True. I understand the nature of FB and IG sellers being on there to get around huge selling fees, but man - it’s sketchy most of the time. And not just comics, the record scene also has more than their fair share of shady IG and FB sellers.
The unfortunate issue is that one of those shady IG sellers made their way into ComicLink and brought their craptastic sense of ethics behavior with them and smeared it all over CLink and two other sellers. I’m sure CLink isn’t happy that there is a thread with 2K views reading about how their deal went bad because this numbnut flaked out of a sale and left us hanging for over a month.
One can only hope CLink ban this guy from buying/selling and starts sending a message that if you go back on a legally binding agreement there will be a price to pay for it.
I think the consequence should be more than just banning the seller. When the seller break a binding contract like this, they should be responsible for the 10% to CL. StockX does this.

Note: this list is cross-posted in both SA/GA forum.
I had a few small updates to the list from the thread in General. Here is the consolidated list of all the links I found in the GA/SA threads.
While only about a year since launch, my online store can be added to the GA/SA dealer list:

Once Instagram introduces a built-in feature that converts 'claim' comments into orders, effectively automating the order fulfillment process (potentially using DM), WhatNot will go to the wayside and be forgotten. I'm guessing this is already in development.

In all the years, this is probably the best Hulk #1 copy I've seen offered on the board. Wow.

All these other attempted flips are puny - see how the master swings at a 33333333% return, or something, with just one little tiny word.

Whoa! A Zeck interior featuring Spidey and Moon Knight for under $4,600? What a bargain IMHO.

I'll be honest, this sounds like CLZ really needs to rethink how they plan their projects out if they put all their eggs in the basket of a cobbled together API that was made just for them, for free, with no guarantees of service or updates ever. I'm surprised GoCollect even gave that much, let alone kept it active for years. I've had clients who needed a custom API from another venue, and when they did provide a custom solution just to appease the client those features would never been the focus of the project - it's nice they are there, but don't you dare rely on them unless solid contracts and transparency are in place
GC not supporting a legacy api on their new platform makes sense, as migrating and maintenance for something that was never meant to be official is costly, and since they are developing a free API anyways I don't see why CLZ won't start using that in the future.I totally understand your perspective - it makes absolutely no sense for GoCollect to continue supporting a public API that does not offer them a viable ROI. But on the flip-side, I think it was short-sighted for them to even provide an API (let alone to a single client) without a real long-term strategy around it. In my experience, both as a consumer and producer of public APIs (eg. developer.companyname.com), some valid business cases for one are to build brand awareness, foster a developer community with the intent of creating new business opportunities that API-provisioning company lacks resources for, and as the API matures, monetize access to the API. Why would GoCollect not have thought through their API strategy and risk credibility?

I bought a batman #47 from Jeff. Very smooth transaction. And I was very pleased with the care taken in packaging. Thanks Jeff!

So this seems to be the problem.
DST Root CA X3 Expiration (September 2021) - Let's Encrypt (letsencrypt.org)
DST Root CA X3 will expire on September 30, 2021. That means those older devices that don’t trust ISRG Root X1 will start getting certificate warnings when visiting sites that use Let’s Encrypt certificates.
(Basically, for people who read the above and just see gibberish... They weren't hacked. The SSL Authority/Let's Encrypt expired one of their Root Certificates which is causing problems down the chain for browsers that still use it for authentication... like Safari/iOS and Android devices.) There are a couple of quick fixes that the ISP can implement, or the user can really just change SSL certificates.
(They do still need to fix their links though.)
Exactly! It's the intermediate cert that has expired. It impacts all browsers and devices. I see the error message appear on my Desktop Chrome.
And to your point, much like many comic dealer's websites out there, the site was built and maintained long before responsive design or the use a robust and tried platform like Shopify where this type of issue is less likely to occur.
Paid for a book on CLink Exchange, we never get the book - shows up for sale on the Boards

..by the way, sorry to hear you and our wife had to go through that b*llsh*t. What an utter waste of time!
Exactly. Any comic dealers or exchange out there that do collect a penalty fee? I'm not aware. As a dealer, I require items be shipped in advance to avoid this sort of mess, but in the future, if I let them hold, then I'll be enforcing a penalty fee.
Also perhaps worth noting, a similar situation happened to me about a year ago with Comic Connect / Metropolis Comics and as a result, I won't be doing business with them again. It was for an ASM #3 listed in their market or exchange section. Sent check, they cashed it. Dealt with a Jeff Maza who never responded to my request for tracking info over a two-week period. I reached out to Rob Reynolds who finally bore the news to me that the seller backed out. Within a couple days, I received my refund check. In my case, I didn't bother finding out who the seller was. Simply too time-consuming. But maybe I should have. I suspect it was as you mentioned, one of those IG sellers who made their way into Comic Connect.
So I do believe this is a bigger problem in the industry and clearly not isolated to just Comic Link. And I think the consignee should be held fully accountable because they are providing the service. In my opinion, I have my doubts that they will ever effectively address the problem, either because A) it's too costly to change a broken process, B) requires a skill set that they do not possess in-house, C) a fear of losing consignors' business or D) all of the above.
