  1. Man, I ordered 3 copies, now I wish I would have ordered more...
  2. Same - I pretty much pick up any newsstands (or really any copy, but especially newsies) of the Batman keys or minor keys from 400 on if I find them cheap enough. But yeah, most DC spec is unfortunately always cheap.
  3. Well, you should be able to get at least $100 for these...
  4. What do you like to read? There are so many options now, so you'll need to narrow it down a bit based on personal preference. I'm not caught up on a lot of stuff - and this is not "outside the obviously popular" - but Batman just started a new arc with a new creative team on issue 118 and they're soliciting 121 now, so that could be a good jumping on point. Plus a lot of the recent story arcs can still be had for mostly cover price. I've heard Dark Knights of Steel is good - I'm buying it but waiting until it's done to read it; that's on issue 5. Nice House on the Lake is an interesting horror book in a 12-issue run - they took a little break after issue 6, but they're soliciting issue 7 now. Not sure if they're doing a TPB for the first half, but most of those are available for fairly cheap. The new Cates Hulk run started recently, as did the new Venom run - again, I haven't read them and they're the popular choices (sorry), but it sounds like you're looking for recently started titles. But really, like I said, more info about what characters/styles you like will help with recommendations. Good luck!
  5. There are books I always grab when I find them cheap - like a couple of bucks cheap. Early-ish TMNT issues, certain issues in the Batman and Detective runs, and some books that used to be dollar bin books and have gotten more desirable but can still be found cheap in older shops, things like that. Stuff where you can usually buy it for a buck or two and sell it for $10 or so because you know they'll typically move. Sometimes I sell, sometimes I sit on them for various reasons. Just for Batman alone I have multiple copies of 404-407, 423, 426-429, 457, 475, 489, 608, 609 (actually the whole Hush run I guess), 655, 666, etc. It ends up just being a byproduct of doing a lot of deal hunting and buying lots and small collections.
  6. This looks a lot like the fake version that is going around - someone made a video about it. I think there should be a bleed on the back cover left where the game meets and bleeds past the edge. This has a hard stop and additional black cover between the game and the edge, I don't think it'd look like that even with a miswrap or miscut.
  7. For what it's worth, when I got back into collecting (and was brand new to graded books), I independently came to the same conclusion as what @valiantman is saying when it came to diversifying my spending. I saw the notion from a lot of people and "industry experts" that 9.8 was always king, but I noticed that you could spend less on books under a 9.8 and often realize a greater percentage return. As a hypothetical example, I figured that if I had $1,000 to spend, I could get one 9.8 that might see a 20% increase, or four different 9.4s with the potential for a cumulative 40% increase - plus, if the one 9.8 dipped then my whole investment dipped, but if one or two of the 9.4s under performed, I was diversified to protect against it. A couple of caveats - it can be very dependent on the specific book, and you do actually have to sell to realize the profits if you're investing, otherwise it's all just navel-gazing. In reality, a lot of my graded books are in my "not gonna sell 'em" personal collection or are at least long-term holds for me because I like owning them. Buying and selling (for me) is almost all raws to fund my collection. But even for the PC, it made sense to me to buy the multiple different very nice copies and not chase 9.8s, so that way I can afford a lot of different books I want. None of what I'm saying is gospel, obviously - it works for me though, and it's just to say I have experienced what @valiantman is saying about 9.8 vs. other grades.
  8. That's the wrong back cover, just fyi... I've definitely made the "wrong pic" mistake a few times myself, thought you'd want to know.
  9. What am I missing here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/353838906231?hash=item5262713b77%3Ag%3AL7IAAOSwjB5h0hVw&LH_Auction=1 TMNT 6 at $90 on 21 bids ending tomorrow. This is way higher than other recent sales of higher-grade copies. Just wondering if something made this pop or if this is just a lucky fluke for the seller?
  10. Here's a CGC 6.0 3rd print for auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234346900299 And a 6.5 Sig Series 1st Print for $21K: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203678199416
  11. I agree. They're hitting eBay less often and they're starting to pick up a little, around the $50 mark usually now, but they're fairly scarce. I got a CGC 9.6 newsstand at a DIG auction a few months ago for $90, and I scored this one last week for $26. It's not a 9.6, but it ain't bad! The weird smudgy line by the DC logo in the scan is something on my scanner - should have cleaned it before I started scanning...
  12. Got a huge batch of books in over the past 10 days or so from various sources, including eBay, other auctions and some great sales here from @Bird, @CDaBruce and @John R - thank you all! Believe it or not, I didn't even get around to scanning everything...
  13. Bought another big batch of books from John - top-notch seller as always, thank you again!
  14. Posted it elsewhere, but this is one of my favorite Perez covers: And the Judas Contract (Teen Titans) is one of my favorite storylines, and Perez's Robin is my "ideal" Robin. I like that storyline so much that I bought this toy run more than 10 years ago:
  15. It's a great cover, and no disrespect to Perez, but David Mazzucchelli's Batman 404 and 405 covers have this beat in the Copper age (in my opinion). But I also prefer my previously posted Crisis 7 cover (which is Perez) to this as well. But that's what makes art so great - the subjectivity.
