  1. Batman 251 in as high a grade as I could get for the money. I kind of did this already - I had $500 earmarked for comics and bought a 251 6.5 cgc for $525 a few months ago. Are there other books that might see a better return? Sure - But Bats 251 is an absolute classic, and I love that I own it. If we're talking about a book I don't already own, then for me it's a low grade Flash 123, or a low grade ASM 129, just because I love those 2 books and don't have them yet.
  2. Picked this up here on the boards - Pieces of Turtles 8.2. Dave Sim is apparently doing a remastered version of TMNT 8 (the issue featuring Cerebus) this coming year, and he did a lead-up two issues on Kickstarter and his website - Pieces of Turtles 8 and 8.2. I totally missed these, but was able to pick this up here, and it's really cool. It's basically a fanzine of behind-the-scenes stuff on TMNT 8. I'll have to bite the bullet and pick up Pieces of Turtles 8 now at a premium. 8.2 was a limited signed and numbered run of 192 without a COA, and kind of oddly, an even more limited unsigned/"unnumbered" run of 35, each with a COA and a copy number X of 35 (which means it actually is numbered - it's a weird setup) - this is one of the unsigned/"unnumbered," but it is numbered 27 of 35... And the COA is actually signed by Sim... I like that it's #27, since my birthday is the 27th, that was just some cool happenstance. Here's the COA (I blacked it out since it had the original buyer's name and info):
  3. Great prices and grading, super fast shipping, great guy to deal with - thanks again!
  4. I do love that cover though! One of my favorite cartoons as a kid!
  5. Yeah, I wasn't going to call you out on the TMNT. I've found a couple of the Nintendo Valiant books in the wild now - a Game Boy and a couple of Super Mario - but these Zelda were by far my best score on them. Even at $50 for the 4 Zeldas and 2 Blips it'd be a pretty nice deal. But I'm like you, I haven't sought them out, I just hope the universe lets me cross their paths. This lot didn't mention any specific books in the title or description, it was just pure luck I found it!
  6. Just picked these up in a random lot buy on eBay:
  7. The Legend of Zelda 3, 4 and 5 are all the 1991 reprints - you can tell because they have a $1.50 cover price, compared to the 1990 printings which actually have a higher $1.95 cover price. The cover on the 1991 #4 is actually the cover art from the 1990 #2 - the others used the same cover art as their numbers. Even though they're the 1991 reprints, they usually go for a pretty solid price in good condition. The other Zelda book is actually Nintendo Comic System #7 - a lot of people think it's Legend of Zelda #7, but the Legend of Zelda books were a 5-issue run, so there is no #6 or #7. The Nintendo Comic System #7 is usually harder to find - recent sales of that issue have been between around $40 to as much as $125. I basically bought the lot for those 4 books plus Blip #5 and #6, although the NightBreed Genesis TPB is also out of print and is usually at least around a $15-20 book or more. I just thought it was fun to see what a weird lot this was - I'll probably try to bundle and sell the other books to recoup some of the cost.
  8. Nothing new to this thread, but I was really happy to add this one to the collection, thanks to fellow boardie @kimik:
  9. Got this beauty here on the boards - love O'Neil and Adams and stoked to have this one, thanks @kimik! And I grabbed these two for a nice price online (a little sticker schmutz on the bags, books are pristine):
  10. I've been charging $6 shipping on eBay since I started selling again in the last 18 months or so. I do the same as you, first class or better on a Gemini with plenty of tape, extra backing boards and packing material - I won't ship Media Mail. I can often send 2 books if they buy and ask for combined shipping in one Gemini for just under $6, depending on the book size/thickness. I've never had anyone complain about the $6 shipping, and I don't really make any money on shipping when you factor all costs (maybe a quarter or two here and there), but I've gotten plenty of good feedback on the security of my packing. I say directly in my listings that I use fresh Geminis and will only ship first class or better. As a buyer, if I find a book I want from 2 different sellers, all other things being equal, I'll pay an extra buck or two for the shipping if I see that's it's coming first class and they specify their packaging.
  11. I'll double your money for it right now - that's 100% pure profit to you!
  12. Thanks, I'd take it if you find one! I was hoping there'd be a place out there that 3D prints replica pieces like the elevator shaft piece - it's one of the most broken pieces there are on the original castle - but I haven't found any repro sites for that. I might spring the $20-30 to pick one up on eBay, there are a couple out there and they show up from time to time. I might get a set of repro cardboard pieces too, those are definitely available.
  13. Ran across a vintage Castle Grayskull lot on eBay - picture was a lot of random parts along with the castle, including some pieces that didn't go with the set. I have the new Origins castle, but I haven't owned an original since my brother sold mine when I was away at college, so I went for this one. Based on the photos in the listing, it actually looked to be fairly complete, and I was pretty happy to clean it up and put it together tonight. Here's the pic from the listing: Here it is put together with an Origins He-Man - disregard the clutter please, some boxes that need to be recycled... . Overall, it's missing the elevator shaft and pull mechanism, the flag pole and flag, the banner sticker and the cardboard cutouts, plus a couple of other accessories are incomplete (see below): Some of the weapons, the training quintain and an extra laser gun top - no quintain base or weapons rack unfortunately. Extras - a cracked throne, the throne room base, trap door and mechanism, and a top platform: Plus these pieces from other sets - the snake and gate from Snake Mountain, the lower base to Point Dread and the grappling hook from a Wind Raider: Now I can recreate this pic of me as a kid!
  14. Still 8 issues left to complete my Vol. 1 run - I wasn't counting this since I had a 2nd print. But when you find a #5 1st print (which I didn't already have) in decent condition for $15, you grab it:
  15. Picked up a few more, thanks to @John R's sales thread:
  16. Still on my hunt to complete TMNT Vol. 1 - I have a couple of early issues that are 2nd, 3rd or 4th print (#1, #2, Raphael and until now, #5), which I'm cool with for this goal, but I stumbled on an eBay listing for #5 1st print and #8 for $30 for both, so I now finally added a #5 1st print. I think I have 4 or 5 copies of #8 at this point... And then, because I have zero self-control (and because his sales threads are so amazingly epic), I bought way too much from the outstanding @John R - thank you as always! \
