  1. Yup. Completely overexposed the character. But isn't it the exact same scenario with Deadpool? Yet kids of today love him (Deadpool that is). I think because he was overexposed, DC is too gun shy to really use him. However if he had his own series, or even a mini series, all of these 'anti-hero' fans would love him. The truth is nobody knows who he is today if you aren't 35+ years old! I still think Lobo eventually gets his day! One of my absolute faves from my early collecting days! Jay I was thinking about that, too. The Deadpool scenario. If done right, I think he can be made into a decent movie. At this point I'd be happy with a decent 4-part mini-series to get newbies up to speed with him!

  3. Well, I for one wouldn't block him, I have bought from him (mind you I live in the same Province), and have never had a problem. Again though, as mentioned before, I have never purchased a book more than $5 from him, he sends them front to front in a bubble mailer without boards (this is keeping his costs down, totally makes sense and as long as he does it right, which is he does, my comics have always arrived as described). He also had a lot of decent Valiants still cheap after the movie news (lesser keys), and didn't pull anything from me (shipped it all), even after the prices had gone up. How many times have we read posts where the exact opposite of that happens? I think, judging by the posts, for cheap filler he is a great guy to buy from. It looks like guys aren't getting high grade on expensive books (they're getting damaged in shipment), so I would say avoid him in that situation. Jay
  4. This issue has routinely sold for less than $10 on eBay and some for less than cover price in the past month. This is Dark Horse Star Wars #1 all over again. In 6 - 12 months, this book will be a sub cover price seller but you'll have people listing it for more because they will remember when it was hot. This book has seen it's high. None of these characters will be showing up in a Star Wars movie. It was wishful thinking that they would. Whether they show up in the movies or not is irrelevant. It's what Marvel does with them in comics over the next 5-10+ years that counts. This was a really good idea (especially the droids, I didn't think much of Aphra), that I can't see Marvel just dropping. Even if you don't see them again in 2015 (after the Vader series), you really think someone working on a Star Wars comic won't up and say, 'hey, why don't we use those evil droids?' The droids at the very least will end up in Star Wars canon. Jay
  5. Good list --- I'd add Rai #5 and Unity #0 Red. "Various gold issues" is true, but there's a big, big difference if you're talking about Archer & Armstrong #0 Gold or Eternal Warrior #1 Gold "Flat" ... as opposed to much lower valued books like Psi-Lords #1 Gold. (thumbs u ...don't forget Magnus 7, should be a good one too... Jay
  6. Well, somebody doesn't think it's too crazy. All the copies are gone from ebay, and there were more than 10 this morning when I first read this (regarding Avengers 316). Jay
  7. Looks like Munchkin #1 from last week is doing pretty well too guys. Lots of sales over $10 for the regular cover... Jay
  8. I'm in as well! There are guys on these boards who've sent in a helluvalotmore books than I have but I'm way up over 1000 subs. You know how many times I've sent in a book that looks absolutely perfect and still comes back 9.8? I've always felt (and argued), that if you send in enough books, CGC will throw you a bone from time to time. But good luck calling 9.9's! Jay
  9. I wonder if some just see it as a less expensive way to get a highly sought after classic cover. I buy this series to read, and based on past performance of horror reprint books didn't expect they'd ever be worth what I'd paid. If it goes any higher I'll be tempted to sell. When issue #4 or so was out, there were multiple sales of this book in the $35-45 range. I think someone even got $68 for a #1 and a #2 together. So although it's still hottish, it may have already gone through it's biggest gain a year or so ago. Jay
  10. Congrats to Reed, great guy to deal with! It was my book guys, I really didn't want to come on here and pimp the book so I stayed out of it until the sale was finalized. The funny thing is I really wanted this to go to a boardie not realizing that Reed was a boardie. All worked out in the end! And if you haven't dealt with Reed, do so! Very fair guy, I am so happy my baby is going to a good home! Jay
  11. Hey thanks a lot guys for the kind words! I collect MOTU in Canadian packaging NL, and you'd be surprised how hard it is to find. Figured I'd throw up a few more. Again, a few of my favorite things being KISS, Gobots, Zellers (the now defunct department store), and of course Star Wars! My bar area, got Peter to sign that poster in 93 at the Toronto Kiss Expo. And of course, who can forget Vinnie Vincent!!! Ahhh, the Gobots are so under-appreciated. That's OK, more for me! And yes, that's an original 1986 WWF event tear-away (untorn) Hulk Hogan Hulkamania shirt. The much under-appreciated Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid line (and very hard to put together), and the Legends of the Lone Ranger set fromt the same time period. Still working on my Clash of the Titans and Micronauts. Sadly these are in my laundry room. I only have the one shelf, so the rest of my Joes rot away in bins.
  12. OK, last pic, as you walk in before the couch this house had a custom built shelf directly on the left after the stairs (the basement, besides having new wiring, is almost completely original from when it was built in 1969, complete with shag carpet of course, which drew me to this home). I of course have filled it with toys including my NES with the good ol Commodore Monitor.
  13. And of course how can you have a toy and comic room without toys from the greatest wrestling federation of all time? Vern Gagne's American Wrestling Association was quality time with my dad, great memories, even though of course we watched Superstars (WWF), and International Wrestling as well (damn I wish they made a Steve Strong action figure)! Shameless plug, I am looking for ALL of the series 4 AWA figures known as the Mat Mania figures, paying well for original and complete.
  14. Some better pics of the comics. Sadly I could fill up two more shelves with Golden Age War books, however these shelves really don't like going into my wall easily. More soon I hope.
  15. So you don't think I'm just some toy collecting geek
  16. Here's part of my GI Joe collection, I collect loose with box, box has to be Canadian (the boxes I would have seen shopping in Canada back in the early 80's as a kid).
