These are marked shipped next day but I still have a 17 book sub stuck at G/E/I going on 3 weeks now. And the funny thing is is that I actually needed these to process a little slower because one of the books is mislabeled and I was trying to get it corrected after noticing it was mistakenly changed yesterday. I hoped to avoid sending it back as a mechanical error.

I got hit with the Fee adjustment email on a recent submission. Always fun to wake up to find. Since then, the submission has been stuck in G/E/I limbo for 2 weeks. Funny that they can charge me for Express but not provide express service from that point forward for those adjusted books. Of course they also charged me the current Express fee of $125 on books that were submitted back in May prior to the announced fee increase when Express was still $100. So that's an issue too. Three books out of 17 were adjusted to Express. Two of those have to be 9.8 to justify the bump. One of those two, I was probably asking for it. But the other one is the type of book that you couldn't really declare the value without knowing the subjective grade. And the last book? It's a low grade bronze key just inside the modern cutoff and I'm waiting to see the grade because if it's what I expect it to be, there is no objective proof that that book in that grade, when delivered over 6 months ago, was anywhere near Express tier values. Today? Maybe. But back in May when they received the book? Nope. CGC shouldn't get to use their operational limitations and resulting backlog as justification for arbitrary retroactive increases in valuation.

And that previously mentioned gut punch of grade disappointment....well that was delivered with extreme prejudice. But to be fair, some of that pain with self-inflicted. Not all but some.

Upside to a bad memory I guess is I that thought it had only been 3 weeks. Now to wait for them to get marked "SHIPPED" so I can get onto that gut punch called grade disappointment.

You won't until they are marked as shipped. I keep a record of all the dates during grading and after I gotten several orders back, I noticed the indicated Grade Date, assuming it's accurate for day of actual grading, was usually the same day that it went G/E/I. Just my experience.

I've got two small Fast Track Moderns sitting on G/E/I for 2.5 weeks now myself. The thing is is that they are graded already. If you ever look at your "grade date" under the CERT # it's almost always the same day that the status changed to G/E/I. I think the indicated status is the last completed event. It'll change to Quality Control after slabbing and Shipped after it's ready for pickup by the carrier. Just my observation since I've got nothing else to do as I wait.

Well they can't upcharge you until it's graded so by that point there is little benefit left from the Walkthrough tier. So yeah, that stings a bit. Here's where he catches a bad break....it's a 9.8 and the only sell in the last 3 months on GPA was in September for $4000. Walkthrough is 3% of FMV, so that's $120 but the minimum for WK is $150. But there are certainly worse problems to have.

If they are in G/E/I then they were graded the same day the status changed to G/E/I, typically. Your Heir to the Empire newsstand graded a 9.8 and since that's a $4K book, give or take, CGC is making sure they get theirs. Congrats, I guess.
