  1. I grew up at the same time, purchasing Amazing Spider-Man 264 as my first Spidey. I soon learned of the Hobgoblin, and had to go back to the only comic store in town and search out those back issues. His entire run was incredible, the only knock I'll give it is the ending. It's funny to look back though in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada, issue 250-259 were always harder to find than 238 and 239, which I could have bought piles of (was 238 a spec book back then like Howard the Duck a few years earlier)? Great thread by the way. Jay
  2. Whetteon and Larry, you guys make moderns heating up on ebay my favorite post on this site! I love to see either of you post, please keep it up! Jay
  3. Yes, sorry, I was going off of what I heard the print run of #99 was (assuming 103 would be close).
  4. Originally on Diamond the Walking Dead 103 variant was going to be limited to 1000 copies. When I did my FOC on the Monday, it had been changed to print to order. So there are definitely going to be some large stores in the States that ordered a lot of these. I will also say there are going to be a lot of stores that either missed it, or passed altogether. What that says about print run isn't much, but my guess would be in the 25-50% range of what 103 regular did, which is probably somewhere in the 80,000-90,000 range. Jay
  5. This was definitely a 1 to 1, we ordered 15 of each and were shipped 15 of each. Jay
  6. Haunt was very different, as that had the McFarlane tie-in. I can't see initial orders being more than say 30-35K. Not a great book for investment, but should ride a long $10 plateau, so there is definitely money to be made. I have it one of my mid-range books, I'm pre-ordering just 10. Many books I take chances on I try to hit that 15 to 20 copy range. This won't be over-ordered, I still think it's a sell-out first weekend it's released, straight to a second print. Jay
  7. I talked to my local shop as well, this book IS 100% sold out, there is a second printing coming. Jay
  8. It's funny that this was posted today. I just got back my batch of 20 moderns sent in October (I'm in Canada, so I know it's a little longer). I always pre-screen through CGC, ALWAYS. Until my last batch . Now before I tell you what happened, this is the first time I've sent in books this year (2008), and I've read and re-read the complaints on these boards about the new regime but I didn't think it would change so drastically. Anyways, to make a long story short, I sent in quite a few (6 copies), of New Mutants 98, and 5 issues of Amazing in the 200's. Years past these were no brainer 9.8's, EVEN THOUGH I pre-screened the books (so I donated my extra $3). Well anyways today I get 1 9.8, 1, out of the 5 Amazing's and 6 New Mutants. Now I'm thinking maybe I missed 1 or 2, but to miss on 10 books?!? It just seems to me that they've changed their standards on 9.8's--am I wrong? I'm still going to use CGC, they're the industry standard, but I will never non-pre-screen again! Just my thoughts. Jay
  9. Hey Bomber-Bob, that is the exact same 5 pack I opened about a month ago when sending in my last submissiong. The best comic was about a 9.4, the rest are around 9.0, keep it sealed. Sadly, I believe Gary Dolgoff has about 5 long-boxes of these, he used to have them up on ebay weekly (which is where I purchased mine I believe years ago). By the way, all 2nd prints. Jay