  17. I guess continuing the GI Joe theme... I thought a lot more of my basement would be comics, but the toys are outnumbering them about 20 to one right now. I hope for that to change soon (as I've really run out of room for toys, has to be comics). It's a mess so far, but I've been putting some time (and money into shelving) lately, so I figured, let's have a looksie. This is about halfway into the room, couch is sitting towards the fireplace midway into the room. Again, sorry about the mess. You can see where the comics start on the right hand side at the top.
  18. Check out Frailty where he both acted and directed This is one of those movies that nobody has seen, but is so good it feels like you're in an exclusive club for the very cool for having seen it and not telling anyone else about it. You just busted the doors wide open for the 'not cool' people. Hopefully, Paxton forgives you!
  19. Good!!! Let me know what you think! Jason Aaron re-invisions the Punisher and Kingpin origins, so they're not ongoing stories like when Garth did Punisher (didn't re-magine anything, just continued with what was given him from Marvel). However, when you read the new Frank origin it is way more in depth than what Marvel originally gave him, and the ending of this series, well, 'poof', mind blown! These are definite 'must reads' if you like the Punisher! Jay
  20. What`s strange is two superhero movies I did like better then ASM 2 that I reviewed threads got less views and responses then this Spider-Man thread combined. X--MEN : DAYS OF FUTURE PAST review. CAPTAIN AMERICA:WINTER SOLDIER review. Yes, I enjoyed both CAPTAIN AMERICA:WINTER SOLDIER and X--MEN : DAYS OF FUTURE PAST better then ASM 2. (thumbs u What I think happened for such heated debate was more then a few people can`t wait for Marvel to get back the rights to Spider-Man, and that has sort of developed a bias against Sony`s ASM franchise. I will say it again ASM 2 was an enjoyable flick in my opinion. Was it at CAPTAIN AMERICA:WINTER SOLDIER and X--MEN : DAYS OF FUTURE PAST level? No. It was better though then a lot of movies I have seen this year. My criteria is I like to be entertained and not bored. ASM 2 did that. I look forward to the Venom and Sinister Six movies. The problem with ASM 1 and ASM 2 is they had the plot and storyline of a Saturday morning cartoon. They dumbed down the villain's and Spider-Man's origin (Oscorp did it!) to make it easier for a kid to understand and follow. And then they had Spider-Man do dumb things like wearing a fireman's hat. I like Saturday morning cartoons just fine, but I don't expect to go to the theater and be paying for them. What were you expecting a Dark Knight? Spider-Man`s never been dark like Batman has been in comics these last 25 years. There is no Killing Joke, Batman Year One or Frank Miller The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel for Spider-Man. Name me one Spider-Man comic arc that was at that serious dark adult level these last 25 years that Sony could have used as a guide? Bendis Ultimate Spider-Man? I agree with you, to a point. Kraven's last hunt is still up there with these. Kraven had no super-powers, and was able to capture, and easily could have killed Spidey if he wanted. Kraven is the go-to guy in my mind. Jay
  21. But there is no legitimate reason for it and these books shouldn't be this high Again, that first Gambit is a Sparkle City auction. I can't think of another seller right now who gets more for their books. I collect Golden Age, it is very hard to bid on their stuff (certainly I'm not knocking them, they just have a lot of followers). Jay
  22. Maybe there's a post somewhere, but did anybody catch Harley on Arrow tonight? Jay
  23. Perhaps somebody notified him of this thread, and the comments you made here, and he figured he could do better on e-bay selling them himself. This is one example of why you should never put something like this out on a public forum before you've "sealed the deal" and have the merchandise in hand. He or a friend of his might be a member of these boards, read what was written, and figured why should they miss out on making more money for their stuff. What's really important to understand when dealing with a guy selling G1 and new stuff (30 years of Transformers), is most of the early stuff (1984-1986), has not only been re-issued, but bootlegged as well (and trust me, it is very, very hard to tell the difference on some of them). I would personally never pay $350 for this stuff, it's actually good you got out of this. Metroplex, Prime, Omega Supreme, essentially all of the good ones from the first 3 years have had shinier new versions (or exact copies of the originals), and the prices for these have been on a steady decline for years (simply because it is so hard to tell). Now, had he had only G1 (early stuff), it's a lot easier to ascertain that the items are original, because not all of them have been re-done--it's an automatic red flag when new toys are mixed with the supposed originals. When I buy toys nowadays, I will not go and see Transformer collections, because most of them are tainted (new pieces made to look like the original old ones mixed in with the old ones), and quite frankly sellers don't care, or don't know, but the buyers care, I can tell you that much! So you buy these and sell them on ebay and they end up being fakes and re-issues--you'd have so many Paypal claims open at once your head would spin! Transformers have become nothing but headaches when buying them like this. Sorry about your misadventure, but you got lucky here man! Jay
  24. So, with the Venom movie announced, 252 should see an even bigger bump. I can't imagine 300 will go much higher though, there's just too many of them and the price is already $700 for a 9.8. However, when Venom was to be in the original Spider-Man 3 (I can't believe I'm saying that, it's only like 7 years ago), ASM 300 was hitting $1000+++ in 9.8! I think there is still room to grow yet again! Jay
  25. The real winner is.... Death of Jean De-Wolffe the Sin Eater Saga. Death of Jean DeWollfe and Kraven's Last Hunt are one and two and everything else is light years behind. 100% agree with this! As a reader of all 3 books as they came out when these 2 stories took place (as the death of Jean ran through Spec and Kraven ran through all 3), they were mind-blowing for a very young teen. What I thought was really cool is how they kept building up this relationship with Jean for a few years, next thing you know she's dead! Jay
