  1. Loss - I bought a small mystery box from an LCS. It was full of mostly Sovereign Seven issues. Win - It wasn't too long after the Great Toilet Paper shortage of '20, so I was set ok...
  2. My picks (nice selection by the way!): From the following list, pick the ten books you would like to see submitted! 1. Thor 337 2. GI Joe 21 (Canadian Price Variant) 3. Avengers Annual 10 4. Predator 1 (first Dark Horse app) 9. Ms Marvel 12 (double cover) 10. Batman 635 14. Avengers 196 15. Secret Wars 8 (origin black Spidey costume) 18. X-Men 129 19. X-Men 130 Finally from the 7 listed below (the big boys category), pick the 3 you would like to see graded! 2. ASM 129 3. Fantastic Four 49 5. Captain America 117
  3. I thought ASM 258 was the first Venom - the symbiote detaches from Peter and comes to life in the Fantastic Four's lab...
  4. That's amazing! Awesome set-up. I remember when the original TMNT Usagi toy came out, I traded another kid a bunch of baseball cards for him!
  5. Found Critters #1 and Critters #2 (yes, I know Usagi isn't in #2) today in a box of random books, mostly Marvel stuff, at an LCS - I looked in the other boxes to see if they had any other issues or any other Usagi stuff, Turtles, etc., but these were it. $15 for the pair!
  6. Couple of spine tics, a little color rub on the back spine and a slight touch of spine roll, but otherwise it looks fairly clean and feels solid. Smells great too...
  7. I've shared these elsewhere before, but I love the art and stories in these: Batman: Son of the Demon 1st print Limited Edition, signed by Mike Barr and Jerry Bingham, numbered 535 of 1,700. And Batman: Bride of the Demon 1st print hardcover, still sealed.
  8. Thanks! I was pumped to win the auction, he's my favorite current cover artist and it's my first-ever CGC SS book!
  9. I won it at $104.50. When these were first sold on the website it looks like they were $275 - and there's another Puppeteer Lee SS with a remarque of Wonder Woman currently for sale on eBay that a seller has listed for a BIN of $399. It was a mid-day ending auction, and it looks they they mostly sell other collectibles (they only have one other comic for sale currently out of more than 700 items) so I feel like I just lucked out - right place, right time, right circumstance. But there were 38 total bids, so maybe I'm just overestimating the value/desire for this? Either way, I absolutely love it! And when I think of some of the stupid things I've spent $100 on, this was a no-brainer for me...
  10. Keeping with the Dark Nights: Death Metal theme (and artists with the last name Lee ), here's mine from Puppeteer Lee:
  11. I am so stoked for this one! Puppeteer Lee is my favorite current cover artist, and I won this in a no-reserve auction for what I believe was a ridiculous steal. This is my first SS book, and it's got a beautiful hand-painted remarque: And then to top it off, I saw this on his Instagram - he said there were only 16 painted remarques, and in the pic he shared, that's this book in the upper right. Pretty cool!
  12. I agree - same with people buying 9.6s from other grading companies and hoping to resubmit for a higher grade from CGC; I wonder how many of those end well for the buyer? Seems like a huge risk.
  13. I think a lot of people are buying 9.4/9.6 copies of old CGC label ASM 300s at a premium though, the idea being the buyer hopes they're unpressed and could "press into" a 9.8. I'm not justifying it, I just think that's what's happening here based on some recent trends.
  14. So my questions are - is this technically counted as 2 sales of a 9.8, and if so, do you split it to say that both were $5,300? So both a 9.8 W and a 9.8 OW/W would be the same cost?
  15. Yeah - that's true. As I buyer I try to give sellers even more benefit of the doubt these days with the way USPS seems overloaded/having issues; especially since that's out of the seller's hands (unless they're sending Media and not being up front about it).
  16. The flip side of this though is patience only goes so far. I now have a book coming to me with the dreaded "In Transit, Arriving Late" status. Supposed to arrive on 3/18 and now it's stuck who knows where - left the Chicago distro center on 3/17 mid-day, which usually means it goes to my local hub the next morning and is out for delivery the same day or the next - but instead it says "In Transit, Arriving Late. Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility." Because I'm impatient and also have little confidence in the system, I did a Post Office inquiry today and find out the guy shipped the slab media mail (never mind the fact I paid $13 [I now see it was $10, but still] for shipping)... Post office said media mail can take up to four weeks or more to get to me, so I should just be patient. Well, that's not my strong suit, especially when I wasn't informed that my shipping cost/option was media mail, which apparently isn't even valid for comics in the first place. I also have 3 other shipments on the way, and one of those appears to also be media mail, and even though they shipped later they've all since cleared the Chicago hub as per usual according to tracking. The seller has a perfect feedback record and I'm a generally nice person who gives the benefit of doubt, so now I'm in a position of fouling up their perfect record because I'm really not happy and they really shouldn't be sending slabs via media mail...
  17. I don't have anything to add that is helpful, but I just wanted to say thanks for sharing this, it's really cool!
  18. Joker #1 - Neal Adams cover (and homage to his own iconic Batman 251 cover)
  19. Something like this guide came in the Marvel Collector Kits that they used to have in the 90s - I got one for Christmas one year. This isn't my pic, but it's basically what you got. I think the best book I got if I remember correctly was X-Men 248...
