  1. Ok, guys. I have no horse in this race, but I looked at both scans. It's the same book. Frank, if you want to argue your ground feel free, but do it with the truth.
  2. Burn the witch! You guys kill me with the things you complain about. The lot of you needs to get laid.
  3. Yes. "Comic Keys" has officially posted here denying any affiliation to anything he had been accused of. Keep searching. It's there. He "Comic Keys" was also an active member of the comicscorral board, IIRC.
  4. Yeah, in this case the dude basically stated flat out that he wasn't paying. That pretty much voids the 30 day grace period, IMO. But I'm good either way, which is why I asked earlier. He didn't just say he wasn't paying. He also said he wasn't using the boards anymore: "by ffxmen 14 Hey I hate to do this but i got beat on here out of some money from an old buyer not saying that youll do that but i dont want to risk loosing anymore money. So im not going to be using this site anymore I just dont want to loose anymore cash." So sure - put him on the list! PS: He also used "loose" instead of "lose", and seems to not know the apostrophe, either of which should automatically put him on the list! So you change your name a couple of times and think you can pass off as a grammar expert? Some of us know who you really are.

    Uh-oh...

Why has this PSA not been bumped in almost a year? Noobies, report to the first post in this thread and start reading.
  6. If you remove the outer cover, it's a 9.0. That's why.
  7. Nice post Diceman. ...and the Grinch's heart grew three sizes that day...
  8. From what I remember about that whole ordeal, I hope this guy's got some big limits on his charge cards. DRX exactly I don't want to rehash the whole grinder "THING",but one thing for sure I do miss his input on the boards. He does have some issues, whether self inflicted or not that he needs to deal with, but he could come on every now and then and say hi.I'm alive and well. Then again board members come and go so often, who's to say whats the right to do.I think the situation on the CGC boards is we have connected here,we know and have met in person. We have built friendships outside of this messageboard. sorry about going on and on Okay....sorry I havent been around much. I didnt take the money and run. It paid my rent and bills and fed me for quite a few months. I really appreciated all the love from this board, and at the same time felt awful taking it...Ive never been in a situation where I had to take money from friends....As far as her hooking up with a boardie....all true. Bret Leutzinger*concrete comics* also was a CGC witness. Jon....as far as you go...kick rocks you clown. You and Bret hanging out or something, pulling a WWE? Anyhow, I love you all....thanks to everyone who stood up for me....means a lot. I will try and keep you posted on whats happening in the divorce....need a lawyer Good to see you post, James. I hope things turn around for you, my friend. Nobody deserves things like that to happen to them. The way I looked at it when I was down and out was that every day I'd think that this was the day it would start getting better. It took a lot of days to start, but when it did, it was better than ever. No further comment on the people slamming on you, except to say, I don't like it when people kick folks when they're down like you were. It gives me a new perspective on those that do it. May tomorrow be the day that everything starts getting better for you. (thumbs u
