  1. Looks like you're on the probation list because you didn't pay for two books you bought for a total price of $55. That doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the sellers here that you would follow through and pay for any hypothetical Wolverine 35 9.8, a book that would command significantly more money.

there are issues that came up with that sale that I will not discuss here...also I won't be goaded into a war or words...I could care less if anyone sold me anything on here for the rest of my life thanks...also thanks for your unwanted opinion

Was I the first to turn you down?

  2. And further, if a boardie posts a pic of a comic and lists his/her personal grade why is that not sufficient?

It is sufficient. As long as the picture of the comic is raw. You can even post a picture of an Avengers 161 in Very Fine and call it Near Mint + with a $15 price tag.

Ultimately I am the one who will have to answer to the buyer.

Yes, and you will be here to answer to the buyer if something goes wrong. You aren't a post today and gone tomorrow board participant. You aren't here solely to take advantage of a free selling arena. Preparation H didn't label their suppositories "Do Not Eat" for people such as yourself.

All of these people aren't around anymore or are no longer willing to answer to the buyer:

Oh, and Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas, Joyeux Noël, Happy Holidays, Happy Chanukah, Feliz Navidad, Happy Kwanzaa and Merry Kissmyass.

There you go. I think I covered all my bases with North American, traditional English, French, non-denominational, Jewish, Spanish, African Heritage and redneck.

  3. Of course, I should have thought better. Scanning the label when you scan a graded book requires so much extra time that selling would become a herculean task and therefor no longer worth the time or the effort. :eyeroll:

    Got anything other than sarcasm?

Doubles the number of scans if you don't have a scanner compatible with the entire slab. I think the sales rates for someone like Foolkiller make it clear that a seller of high integrity shouldn't be forced to show labels.

Brian isn't going to try and sell slabs by posting a picture of a graded book sans the label. Plus, if one is selling so many graded books that doubling the number of scans is a deterrent then it's high time they invested in a legal size scanner. I think mine cost around $200 and GACollectibles picked one up off of eBay a few months ago for about the same.

In regards to your above reproach argument, I remember when Jason Ewert was above approach.

Besides, I thought you were all in favor of any and all information one could glean from the seller in order to analyze a potential sale to death before pulling the trigger. Surely the label would contain a wealth of information as not to be omitted.

  4. Who are the five nitwits that have voted, "no"?
    :hi:

    You were all five nitwits?

So, what's wrong with having to have the full label displayed if you are selling graded books in the CGC Selling Forum?

Because if you're a seller who is beyond reproach and posts plenty of CGC-encapsulated comics for sale with the entirety of the book but not of the label visible by scan, the rule has no benefit and pointlessly serves to increase the sellers' work.

Of course, I should have thought better. Scanning the label when you scan a graded book requires so much extra time that selling would become a herculean task and therefor no longer worth the time or the effort. :eyeroll:

  5. I don't think it's a problem for you to deal with him, but not on the boards...

I would like for us to petition Arch to follow Jim's suggestion. Anyone who sells a graded book, in a case, must show the label.

    Does anyone object?

Would a poll be better than just asking?

    (thumbs u

I think that either the label should be shown or declaring that the book is CGC graded should suffice.

A declaration means nothing. The ones that crop the label out to circumvent the already established rules wouldn't have any problem declaring a book to be CGC graded when it isn't.

Maybe we don't need any new rules. We already have well established selling guidelines agreed on by the community. If a seller can't abide by the guidelines is the solution to add on more rules? Or should we just address the issue directly with the person who can't follow the rules? Phil is not new to the sales forum, he knows the rules, but apparently thinks they don't apply to him.

I don't see it as adding a new rule, just expanding a rule that's already in place. Showing a full scan, including the label, would eliminate the "is it PGX or isn't it" deliberations.

  7. You know what would also be helpful? It would be great if sellers also disclosed how much they paid for a book they're selling. I, for one, would like to know how much they are making on the sale as that would influence my decision on whether or not I want to buy.

And I want to know as much as I can about the condition of a comic when I can't see it in person. Period.

I could be wrong here (speaking from my own perspective which is obviously a bit different). But I think it is not you seeking the information so much as the attitudinal component.,.subjecting every seller's threads to YOUR personal views just seems a bit rude for lack of a better term. It seems to me that you would be welcome to ask whatever you want of the seller via PM as well as post concerns you have in what has been identified as the appropriate place (by consensus not unanimity I realize :juggle: )

I really think you are risking alienating some folks here...as well as proposing a pattern of behavior that could easily become destructive in the marketplace (good intentioned as you may be, but you have to realize some of the grudges folks have here, and the acceptance of disrupting sales threads in the way you did could lead to a free for all  ).

    Well put :golfclap:

    He's a shrink.

So is that an endorsement or condemnation? :baiting:

    More like an inoculation.

Knowing if a book was previously graded two grades higher or lower by CGC says nothing about a books current condition.
