I noticed I'll have been a member of this site for 20 years on Tuesday...while in Jamaica - life is rough... lol)

It's changed a lot in those years. While I've never been a super-poster, I try to always stay in touch with the site. Lots of "names" have come and gone.

What I've always appreciated is it's made me a better collector. I understand grading much better, what to spot, etc. I've met some great dealers (Bob Storms, Dale Roberts, Reece's, Bedrock, etc.) who I feel comfortable purchasing from. Encountered some dealers that I avoided... lol (Whatever happened to Crazy Ed? You couldn't shake him if you got caught in his orbit. That's no moon...)

Enjoyed the stories, collecting histories, what people collect, not so much any drama... life's short

The Holiday Secret Santa & Raffle are so much fun as we share in our collecting passion. Enjoyed the Grading Contests of the past. Purchasing from some members has been fun as well. Sharing my artwork (hobby) is personally rewarding.

Over the 20 years (30 years since I got back into collecting), I've completed some grails:

    • Entire run of original JLA plus Brave & Bold's 28 - 30
    • Entire run of Conan the Barbarian
    • X-Men 94 to 300
    • GS X-Men #1 - thanks October!
    • Entire Marvel Team Up
    • World's Finest 200 to end of series in early 300's
    • And more...

Was able to meet some great artists from my youth:

    • Berni Wrightson (regret not getting a signed print or book)
    • Neal Adams
    • Jose Garcia Lopez
    • George Perez
    • and more

Thank you for letting me be a small part of the community. Here's looking towards the future!

    This!

In addition to Todd McFarlane driving a lot of Spawn/ASM/Spider-Man sales, I noticed the impact of streaming shows on back issue purchases by the 15-25 year olds who spent a lot this Expo. The titles they bought were Moon Knight (I had a 13 year old buy most of my 1980 run), Invincible, Star Wars, Harley Quinn, and Ivy. I was out of Swamp Things, but had a ton of requests with people commenting that the show was great and they wished it had not been cancelled. X-Men was in demand as well due to the X-Men 97 show. As one buyer put it: "Disney kept the new show close to the original and it worked...."

Have you watched X-Men 97 yet?

That is similar to other stories I have heard bout him. (thumbsu

One of our regulars got a standby ticket for a signing with Todd on Saturday. He asked him why he was not charging for certified signings. Todd told him if people want to do that to make money off of SS books they can do the signings through CGC. He said he was there this weekend for the fans so he was signing for free with no witness. People that had things signed and came by after had nothing but great things to say about him. He would talk and interact with each fan for a bit instead of just churning them through.

That's awesome!  The lines were beyond crazy last time he was at the Calgary show!

    Enjoyed the show!

I sold quite a few books out of the 4 boxes of my inventory, emptied a box. What was selling was Spawn, as well as J. Scott Campbell variants. I sold my Le Chat Noir Black Cat Campbell, and turned that sale into a 3.5 Hulk #5.

    I bought quite a few VF-NM Hulks

Absolutely hilarious times out at night eating dinner after the show. I have not laughed like that since...last Calgary Expo!

Sorry that I missed the show!

Nice early Ace with a Harry Barton cover on the Asimov side, Valigursky on the other

Fine plus. A real nice copy, real smooth on The Rebellious Stars and a couple smallcreases on the flip side, light edgewear

Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice   Ballantine Books 28126    4th Printing December 1979    $45

Rare later printing with the amazing Gothic cover by Tom Hall. The only printing out of dozens to feature cover art rather than graphics.

Square and tight with a reader crease, edgewear and crackling of the gloss finish.

    Hello all fellow webheads...

Below is the current status of my Ditko CGC 5.0 run.  I've collected AF15, ASM1-23, 25-26, 28, 30-34, 36-38, ASM Annual 1-2, ST Annual 2, ST 115 all with White Pages.  I've collected 24, 27, 29, and 35 in 5.0 but with OWW pages.  I'm keeping those 4 as placeholders for now until I find WP replacements.  But the Ditko run itself is complete (minus cameos which I'm not after).  Any leads on those 4 book I need in WP is always appreciated.  If someone reading this has any of those 4, I'm currently offering my 5.0 OWW copies plus full GPA cash for WP replacements.  Anyway without further adieu...

    Time to expand the run?

Not perfect, but the best X-Men content in years. My son, who is 13, is also totally engaged and is going back and exploring more about the X-Men.

This show has already done more to help rebuild the X-Men brand that anything since its trashing years ago in Avengers vs. X-Men (If not earlier as that was pretty much the last nail in the coffin).

    What about HoX/Pox by Hickman?

They will have to improve the roster significantly to stay in League One. It will fun to see how they do. It would be crazy if they could build a team in time that could make the Premier League. I would not put it past them based on Reynolds' business successes. He is quite the entrepreneur on the side.

I think they can be mid table next season without huge turnover. Consecutive promotions has to be incredibly rare.

Funny story, a couple years back my girlfriend got me a birthday gift that she was super proud of but when I opened it, I quickly realized that the tickets that she thought she got to the Red Hot Chili Peppers was in fact the Red Hot Chili Piperslol

We went anyways, made the best of it and left at intermission. I won't make the same mistake again.

    They are actually pretty good!

Keep the beer suggestions coming! lol I'll be hitting the pubs on for sure while I'm there.

    Bellhaven is also recommended.

Truth be told, I will be in Scotland in August and will probably drink Guinness for the majority of it.

Make sure to have an Irn-Bru. It’s an acquired taste.
