  1. Love the Punch 12 cover, but 9 is by far my favorite
  2. Very nice, Bill If Lou Fine was still drawing The Ray that would make it extra special
  3. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet (not going to read through the entire thread), but Tom Hulce's character in "Dominick and Eugene" is a huge Hulk fan. He often wears a Hulk t-shirt, has a Hulk poster on his wall, and in one scene he's reading a comic with a neighborhood kid. Honorable mention goes the band Living Colour for their "Glamour Boys" video. There's a scene on a subway car where the lear singer, Cory Glover, is reading a copy of 2000 AD. Not sure if it's not an actual issue or not
  4. Always been a fan of Severin. Congrats on the pick up, Michäel
  5. Thanks for clarifying all that, Rich (thumbs u
  6. Well, since the process has already started, hopefully CGC will post more info about who's doing the grading and such at some point
  7. It depends what you like to collect. Many posters, lobbies, window cards, etc can be had for less than, or around same the price of, a slabbed comic. The more popular/HTF titles will cost more, of course, but many modern posters can be had for $20-50
  8. Sounds like there was no watch dog all these years in thier hobby, similar to comics in the 1990`s and now a lot of old time lobby card dealers are getting worried of change. To me it looks like lobby cards are going to be a good investment and I would get in on this now as in 5 years most of these lobby cards will be hitting new highs in prices. That's one of the biggest concerns of those that oppose slabbing lobby cards, that they'll become an investment/commodity (like they feel comics have become). They blame CGC for that (in regards to comics) and don't want to see it come to the poster hobby. Some believe that anyone that buys a slabbed comic is an investor and there aren't any more collectors because of CGC. I shake my head at a statement like that, but perception is reality for those not in the comic hobby, I guess.
  9. Another monumental obstacle to poster slabbing is the huge variance in sizes of international paper. It's inconceivable of CGC to create slabs specifically for British quads, Italian 1foglio, French affiche & grande, Japanese B0/B1/B2, etc. What about inserts, daybills, locandinas, and so forth?
  10. No way is it plausible to slab a poster. No one is going to pay for or carry around a 27X40/41 slab. The cost of the slab and shipping would be prohibitively expensive. The biggest size CGC could reasonably certify would be a WC, and even that would be a monstrosity. As for resto, it isn't frowned upon in the poster hobby (if disclosed and done properly) as it is in comics…yet. I brought up the question in another forum if slabbing lobbies will stigmatize those with resto as it did for comics. Should the process catch on, it just might
  11. Made the family proud, I'll tell ya
  12. So do I, even though I'm registered
  13. Nobody's really sure. The NY charges stem from their eBay sales, where those $500-5,000 figures come from. Haggard allegedly had fakes created of extremely rare Unihorror posters that he sold to his friends/fellow collectors and one that was in a high profile auction. The sheet really hit the fan when the one in the auction was found to be a fake, after it had been authenticated by a leading poster restorer
  14. I'm kinda like that with comics, though I've come to appreciate what CGC has done for the upper end of the hobby. I'd never buy a major key GA book that wasn't slabbed unless it was already disclosed as being restored. There's nothing wrong with being a traditionalist (thumbs u
  15. There were posters and lobby cards that were allegedly faked by a big time collector/dealer in the hobby. He and his wife have been sued over it and are currently being tried in NY. Some of the faked Unihorror posters were worth well over 100K
  16. Some are traditionalists and want to be able to feel & smell the vintage paper, just like with comics, others are conspiracy theorists and everything is a plot to destroy the hobby/rob people of money/a collusion of the evil forces, just like with comics, and some just aren't sure one way or another. There are certain questions that I'm curious to learn the answers to: Who's doing the grading? Do they have experience with vintage movie paper and detecting resto?
  17. You have to save it to an image hosting site like Photobucket, then use the IMG code the site generates. Here's a link to the auction
  18. Congrats! The book's worth it just for the Jack Benny story, no doubt
  19. Wonderful book, Richard (thumbs u Didn't realize Okajimas went into the 50's
  20. Son of a buck, those are nice books The Action 43 looks outstanding. Congrats, Steve!
  21. So everyone is guilty in your eyes automatically. Guilty of what Not quite sure how you arrived at that from my statement. It was more a comment on how we as collectors are willing to discard information on a seller to obtain "that" book in "that" grade. Maybe, just maybe, the "big names" bought from him before he was outed as Hammer/Dupcak Or sold to him. That, too
