  1. Ended up winning this for $16, thought it was a nice deal since these late Vol. 4 issues can be tougher to track down. In hand, it's the nicest 8.0 I've ever seen - grader's notes say: light spine stress lines to cover; light staining to cover. Maybe a candidate for a clean and press?
  2. Just an 8.0 (lowest on the census of 12), but a darn nice looking 8.0 - here are the grader's notes: light spine stress lines to cover; light staining to cover. Either way, at only $16 I was happy to get it - these later-number Vol. 4 issues can be tough to track down, and pricey.
  3. First, I agree with everyone here and I'd probably pass. However - you say they have zero feedback, but did you also check to see if they've ever left feedback for others? Just something to consider, maybe they've been unlucky in receiving feedback... I usually check that on any offer I receive, because I want to make sure I'm not dealing with a potential serial pain in the butt.
  4. Absolutely! Here's a pic of me playing with my original Grayskull that I got for Christmas that year, which (ironically) I think my brother may have sold when I went away to college. So, full circle moment!
  5. I'm basically just missing some cardboard and a sticker, plus a weapon or two, but in my mind I'm calling this complete as far as my collection goes, this is plenty for me - just happy to have it to this point!
  6. Met up with my brother on Black Friday, and he said he had something for me - turns out he had a Castle Grayskull as well as a bunch of the pieces I was missing from mine, and he gave me the whole thing! So now I have two Grayskulls, and I put together a 90+% complete one out of all of the pieces (my shell was nicer and they're both the same model number, and now I have some of the missing pieces including the quintain base, flag pole, weapon rack, elevator shaft and pull, one of the cardboard pieces, some duplicate weapons, etc.). Was so stoked to get this, here's the castle with my recently acquired gen 1 He-man and Battle Cat, and the Talon Fighter with Point Dread:
  7. I was 9 years old when the cartoon debuted in 1987, and I had to have as many of the figures as possible when they came out - I still have a bunch of them. My dad took me to a comic shop in probably '88 or '89, and I got a copy of Leonardo #1 (sure wish it was Raphael #1 or a TMNT #1, but oh well). I also got the "First Comics" trade paperbacks around that time. Those are long gone now, but I'd read them to the point where the covers were coming off anyway. Now I finally completed my run of the Vol. 1 Mirage series (#1 is a 4th print, #2 is a 3rd print, and Raphael #1 is a 2nd print). It was a fun project! I also remember whenever we'd take a trip to the "city" (Madison, WI ) to go to the mall, I'd sit all day in the arcade while my parents shopped, playing the Turtles in Time 4-player machine, must have been in the early 90s.
  8. I didn't read through everything - I'll probably go back and read it, but for now, I just wanted to address the original question (because I can't resist throwing in my ). Since I got back into collecting, these forums are the only comic-related forums that I check in on and interact with on a basically daily basis. Even when I don't have enough time to actually post, I at least try to pop in and see what's going on every day. I've tried a lot of other forums, as well as social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook and Reddit mostly), but the CGC forums have always had a different feel for me. I think it comes down to the fact that there is a wealth of knowledge throughout these forums, as well as a majority of users who act in good faith - people who legitimately enjoy the hobby and want to enhance their own and others' enjoyment. At first, I thought some of the rules were a bit archaic and "hokey" - I can't swear on the Internet? I can't read some threads because posts were removed for whatever reason? - but after a while, I understood it's due to the hard work of the mods here that we have a venue where the cream usually rises to the top. I can get plenty of contention, hurt feelings, badmouthing, political stuff, etc. on literally any other place if that's what I feel I'm missing. But when I come here, it's an outlet for shared enthusiasm in this crazy, niche hobby we all find ourselves a part of. Maybe I'm being Pollyanna here. Maybe I missed the "heyday" of the CGC forums. But overall, I really enjoy this little corner of my digital footprint, and I appreciate the people who are here and who have a good time talking comics.