  9. There goes the neighborhood.
  10. Can you post the interior pages so everyone can read it? It's good stuff. (thumbs u
  11. That's kind of my point Sean. Jmarch51 has been an active member of this board. He's bought & sold many items and has multiple positive comments in the Kudos thread. He simply didn't know about the probation list ("where is this probation list? Does it say why I am on there"). He didn't know he'd been blackballed (at least, by the people who follow the probie list) over something that happened 2 years ago, and frankly that strikes me as unfair. That's what difference it makes, to me. I can't remember if I've bought from jmarch51 or not, but I've seen enough of his threads to have thought about buying from him, but my "point" (not beef) was simply that I'm suggesting an addition to the Probation List process -- to notify the people who are added to the list. I'm surprised there's so much criticism of that idea. Maybe it is a "secret cadre" as comix4fun suggested (I don't really think that). I do understand where you are coming from. Here is where I am coming from: The folks that come here and do nothing but buy and sell do not really do a lot for me, personally. Not to say that I wouldn't do business with them. But to me part of the social contract with being part of the marketplace is being part of the larger community. Not that you have to, but that you should. To me it is almost like bad manners to do nothing but buy and sell. Just my opinion, though. Anyone that is so loosely involved with the forum as a whole so as not to have established relationships, or even one person who would say "Dude, you need to clean up that Probation deal!" tells me that is not a person that I would worry too much about, because they don't seem to care one way or the other. It's not that I don't think you have a point. it's that i think you are wasting your energy fighting for the type of folks that don't give a squirt about anything other than peddling their wares. Finally, I like having the Probation thread here to do its job, because while evidence of being on the probation thread is not necessarily damning, multiple infractions mean stay the hell away. I am the guy that went out and found, bought and sent Connor CapFreak a golden age comic for helping Kenny out with Christmas a couple of years ago. I need to be reminded who the bad guys are. +10000000000
  12. This was from World Color Press day in Sparta in 1977. I worked with the man that organized and orchestrated this event for 10 years in Oklahoma, and he's the source of most of my knowledge on printing from back in the old days. I didn't see him on the video, but I guarantee that man knows everyone that was pictured in it. They printed a comic for the occasion called "Magazineland USA" and it featured characters from all the publishers (Marvel, DC, Harvey, etc.) and it's probably the only time they were ever all in the same comic. The comic was illustrated by Joe Kubert and students at his comic school back in the '70s. It gives a tour of the Sparta plant and incorporates the various comic characters throughout the issue. It's a wealth of knowledge without a doubt. It's pretty hard to find and I used to have a copy somewhere. I can remember throwing out probably 400-500 or so video tapes of training footage from the Sparta plant. I wish I'd thought they might contain some worthy information, but at the time I just wanted the things out of my way. Anyway, I'll see if I can get that video to the guy I mentioned. He'll love it. He still has a BUNCH of the printing plates. He didn't keep one here or there, everything he has is a complete set with all four colors for whatever cover it printed. He has a ton of stuff from the old days. He said they used to have samples in the plant lobby, and that Carmine Infantino came to visit one day and made him take a bunch of the older comics out because they were too valuable to be sitting in the lobby where anyone could just walk in and take them. The people that printed them were clueless as to what they were worth.
  13. I just listed my CGC 9.6 copy of #1 in the Modern forum. It's the scarce black letter version.
  14. Which one is scarcer? Oddly enough, the Serbian Walking Dead #10 Variant is a black and white Tony Moore cover with a black logo outlined in white...so I have no idea how to answer that question. Just find out which one Kirkman says is scarcest, and you can bet it's the other one.
  15. That'd be up to the seller who put him on the list. My problem with this, really, is the big opportunity I see for abuse. I think group policing works great when there's a lot of transparency. The thing is, message boards like this tend to be somewhat insular & protective of their own. People are going to believe a person they know over someone they don't; they're going to believe someone with a high post count over a low post count. That's natural and not necessarily bad -- but if you don't have at least a little transparency then it invites abuse too. Look what we've got here: A sale that the only evidence of is from 1 person. The other party added to the board's "not safe to do business with" list. The only person who can remove him from that list? The person who put him there. That's a fine system if we're all completely honest -- but eventually we're gonna get bit in the by someone who's had a run of bad luck or just isn't quite as honest as we thought they were. Anyway, I've certainly had my say on this so I'll stop. The rest of the board is okay with this so there it is. I just thought I'd explain my position. Is it perfect? No, nothing will be. Mistakes are going to happen, and often do, then get worked out in this thread after both sides have aired their stories. The cream rises and the turds sink to the bottom. Sometimes you get a floater and it takes a while, but eventually it will lose it's buoyancy after a little time. Here's the thing...CGC is not going to waste the time and resources policing sales on a message board, so either we police it, or we buy and sell on eBay. So shut your hole.
  16. I just read the last 4 issues this past weekend to catch up with the series. If someone doesn't die soon, I may not make it to issue 100. It's turning into a titfest.
  17. Yep, it's a beauty...and I'm hoping it flies under the radar, otherwise it won't come cheap! too late..... Cheap is no longer an option. Let the pain begin!
  18. I find it troubling that you can trust boardies with your priceless high grade comics, but you can't trust them around your spouse. That's about as low as it gets.
  19. I miss Hooksie. He was all right. He was my favorite to pick on. I miss him too.
