much and hope to have most of them again one day, my grail is, and always will be Batman #1 good points Bill. I'm not a big Robin fan, so I have always preferred the Pre Robin Tecs over Bat issues. I would take a Bat 1 over a Tec 38 though. Bat 1 does have a lot of cool interior 1sts (thumbs u
  18. Cool... so I only have 7 Batman-cover pre-Robin Tecs to go to complete my run! Doesn't sound so bad when you put it that way. start makin some calls Jon
  19. Bill is a well seasoned long time collector. You are preachin' to the choir
  20. nice, I wonder if I should start collecting detectives Grea, If Gator, decides to start re collecting Detec, thay won't leave any for the rest of us, so, I will just go ahead and mail my copoy direct to the GATOR and save myself the angst, those reds and yellows are really bright (thumbs u
