  1. Appreciate the update, Rick2you2. Did he give you any time frame for what "running behind" might mean?
  2. I'd buy the art and count myself lucky. I've dealt with Dave, too, both buying and selling. No issues at all.
  3. The taxman cometh. Gorgeous Paul Green penciled cover art, approximately 11" x 17" in size. Purchased directly from the artist. There's no blue tint to the original (I'm just a lousy photographer). $625 shipped within the continental USA. If interested, please PM.
  4. You might want to do due diligence before bidding on this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/152902851004?afsrc=1&rmvSB=true I don't but the "Ditko" signature at all.
  5. Brian, thanks! I wondered if I should use anything to strip away the yellow -- such as a super-fine sandpaper, lightly applied -- but it sounds as if that isn't necessary. It's appreciated.
  6. A fairly ancient post, but I'm about to replace some missing word balloons from a piece of OA. There's a yellowish tint where the original balloons used to be. Does anyone know if I need to be concerned about the discoloration, or can I glue the new balloons directly over the yellow-tinted paper?
  7. Sorry to hear that Spencer's been sick. We've had some similar battles in my house for the last month. I'm pleased he pulled all those sold pages. I'm interested in some of Dale Eaglesham's work, so I was happy to see the "sale" notice by his name...only to discover no discount being given. Ah, well.
  8. This is how I feel. His Tala is terrific, about as good as it gets.
  9. I think the OP is asking if there's any financial value in these issues (being that it's a Batman/Marvel world) or, if not, are the stories any good? Edit: Darn, posted while you were posting! At least I guessed correctly!
  10. I don't follow TWD, didn't pay attention to this auction. Was this the only time pencils and inks were offered separately in the auction? Or did this article highlight the only time that the inks went for more than the pencils? In any case, one auction result does not result in a paradigm shift.
  11. Welcome to the boards! I think you'll find almost all of this forum's OA collectors in agreement on this subject. If you want to move forward with the purchase, do so, but be aware that giclees almost always lose value at the moment of purchase. Even if that weren't the case (and it is), these pieces seem aggressively priced. In a staggering, I-can-barely-believe-it way. If you want to complete your business transaction, however, you might not want to share this information with your associate.
  12. Congratulations on your first year! May there be many more ahead.
  13. So far, I'm at 30 hours...and counting.... Edit: And just received notice that the artwork is available!
  14. Thanks for sharing, Lucky. I do like modern OA and I've placed an order. Having to wait 48 hours to find out if the art is still available is a killer!
  15. Welcome to my world! I've met and corresponded with some great fellow collectors but their OA knowledge is largely confined to titles published by Marvel and DC. When I mention Love & Rockets, Strangers in Paradise, Cavewoman or Chew, their eyes go blank.
  16. A little tanning isn't a deal-breaker for me, but water damage will make me walk away. So will mold. A small, discreet signature in the body of the art bugs me a little, but won't stop me from buying. A bold, distracting scrawl within the artwork bothers me too much. A paper tear extending into the artwork will scare me away. Any question that the artwork might be a forgery does the same thing. That's why, when I wanted a nice Bruce Timm example, I focused on published panel pages or covers. Not impossible to fake but much more of a challenge.
  17. Mathew, sorry to see you go. It appears your sale is going well, since the pages I'd have wanted (100 Bullets, Scalped) are already gone.
  18. Love Love & Rockets. Albert Moy has a couple of pages, if you haven't seen them. There are also a pair of nice L&R pages coming up in the 10/27 Heritage Auction.
  19. Congratulations! But weren't you at least a little curious as to how the cover ended up in Bill W.'s hands again?
  20. I agree. When a major collector leaves the hobby and offers several pieces, as Sam Simon sadly did, prices can tumble if there aren't others to pick up the slack. Once prices fall, some people worry that they'll lose more of their investment (at Elvgren prices, it's not all about "buy what you love", the financial aspect is a consideration) so they rush to market as sellers, not buyer's, then prices fall further... The interior decorators aren't the movers and shakers here, IMO.
  21. Generally, I wouldn't do it. If the writer was Stan Lee, Alan Moore or someone of that stature, I might. Who is the writer?
  22. I enjoyed this very much. Thanks for sharing.
