  1. Glen Gold, Kirby historian LOL. Can't make this sh*t up. Well there you go, GLEN GOLD said it, it's gospel! Good enough for me
  2. My guesses: Sleepwalker #7 & 8, Secret Defenders (the STARBLAST crossover tie-ins), a few Nomads and various coverless "Reign of the Supermen" tie-ins. I'm often said to have psychic visions, you know
  3. Ahhh, thank you. Perhaps I'm dehydrated from the heat, how did I not connect the, yes, frequently mentioned GPA with "gpa analysis" of course. Covrprice is kinda hot & cold and I'm curious what the majority of collectors here on the boards think. Thanks Adamantium
  4. I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't heard of GPA Analysis, I've been using CovrPrice but appreciate input and suggestions from my fellow members here. Thanks for sharing this Shadow, it's actually quite inspiring.
  5. I don't think it's deceptive, I think it's obtuse and inept. If they were deceptive, that'd at least give them credit for recognition- the entire point of 181's value is that last panel. I think whoever graded that was just very literal without recognizing the sheer effect in value that specific cut would have. I think they owe it to you to now make a special label which says "1st app of Wolverine's seldom used Invisibility Power".
  6. You are describing so many people's current state, decades ahead of them reaching their eighties
  7. When men say to young females they're about to jump over the counter because their doctor didn't send over a fax yet for their valtrax, and punch the plexiglass for emphasis. That's when.
  8. There's a huge difference with a dissatisfied customer and someone who goes to 1 to 100 in literally seconds and threatens someone with potential violence. This is unfortunately what's been happening the past year in many fields.
  9. I have never had a need to call CGC but I will stress that I'm fairly confident it isn't just CGC reps of either gender getting this treatment. I work in a pharmacy and the past year and a half, the treatment towards the younger girls who work the register has been disgusting- I've literally had to go interject myself several times and nearly got in a fist fight over large men slamming their fists and making genuine threats to these 5 foot 4 19 year old female college students. I find it amazing; these guys are all older than me or around my age as far as I can tell (I'm 43)- this has happened about 17 times, which is 17 times too much. It's like that Alan Moore arc on Swamp Thing where there's this building undercurrent of tension- I feel there's a massive sense of entitlement and outrage when people have to wait for things and that, combined with indoctrinated sexism, is provoking so many people to literally yell and bang their fists and imply physicality. I've worked since the 90s' and never witnessed this until fairly recently- it's as if every day is like Black Friday at Walmart sometimes.
  10. I think the poster is just getting (understandably) desperate. I would just find the representative online via their social media, assuming you haven't done that.
  11. I can see both sides of your guy's 'argument' (I'm loathe to call it that), I get it- I'm also disinterested in making Scarlet Witch a villain but I also think there's context within the film, or hoping there is, and subtle things that might make it less cut & dry like that.
  12. Boscoe, clearly you're not unintelligent so you know a spoiler thread is going to include discussion about the film in question. Bird asking you what he did is part of that discussion, is it not?
  13. The First Female Captain Marvel (until Mark Gruenwald and Ralph Macchio decided to fire Roger Stern because he refused to devalue her and remove her as leader of the Avengers then proceeded to make her incompetent and strip away her powers) - fixed that *- but I'm only clarifying Monica Rambeau; this variant of Captain Marvel is her mother from the first CM film
  14. Robot Man: "It is only worth what a VERY limited group of people in this world will pay for them." blazingbob: "Until the "comic collection" shows up in a bank account it is all financial speculation on what it can fund. My business inventory may be worth millions but that doesn't mean I can sell it all for that." THIS. These two statements are especially thought provoking and somewhat sobering for me. CovrPrice I am no longer paying you per month; I'll pay RM and Bob here.
  15. I completely understand/relate. Much respect. And you shouldn't end up in jail for fist fighting alone- maybe a holding cell, for a little while....
  16. You can get bullied in other degrees though it most likely won't be as traumatic. You can deal with passive aggressive people whether it be work supervisors or neighbors and because of responsibility you have to swallow it and it can irk you. It just evolves into different forms of pestering and the motivation for it is just like bullying. So we've got to evolve from fighting to navigating.
  17. Why do you need to bring Lew Schwartz into this? Or Shelly Moldoff?? Or Joe Giella??!! ....ahhh, my head hurts! Sorry chaps.
  18. I don't mean to continue this topic so I don't mean this in a salty way or anything at all, but I think it's arguable that Roy is being "accurate" and many would agree Neal was being accurate. If an artist is given a one or two sentence idea and then fully develops a 22 page story, adding their own ideas in along the way, adding pacing, etc. the other person is not the "writer", they did the "dialogue". But even if Neal is wrong, like, you needed to add that in your post? As if everybody knows the context of this, it needs to be brought up?
  19. Not an excuse though. The good outweighs the bad in Neal's case- ask Siegel & Shuster, ask Ayers, ask a dozen other guys- Neal rightfully explained that the Marvel Method means the artist tells the story and that upset Roy Thomas, whatever- Neal dying literally 48 hours before does not constitute having to reference that because he's still upset at Neal saying that.
  20. What does that mean, may I ask?
  21. Happened to me earlier. I've also had to change my password every single time I wanted to read and comment on the boards for a few weeks now. I thought it was just me.
  22. I went through all of my Richard Marx CDs and did not find that lyric in any of his songs. Fail.
  23. I don't mean to bring negativity into this thread but I was a little taken aback that Roy Thomas felt the need to reference Neal fighting (rightfully) for writing credit a few years back in his initial remembrance post. Seriously, who does something so self-serving and passive-aggressive in a *memorial* message?? There's no need at all to bring that up and I was taken aback by it; not a great move by a guy old enough to know better.
