Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Jesse-Lee replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I plan to catch up, I'm just way behind - I just finished the story in 55-57, which I actually really liked... -
Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Jesse-Lee replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Same - but I found a (maybe questionable? we'll see...) site online that had covers A, B and C in stock for cover price, so I took a shot. They did already give me a tracking number, so I guess I'll wait and see... If they come through, they have a future customer in me. -
Moderns that are heating up on ebay!

I'm a huge Bat fan and wouldn't drop that much on the many "first appearances" in the recent runs of the various Bat books. But Joker #2 currently seems to be running at a premium across all covers based on eBay. Looks like it's $10-30 minimum plus shipping to get into this book if you didn't preorder or don't score this week at your LCS... -
I used to beg my parents for these every time we went to the grocery store. Well, these and the Archie digests. I think I still have the Batman Family one and the Plop! one, but both beat to from reading...

Yeah, half is ridiculous, especially on a fresh auction. I'll admit, I have gone low on some if I know they went unsold and were re-listed, just to see if they might just want to get rid of the stock. But I've never gone as low as half, and if I feel it's overpriced I usually just ignore it rather than try to offer at FMV. I did have a guy selling a book that was like 75% above FMV and I offered 5% over and explained why in my offer. He straight rejected it, which was fine with me. But it sat unsold for a long time, and I don't think it ever did actually sell...

This is interesting to hear because I'm someone who tends to make a lot of offers on stuff vs BIN or waiting for an auction to end. I always wonder how the seller receives offers; as in, do they get insulted/annoyed or is it just par for the course? To be fair, I don't do ridiculous low-balls, but I do my homework and I do look for deals where I can get them. But I've offered exactly opening bid before and gotten mixed results - sometimes they jump on them and sometimes they counter with like double opening bid, at which point I assume they just want to see how the auction goes.

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!

Yeah, that's why I jumped on it and also 46 to hedge bets - I was able to grab them as a little buzz was starting but they hadn't taken off yet. 47 seems to be the winner - it's the one with actual story in it. 46 just has some concept sketches and the back cover I believe... -

That's crazy (and don't call me Shirley)! I lucked out and picked this issue up a few months ago right before it started to pop, as well as issue 46, for $3 each. Mine's likely not a 9.8, but a rising tide lifts all boats... Congrats on a nice-looking book! -

cgc Which CGC comic is your most prized slab?
Jesse-Lee replied to Adam Lui's topic in Comics General
New acquisition but it immediately became my most prized - I absolutely love his art style, so to think I have a small, one-of-a-kind (each remarque is different, 16 in total) piece of his original work is amazing. And I got it at a steal of a deal, which also makes me happy! -

Loss - I bought a small mystery box from an LCS. It was full of mostly Sovereign Seven issues. Win - It wasn't too long after the Great Toilet Paper shortage of '20, so I was set ok...

That's amazing! Awesome set-up. I remember when the original TMNT Usagi toy came out, I traded another kid a bunch of baseball cards for him! -
The official Usagi Yojimbo/Stan Sakai Thread
Jesse-Lee replied to WolverineX's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Found Critters #1 and Critters #2 (yes, I know Usagi isn't in #2) today in a box of random books, mostly Marvel stuff, at an LCS - I looked in the other boxes to see if they had any other issues or any other Usagi stuff, Turtles, etc., but these were it. $15 for the pair! -
Couple of spine tics, a little color rub on the back spine and a slight touch of spine roll, but otherwise it looks fairly clean and feels solid. Smells great too...
