*UPDATE* My "Righteous Rojatt's", Human Fly set is finally 100% complete!
SolitaireOne posted a journal entry in SolitaireOne's Journal
Arriving earlier this month, the final piece to the puzzle... my graded Human Fly #15! As mentioned in my previous journal entry, after a long search I finally found a solid-looking Human Fly #15 for my "Righteous Rojatt's set" which appeared ripe for slabbing. As mentioned previously, the Toronto Paradise-Con once again rolled into town and north of the boarder I headed, 9 raw books in tow, including the #15. I certainly didn't want to set my expectations too high, but was moderately hoping for another CGC 9.4, similar to my previous #3 submission. Upon it being slabbed, that #15 would be the ONLY (and obviously highest) graded copy and will complete my "Righteous Rojatt's set" 100%! Well, recently those submissions finally returned from CGC! Upon tearing through the well-packaged bundle, I finally revealed the linchpin of my set... my Human Fly #15, in a 9.2 (NM-) grade with Off-White/White Pages. Of course, I was hoping for at least a 9.4, but the #15 is arguably the most difficult one to find in high-grade with its black cover. Certainly as with most submissions, there are some disappointments, but for the most part I was very pleased with my overall results. In fact, I was more surprized with the results of some of my OTHER submissions from that batch, scoring 2 Bronze-Age 9.8's and 2 very nice 9.6's from the era too! With that, collecting friends, I conclude this recent tale... seeing my Human Fly set now 100% complete. Naturally, I'll continue to expand and upgrade this set when possible, but for now I'm content with the final results. Shortly, I'm hopeful to add photos and perhaps tweak my individual descriptions a bit. Coincedently, here are the other results of my recent submission: Black Goliath #3 = 9.2, OW/W Black Lightning #1 = 9.4, OW/W Green Lantern, Vol.3 #1 = 9.6, WP Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #1 = 9.4, WP Kull #22 = 9.8, OW/W Nova #1 = 9.6, OW/W Ragman #1 = 9.4, OW/W She-Hulk #1 = 9.8, OW/W Not too bad, for only my 2nd submission! What will I try next time... hmmm? Thanks again for looking and allowing me to share my addiction with y'all! -

Ok, I'm on deck! During the July Paradise-Con I submitted my 2nd batch of books. Basic B.A. stuff that I'm almost embarrased to share, but it was a very solid pile of subs for yours truly! Mostly items for my own Registry Sets... #1's, personal faves, etc. Submissions: Kull #22 (purchased from Greggy during the last VCC as a 9.4/9.6) Black Lightning #1 (purchased from Greggy during the last VCC as a 9.2/9.4) Ragman #1 (impulse buy at the show, figured it may be the "turd" of the lot, 9.0?) Black Goliath #4 (another impulse buy at the show, super sharp maybe 9.6?) Nova #1 (purchased from NoChips as HG, thought likely 9.4/9.6) Savage She Hulk #1 (sharp, 9.6+) Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #1 (nabbed for $1 at the 2007 con, 9.6?) Human Fly #15 (searched long and hard for this one to complete my CGC set, tough black cover, hoping for 9.4?) Green Lantern #1 Vol3 (my only modern sub, felt very strongly a 9.6/9.8) Results: Kull #22 (9.8) Clearly, the "gift" of the batch! (thumbs u Black Lightning #1 (9.4) Solid! Ragman #1 (9.4) A nice surprise! Black Goliath #4 (9.2) A let down, given the premium I pd., one I felt was better. Nova #1 (9.6) Solid! Savage She Hulk #1 (9.8) A very nice surprise! (thumbs u Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #1 (9.4) Hoped for a 9.6, but not bad for what I pd. Human Fly #15 (9.2) Ok, not bad, but dang those black covers! Well, it completes my set 100% and the quest continues! Green Lantern #1 Vol3 (9.6) Ok, but felt was better. * Unfortunately, only the Indy and GL came back w/ White Pages, all others OW-W? Honestly, I'm very pleased overall. It's funny, the (2) 9.8's were rather unexpected, while the (2) 9.2's where ones that I truly felt were stronger books (and hoped for better)... oh well. For dollars-in vs. dollars-out I certainly didn't loose and was very pleased w/ my personal grading overall (well, Greggy's grading is always keen ). I had CGC scan the ones I felt would be the best results: I'm already making a larger pile, shooting for 12-15 subs next time... Man, aren't comics GREAT! Thanks for peeking. -Neal

I really not into B.A. Romance comics, but there's just something about a cryin' blonde in a sweater... Va-Voom! White pages, great colors and a neatly-placed date stamp too! Great looking books, Shaper!
