I don't mind MCS auctions, but the 3-minute extensions can be annoying - especially if someone is operating on a fixed budget for an auction.  Doesn't Comic Connect do the same thing?  It's basically good for the seller/auction house, I guess (?).  I used to hate it because it's especially annoying when you get the high bid, but you now have to watch that auction and the next few that you want because of the 3 minute bid.  I used to miss out on some auctions because I'm too busy going back and checking to see if I won the one that got incremented by 3 minutes (or "stayed" the winner).

I'm personally a fan of the "sniper" auctions.  Why?  Because it lets you bid what your maximum bid is and move onto the next one.  Nowadays, I generally don't have much indecisiveness about what I want to bid and on what comics, so I just go in there and send what I'm willing to bid and let the chips fall where they may.  Once there's a gap between comics I want to bid on, I go back and check if I won it.  I'm also the one that generally goes through the entire auction beforehand and knows which ones I want to go after, so that helps.

But, as Depeche Mode said, "different people have different needs"... lol.  I detest huge buyer's premiums more than I do the auction time extensions, tbh.

I gave a like for making a Depeche Mode reference.

The FA Cup started with over 700 teams participating from the amateur level to Premier League teams.  There are now just 17 left.  Exiting the competition last round were, amongst others Arsenal (leading the EPL) and Liverpool, still alive is Wrexham!

      Reveal hidden contents

They nearly knocked off recent EPL team Sheffield United who are expected to return to the EPL at the end of this season as they are very comfortably in second place in the Championship League (tier 2).  The led 3-2 in stoppage time but SU got a goal with a minute left to salvage a tie. Instead because they tied thry have to to replay the game.

Wrexham are the last non-League (League is top four tiers) team left as they play in tier 5.

If Wrexham win their next game they will play Tottenham at the Racecourse.   Tottenham sit in a League four tiers above Wrexham (equivalent of MLB team playing a Rookie A development level team).  Wrexham literally sit around 90 places or more below Tottenham in the standings of the Top 5 levels of leagues.  The documentary makers must be loving life.

Is the FA cup cool or what?

With a little better defending on the corner kicks they would have won that match.

Zork, Ultima 4, Hardball!, Mail Order Monsters, Skate or Die!, Test Drive, Castle Wolfenstein, Bard’s Tale, The Hobbit, Hitchhiker’s Guide…

I didn’t have Karate Champ on C64 but I did play it at the coin-op arcade a lot. Along with other favorites like Paperboy, Sinistar, Dragons Lair, Galaga, Tron…

Galaga is my favourite arcade game of all time. I remember going through quarters at an alarming rate playing Sinistar. I hunger…

  4. I saved a lot of money on my paper route for my New to me C64 with disk drive. I’m pretty sure that the majority of the games and applications I used were all bootlegged from other kids.

I didn’t use a PC until first year of my EE program.

Favourite game for the C64? hm

It was a long time ago but likely Pirates, Karate Champ, or California Games.

  5. I would rather have the 30k comic, as it will be much easier to sell in the future and would be a cornerstone to the collection.  I would add a couple of additional thoughts:

    • As mentioned previously, chances are if you own a 30k comic, you also have $100, $1k, and $10k books in your collection.
    • I know that we have folks from every walk of life on the boards, but generally speaking, it's easy to accumulate $1,000 books through savings or time payments.  In turn, these books can be sold to acquire more expensive books.  It takes some patience and determination, but it can be done, without compromising on the mortgage, family, etc.

Eleven CGC'd Silver Age Marvels for sale. Mostly Amazing Spider-Man, plus a few Avengers. Not mad about selling these beauties but needs must!

Payment - PayPal preferred, bank transfer also okay.

Packing - Books will be sent boxed. Shipping is included in the price..

Returns - No quibble as long as it's sent back within two weeks of receipt and is in the same condition as sent.

Please note that I'm not looking to trade.

First boardie who states that they'll take it gets the book, either here or via PM.

    No naughty folks.

    Books in a moment.

Great books.  Andy, I wish I could buy these, but we just finished Christmas, and I spent like a drunken sailor on some other books.  Good luck with the sale!

Certainly the Kirby era was the best and the BA books following Kirby were actually wonderful and underappreciated and there were some great characters introduced and many great covers.  Byrne's run was fun to read and there were other high moments in the run.  I finally quit buying the run after 25 years of picking it up off the stands or in my pull list because in my opinion it had become unreadable.  Too many family members and hangers on and incomprehensible storylines.

For the purpose of this argument, I'd suggest that FF started losing popularity late in the kirby run, let's call it issue #75.  Spider-man had become dominate and I just don't think many people were talking about FF anymore and new cool titles were on the horizon.

The Waid/Weiringo and Hickman runs are worth reading.

Bottom line: A good writer can make a good story about any character or team book. Exhibit A is Daredevil.  I would argue that DD has had better runs of books than Spidey, FF, and X-Men.
